This car is an instant classic. I was just reading the story about it in Rodder Journal, but it's cool to see the build on video. Great job.

The Chrisman coupe has always been a favorite of mine and the inspiration for my 7" chop on my 47 International. I am also using two hoods to similar affect.

Back in the 1970's I attended a car auction held in the parking garage of the Universal Sheaton Hotel (part of the Universal City complex in Los Angeles). I came upon a coupe that was in sad shape (missing pieces and looking neglected) and had Dobbie Gillis painted on the side. While I didn't know any of the history of the car, I was totally captivated by it and spent much time admiring it and checking out the build. I wanted to buy it, of course, but was just out of school and didn't have $50 to my name. I was very curious as to the price of the car and, for some reason, think it was bid somewhere around $5,000, which was a very princely sum for a hot rod at that time. Only later did I figure out that the car was the Chrisman coupe. It is nearly 50 years later and my memory is foggy although I've thought about that event many times. Can anyone add to this story?

When this build was at bobby's place I used to peak through the windows, I miss seeing what Lucky and Bobby were building in there.

@@MADFABRICATORSTV just because hes been doing it for 20+ years doesn't mean it's right the flash of the arc still damages your eyes even if it's for a brief second it may only cause minor damage but over a number of years adds up to major problems later in life I just don't wanna see your bud go blind I've seen many fabricators fall into a bad habit and end up damaging something that stops them from doing what they enjoy the most don't let your friend be one of them...
