13:15 I don't know if anyone caught this. But in the first film when Rose was doing the interview with Laura she said "It's Thursday, October." Which is nice knowing how they kpt the chronology intact. Because this would have been 3 weeks after that. So it's logical that it would take place in early Dec/late Nov.
Props to Naomi Scott. She really embodied being this character from singing and doing the choreography while also acting in a horror movie. She needs an award.
27:34 Trichotillomania. I unfortunately have that. I am a male and yes Trichotillomania generally affects females more than males. But whoever it affects it id devastating to. This movie is one of few movies that have Trichotillomania in it and I was absolutely impressed and taken back by her performance and the way they showed the reality of Trichotillomania. It's different for everyone affiliated but there is a commonality that we all share.
Another great reaction guys! This was a great sequel. You felt for the main character and could feel her descent into hopelessness & madness. Just a phenomenal performance by Naomi Scott! One thing I found interesting was the 'eye' references. In her apartment, while she plays the piano, there is an eye sculpture to the left of it. The "dancers" knock her unconscious by slamming the right side of her face into the piano, blacking her right eye, but it's her left eye from the viewer's perspective. The last stab to her mother was to her right eye; again our left. Right after her mother is killed, there is an eye pattern in the blood on Riley’s gown. And Riley uses the microphone to impale herself into her right eye, our left. Not sure of the significance, if any, of it but thought it was an interesting insight. Looking forward to Smile 3!
Gemma spoke to the mom the mom never spoke to her or even acknowledged he existence. I rewatched after seeing this at the movies specifically looking to see if anyone acknowledged her… sky asked her to come to rehearsals and she didn’t go so if you rewatch sky is the only one who interacts with Gemma it was brilliant.
When the entity put its hand in her mouth at her house, that's when it achieved total body control. The entity was controlling her body, while her mind was stuck in a limbo, which is the part we saw in the movie. The last time entity released her was on stage, when it wanted to play the last step.
56:58 its was at this moment the 2nd to final stage of the Smile possession happens, and everything she experiences after is all an elaborate illusion in her mind.
Peter Jacobson was Dr Taub on House. And Kal Penn from the first movie was Dr Kutner on House. Both of them played a nurse and a doctor in these movies respectively. And Skye is trying to get her hands on Vicodin through the first part of this movie. I’m guessing Parker Finn’s a fan?
The mental gymnastics this franchise put our minds through is insane. And you can definitely see where they put the extra budget at in this film but didn’t go overboard with it
I’m so excited for this reaction! Your reaction to the first movie was so fun! I love the Shejects (and everyone else too!) but there’s nothing like the original duo!
Naomi Scott genuinely deserves a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars 2025 but we all know she will get snubbed just like Mia Goth in Pearl. Anyway, I hope they make a third and final smile film!
I absolutely loved this opening of the film. It picked up basically exactly where I was hoping it would. And I think overall this film was far more impactful to me than the first, especially because not all of the scares were given away in the trailer. Also, the set up at the ending? Terrifying possibilities! I really hope there’s a third.
I know Peter Jacobson from the show House which is funny cause I know the wife of the teacher, who killed himself with a hammer in the first movie, played Carla from Scrubs. This franchise is assembling the “doctor sitcom” universe.
I loved how at one point in the movie the entity tells Skye, "I've been waiting for you," and at first I just imagined that as it trying to terrify her. In hindsight I'm thinking that maybe it meant that it finally "possessed" a person with such a large reach, so that it can "infect" as many people as possible in that last scene on stage.
Like Morris, there may have been multiple people who would've understood the entity's M.O. I think the entity felt threatened that it won't survive by latching on one person at a time, because there may be a chance that someone like Morris won't wait around for the host, and just end them himself. Which is why Riley became a perfect host. Hell, the entity called Riley over itself. Lewis didn't message Riley to come over. She was set up from the beginning. And the fact that she was recovering only exacerbated her situation, as no one would ever believe her.
@@gabrielgroenendaal3007 Exactly it's crazy how many people believe it'll infect hundreds of people suddenly. I think her unaliving herself on stage was written in more for shock factor rather than alluding to the whole audience is screwed.
@@gabrielgroenendaal3007 Yeah, it certainly would have reached more people than just doing it in front of one. But even in one of those locations there is a pretty decent cap on how many people would see the actual killing, much less the smiling face. However up on stage at a Pop Star's concert, where tens of thousands of people could see the killing and the creepy smile is bound to reach way more people.
I can't believe I saw her in that Power Rangers film and didn't even realize she was the same actress. Amazing what a new hairstyle can do. The way this movie ended really made me curious as to how they'll manage to do the third film based on how the demon functions. But whenever it drops, I hope to be in a theater watching it.
I was so excited to see Peter Jacobson. Always loved him in House, MD. I wish he was utilized more in this movie, though. I was hoping to see them try that procedure. Absolutely loved the movie, though, especially Kyle Gallner in the opening. Horror movies love to kill him off.
Yes but also why was she around to say hi when skye was in the other room? Did skye say bye to her in front of her mom? Was she gone when skye came back? Wouldn't sky have inquired where her friend went ro if she were gone?
@@dorathedestroyer4081 so she assumed she left without saying bye? Wasn't gemma only partially dressed at the time? Skye wouldn't question why mom doesn't even mention Gemma? I mean mom was the one pushing for them to reunite seems weird to not even address the change.
@tnashi22 you do realize they are in a rush to leave for the rehearsal thingy. There is no time for chit chat. Gemma was only partially dressed but its not like she moved in at skye's apartment. All she had to do is change and take her stuff and leave
Actor who plays Gemma is either a great actor who played bad written character well or just a bad actor. lol her no emotion to every horrific thing she saw or heard was funny af, "eww, noo, What ?" reaction to someone dying after smashing his own face with weights was hilarious.
This is definitely one of my favorite films of the year. Naomi Scott gives an Oscar nomination worthy performance, her character is so real with all her flaws. Ray Nicholson hopefully does more horror films or psychological thrillers, his acting reminds me of his legendary father
As demonstrated by Sky drinking if it were a bottle of alcohol, which makes her way of showing her frustration similar to what was her decision to not show her true sign of insecurity. And what led her to finally show the monster. His tragic fate and the truth. , he wanted Sky to be saved.😭😭😔😣
that’s what kept going through my head while watching the movie, especially when skye smears her makeup slightly downward it reminds me of a frown. the hands on her face seem to prioritize the corners of the lips too, like you know the thing where some people point at the corner of the lips with the pointer or thumbs and say to smile
Notice how the mom never acknowledged Gemma’s presence. She for sure would have since she pushed skye to call her. She would have been happy to see her
0:10 fun fact for me- not that anyone really cares but I find it funny and will tell it any chance I can: in the last few years my antidepressants have become time sensitive- where if I don’t take it within literally 30 minutes my brain starts doing a whom-whom thing- so I just adjusted a pre-existing alarm for 11:11pm. And the song for my antidepressants just so happened to be Smile Like You Mean It by The Killers. It hasn’t changed.
This movie was soooo funny!! I know few (or no one) will agree but I think this was better than The Substance. The fact that it doesn’t take itself seriously puts it in a different league.
i recently watched the first movie with my relatives last october and really enjoyed it, was surprised to know there's a second one. ngl i can't watch it by myself so i'm only watching reactions to it so far lmao. at first i wasn't completely sold on naomi scott as the main character but she did a really great job!! i think this is one of her projects that shows her range as an actress and i hope this opens up more opportunities for her. i accidentally paused @ 0:07 ,, IM CRYINGGG
You know, they actually clue you in about the act 3 is not being real. There's the hard cut to the mom smiling, the gun safety was off which should've been on in storing, the unfit action at the car, and finally you'll see Morris smiling before he leaves the freezer if you look closely. And you know, it get more sadder to think that, on those car crash scene... Rose still living her life.

Crazy because when the first trailer dropped, EVERYONE and their mom predicted that ending. Lol
Calling it now, there's gonna be a shot in the third movie with all those people forming a big smile with their corpses.
13:15
I don't know if anyone caught this. But in the first film when Rose was doing the interview with Laura she said
"It's Thursday, October."
Which is nice knowing how they kpt the chronology intact. Because this would have been 3 weeks after that. So it's logical that it would take place in early Dec/late Nov.
Smile 2 over Longlegs EASY
Loved their reaction to that too!
I could not agree more.
I agree. Ilike this one far more than smile
Props to Naomi Scott. She really embodied being this character from singing and doing the choreography while also acting in a horror movie. She needs an award.
1:08:50 Gemma did say hi to her mom, but we didn't see her mom react to Gemma
Like even though I saw the ending coming I was still intrigued on how the journey would be to get there! It was crazy!!
Is it stress related?
fun fact: if Lewis seems familiar, he is played by Lukas Gage, who was in Road House with Jake Gyllenhall, which released earlier this year
And Fargo S5
I recognized him from You
He's Also in You season 4 and Euphoria season 1
Dang! You're right!
Naomi Scott was also in the Charlie’s Angels remake which I love - think I’m the only one who does - but I think she’s awesome.
If she went with Morris after the bar she could've lived. Everything after the dancers invasion was an ilusion. crazy stuff.
When the entity put its hand in her mouth at her house, that's when it achieved total body control. The entity was controlling her body, while her mind was stuck in a limbo, which is the part we saw in the movie. The last time entity released her was on stage, when it wanted to play the last step.
Morris was not real. Ever since she wore the performance suit the 1st time (complaining about the scar under lights) was an ilusion
This was more intense and scarier than the first one 😂 Naomi Scott deserves an award for her performance because it was brillant!
Love you two reacting together. Y'all are the REAL-REEL REJECTS!! 😎
Even the demon said "gross" when she said she had to go to Staten Island.
The intro of this movie was so good.
51:21 he mentioned 8 people before her thats roughly 2 months because it takes around a Week until it kills you.
The opening scene is one of the best I've seen this year after DP and Wolverine.
20:52 fun fact. They weren't even sponsored by it😂
there are some really great shots throughout the movie.
Loved the 1-shot intro especially
The mental gymnastics this franchise put our minds through is insane. And you can definitely see where they put the extra budget at in this film but didn’t go overboard with it
I’m so excited for this reaction! Your reaction to the first movie was so fun! I love the Shejects (and everyone else too!) but there’s nothing like the original duo!
Greg downing the water killed me lmao
Naomi Scott genuinely deserves a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars 2025 but we all know she will get snubbed just like Mia Goth in Pearl. Anyway, I hope they make a third and final smile film!
Not going to happen. The Academy always snubs horror
At 57:08 Greg’s face and when says “Damn there’s 40 minutes left of this movie” I was dead 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣
Also In the previous film they had another actor from the same run of House the director must be a fan of the show
Same. I forget carla was in the first tho
Not only waiting for her, but waiting to become strong enough by infecting people over the ages.
Couldn't the entity have killed itself in like... time square or any crowded city if they just wanted reach?
I don’t think I’ve been in a theater where ppl are genuinely freaked out and on edge in a while this was such a surprise
Gemma did say hi to skye's mom but notice that mom did not respond or said anything back so gemma never stayed at skye's apartment
Yes but also why was she around to say hi when skye was in the other room? Did skye say bye to her in front of her mom? Was she gone when skye came back? Wouldn't sky have inquired where her friend went ro if she were gone?
@tnashi22 when skye finished preparing and get her stuff, she assumed gemma already left after telling her she needs to go see a friend
I think the Smile entity control Skye whole mind until the tour in purpose to get a bunch of victims
Actor who plays Gemma is either a great actor who played bad written character well or just a bad actor. lol her no emotion to every horrific thing she saw or heard was funny af, "eww, noo, What ?" reaction to someone dying after smashing his own face with weights was hilarious.
Something about John and Greg makes me warm and fuzzy. If awards noticed horror then Toni Collette needs hers for Hereditary!
Exceptional reaction, fantastic discussion afterwards. Hope they make another sequel
These movies always kindof remind me of 1408 where you’re like “wait… is anything real?” Lol
This is definitely one of my favorite films of the year. Naomi Scott gives an Oscar nomination worthy performance, her character is so real with all her flaws. Ray Nicholson hopefully does more horror films or psychological thrillers, his acting reminds me of his legendary father
Dude was straight up FUBAR after getting hit by that truck in the intro 😂
They did really good with this 👏
Naomi Scott looks like a cross between Emilia Clarke and a young Sarah Michelle Geller in this
Her songs reminds me a lot of 2007 lady gaga, the lyrics and the voice.
Surprisingly a banger , the writing in this one was chefs kiss
1:26 there was no reason to call me out like that😂
As demonstrated by Sky drinking if it were a bottle of alcohol, which makes her way of showing her frustration similar to what was her decision to not show her true sign of insecurity. And what led her to finally show the monster. His tragic fate and the truth. , he wanted Sky to be saved.😭😭😔😣
I know Peter Jacobson as Dr Taub from House M.D. the television series.
Don’t forget Kal Penn in the previous film. Funny enough they both play doctors in both films. The director must be a fan of House
18:41 I wonder if the upside down scenes throughout the films is play on the saying “lets turn that frown upside down”
that’s what kept going through my head while watching the movie, especially when skye smears her makeup slightly downward it reminds me of a frown. the hands on her face seem to prioritize the corners of the lips too, like you know the thing where some people point at the corner of the lips with the pointer or thumbs and say to smile
Notice how the mom never acknowledged Gemma’s presence. She for sure would have since she pushed skye to call her. She would have been happy to see her
Undisputed duo! Glad to see you guys cover a movie together again.
Watched this last night and had a hard time falling asleep 😅 Enjoyed this one more than the first and I love your reactions!!
Omg it's boyf from Agatha and I didn't know she was from Aladin, thank you for the picture comp
Pink Ranger got some acting chops! 🩷🩷🩷
Even in that film she was giving it her all. Most of the acting in the Power rangers film was great it’s just not what people wanted.
Saw this movie 6 times in theaters (Regal Unlimited). So good. Naomi was spectacular. To exudes so much stress and anxiety is impressive.
Regal Unlimited mentioned 🔥
Loved how the Voss water was both a plug and a plot piece.
i randomly found a vid by yall and i check the uploads and yall literally uploaded a minute ago damn
13:54 Lukas Gage was just in Dead Boy Detectives as the Cat King and Miles Gutierrez was just in Agatha All Along, as Billy’s Boyfriend, Eddie.
Thank you .I known I had seen him before .love Dead Boys
okay now greg really has to watch Lemonade Mouth, naomi scott is my fav character in that movie!
My level of excitement at this is unmatched. I was waiting for this to drop!
This movie was soooo funny!! I know few (or no one) will agree but I think this was better than The Substance. The fact that it doesn’t take itself seriously puts it in a different league.
This soundtrack had me uncomfortable omg 😳
I've never seen the first one, only some clips/spoilers, and I loved this!!!
Finally! Went to see this for my date night definitely different from the original loved the bit with the back up dancers
i recently watched the first movie with my relatives last october and really enjoyed it, was surprised to know there's a second one. ngl i can't watch it by myself so i'm only watching reactions to it so far lmao. at first i wasn't completely sold on naomi scott as the main character but she did a really great job!! i think this is one of her projects that shows her range as an actress and i hope this opens up more opportunities for her.
i accidentally paused @ 0:07 ,, IM CRYINGGG
You know, they actually clue you in about the act 3 is not being real. There's the hard cut to the mom smiling, the gun safety was off which should've been on in storing, the unfit action at the car, and finally you'll see Morris smiling before he leaves the freezer if you look closely. And you know, it get more sadder to think that, on those car crash scene... Rose still living her life.
I love the reaction guys and I do hope your other Reel Rejects Team members watch & react to Smile 1 & 2 as well
