Bryce! Great list. Totally different to mine which I'll put up shortly. Gotta say mate, from a 47 yr Dio freak, it's awesome to see someone a lot younger showing such passion and helping others discover Dio. Good on you brother \m/
I was shocked The Last in Line was 5th on your list bummer thats my favorite haha. I agree with Lock Up The Wolves at number 3 that is maybe his best album outside the first 2. Great list i love Dio my favorite band
honestly id say another great track from Lock up the wolves would be My Eyes because of the countless references that DIO makes in the song to his whole entire career up until that point and the overall transitions in the song are great, its almost like Judas Priest's Beryond the Realms of Death in a way with the transitions in the song, overall great list.
As always great list Bryce! Also love the Undertaker. Here's my list: 10. Angry Machines ( worst album from a great band that came out at the tail end of their low period) 9. Master of the Moon ( Better than angry Machines, but not memorable other than the cover) I agree Bryce! 8. Strange Highways ( Again another hit and miss album, a bit to grungy for my tastes) 7. Lock up the Wolves ( I thought this was the start of a low period for the band, some decent songs but definitely not memorable) 6. Magica ( really dark, but some great stuff on here, love albums that tell stories) 5. Killing the Dragon ( Just a really good album from beginning to end) 4. Sacred Heart ( Probably Dio's most "mainstream" album but great songs and riffs throughout) 3. Dream Evil ( Very Underrated album) 2. Last in Line ( Great riffs and songwriting throughout) 1. Holy Diver (Easily their best, not a bad song on the album)
Prity accurate list there....his best work was the 1980s stuff after that things went downhill especially on angry machines terrible album must be the worst he's ever made completely rubbish

Thanks for this list, Bryce. I’m going to have to listen to some more Dio. I have his first 5 albums in my collection but haven’t heard anything beyond “Lock Up the Wolves”. Here’s my Top 5 Dio albums: #5 Sacred Heart #4 Lock Up the Wolves #3 Dream Evil #2 The Last In Line #1 Holy Diver
Give us more thoughts, opinions...love hearing them! You are very knowledgeable and enjoy watching you! Keep it going. It's hard for me to rank Dio as there is small differences between the peaks and valleys so to speak. I enjoy how his sound changed through the years.
Keep it up. I like your channel. And it’s nice to know all hope is not lost, with a younger generation. It seems most in your age group listen to pop, rap, hip hop. Too bad you didn’t grow up during this era. Concerts were so much fun and reasonably cheap. I would spend between 7 to 15 dollars for shows between 1977 and 1990.
I enjoyed your list. Here is mine. 1. Holy Diver- There is not a weak song of this album. I love the recent remix. My favorites Dio song is Don't Talk to Strangers. The title track and Invisible are two other highlights. 2. Dream Evil- The first side of this album is untouchable. Sunset Superman is highly underrated. All the Fools Sailed Away never gets old. 3. The Last in Line- This is a high three for me. At times, it could be at number two. This was the current album when I started listening to Dio. Egypt and the title track are highlights. 4. Strange Highways- This album has been moving up the list for me because I've been revisiting it lately. I don't get the negativity about Tracy G because I love his style. Granted, he is not "traditional" but he is innovative. Give Her the Gun is a masterpiece. I also love the title track and Jesus, Mary, and the Holy Ghost. 5. Angry Machines- It's fairly common to rank this album low, but I am a fan. I remember how refreshing this albums felt when I first heard it. I've always loved the Pilson composition Stay Out of My Mind. It's middle section is both trippy and sinister. This is Your Life gives me chills. 6. Sacred Heart- I saw Dio on this tour when I was 12. It was my first concert. As an outcast, Rock and Roll Children really hit a nerve. Like the Beat of a Heart is a gem. It's not a coincidence that my top six feature Appice, as he is one of my favorite drummers. I didn't plan it that way though. 7. Killing the Dragon- On a good day this one could go as high as number five. I don't get why some people don't think Aldrich is a good fit. 8. Magica- I enjoy this album for the most part, but there are a couple of tracks that don't work for me. 9. Lock Up the Wolves- I'm not the biggest fan of this album. Evil on Queen Street is my least favorite song in Dio's solo catalog. 10. Master of the Moon- I struggle with this album but enjoy One More for the Road.
Too Seven Honorable mention ....Magical 7. Killing the dragon 6. Lock up the wolves 5. Master of the moon 4. Dream evil 3. Last in line 2. Holy diver 1. Sacred heart
I’m gonna go: 10. Sacred Heart 9. Strange Highways 8. Master Of The Moon 7. Lock Up The Wolves 6. Dream Evil 5. Killing The Dragon 4. The Last In Line 3. Angry Machines 2. Magica 1. Holy Diver
Good video, fairly close to my ranking this time. I would put Magica lower and put Last in Line and Strange Highways higher. Tracy G was amazing on that album.

@@fireball8767 How is Angry Machines worse than an album like Sacred Heart? I'll take songs like Double Monday and Don't Tell The Kids over Shoot Shoot and Hungry For Heaven

Iv been a fan since 1986..sacred heart was 1st album I got on cassette..favorite song ever is last in line...2 x albums I love for guitar work and melodic sounds are killing dragon and wolf's...the 1st 4 albums are a must..God bless you Ronnie..
My Dio ranking 1. The Last In Line (1984) 2. Angry Machines (1996) 3. Dream Evil (1987) 4. Holy Diver (1983) 5. Strange Highways (1993) 6. Master Of The Moon (2004) 7. Sacred Heart (1985) 8. Killing The Dragon (2002) 9. Lock Up The Wolves (1990) 10. Magica (2000)
Its certainly interesting and a bit surpicing to see your ranking, but it shows that people have different taste and there is nothing wrong with that. As someone that has been a HUGE fan of Dio since the 80´s and bought most of the albums when they were released i would rank them like this. 1- Holy Diver 2- Last in line 3- Dream evil 4 -Sacred heart 5- Strange highways 6- Angry machines 7- Master of the moon 8- Killing the dragon 9- Lock up the wolves 10- Magica
#10 Magica #9 Angry Machines #8 Killing The Dragon #7 Master of the Moon #6 Strange Highways #5 Lock Up the Wolves #4 Sacred Heart #3 Dream Evil #2 Last In Line #1 Holy Diver
Great list, but I'd switch Angry Machines with Magica and then Master of the Moon with Angry Machines. And the I would place Strange Highways right after Last in Line ... which would be Nr. 2 in my book (yeah, before Dream Evil ... sue me 😀) Still love that you placed Dream Evil and Lock up the Wolves so high 👍Love seeing the torch passed on to the younger Generation. I'm from 1976 😉
My rankings: 1. Holy Diver 2. Last in Line 3. Dream Evil 4. Master of the Moon 5. Killing the Dragon 6. Lock up the Wolves 7. Strange Highways 8. Sacred Heart 9. Angry Machines 10. Magic’s I like all his albums and I know some of the ones in the middle of my list may be a bit surprising but those two and Holy Diver tend to be the ones I go back to the most
Let's see.... Mine would be this list, i don't like Magica and Master Of The Moon at all(i really tried to like them thou and i will keep on trying) But the only concept album i really like is The Crimson Idol, so there is no shame in that in think :p 10) Magica 5/10 9) Master Of The Moon 5,5/10 8) Killing The Dragon 7/10 7) Sacred Heart 7,5/10 6) Angry Machines 8/10 5) The Last In Line 8,5/10 4) Dream Evil 8,6/10 3) Lock Up The Wolves 8,9/10 2) Strange Highways 9/10 1) Holy Diver 10/10
I love Sacred Heart, sure there is some filler on it, but it has some awesome tracks: king of rock and roll, title track, hungry for heaven, rock and roll children all smoke
I love Dio! Imo his solo work is better than sabbath (but I will say H&H is the best album he is involved with) 10. Angry Machines 3/5 9. Killing the Dragon 3.25/5 8. Magica 3.5/5 7. Master of the Moon 4/5 6. Lock Up the Wolves 4.25/5 5. Sacred Heart 4.25/5 4. Strange Highways 4.5/5 3. Last in Line 5/5 2. Dream Evil 5/5 1. Holy Diver 5/5 Lots of fantastic music from Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and the Heaven and Hell supergroup as well
Here's my ranking: Good/Very Good: Angry Machines (there are decent tracks, but the album is a mess) Excellent: Sacred Heart, Lock Up The Wolves, Strange Highways, Killing The Dragon, Magica, Master Of The Moon The best: Holy Diver, The Last In Line, Dream Evil
"Holy Diver" I suppose is a no brainer for the #1 spot. However, I was surprised to see "Last in Line" at #5 though. I'd say that album is probably a solid #2 for about 70-80% of Dio fans.
Last in Line had 2 really big "hits," but the rest of the songs are mediocre. The guitar work on them is great, but the lyrics and choruses to the rest of the songs range from "decent" to "ok." Did had 5 better albums, 4 of which I agree with Bryce on. I would have added Strange Highways ahead of Last in Line. IMHO. But unlike a few posters here, I like all Did albums, including Angry Machines and Master of the Moon. But you are correct, most Did fans would put Last in Line at #2. Cheers
From least to beast, I'd go... Angry Machines Magica Master of the Moon Strange Highways Killing the Dragon Lock Up the Wolves Dream Evil Sacred Heart Last In Line Holy Diver
Can't be that great. I do appreciate that you do this really quick. I only know 3 of their tunes: Rainbow in the Dark, Holy Diver and Last in Line - which I can't stand. Rainbow in the Dark is my favorite song of this group and yes Ronnie was amazing.
Dio has become my 2nd favorite vocalist of all time. Glad i saw both Dio & Heaven and Hell bands live. Respect to Bruce & Halford but Dio was the best of the three. His more aggressive music & vocals are vicious. #1 Holy Diver #2 The Last In Line #3 Magica #4 Killing The Dragon #5 Strange Highways #6 Dream Evil #7 Lock Up The Wolves #8 Master Of The Moon #9 Sacred Heart #10 Angry Machines
I can't wait to see your number one pick cuz you're not one of the people that's been there since oh I seen them here and there or whatever. My personal favorite is lock up the wolves.

@@paulklimo2396 I will definitely try SH again I recently bought the 1st 5 Dio albums! I'm surprised I didn't like AM because I love the Appice brothers!
@@metalmelodies6718 Vinny Appice is my favourite drummer and i think some of his best work in DIo is on Angry machines, Angry machines is Dio going more modern and even a little progressive i would say with odd time signatures and such, this started with the Dehumanizer album from Black sabbath which both Dio and Appice were on and on into Strange highways and culminated in Angry machines. Strange highways and Angry machines isnt the classic Dio style really and that is probably why many dont seem to like them as much, i like them very much myself.
Sacred Heart is Dio's weakest album. The mix is so brittle. The songwriting is so tired. It's just the same ideas of the albums that came before, but worse. I love your placement of Lock Up the Wolves, underrated album. All in all, not bad. I'd put the Tracy G albums lower, but that's just me.
@@TinchoRinaldi2023mar He said Sacred Heart is the weakest, it’s one of their best by the way, then goes on to say it’s tired and the same as the ones before it, it’s only their THIRD album by the way, when Lock Up The Wolves came out 5 years later, is more tired sounding and weaker than Sacred Heart. @@JCStorm76 I'm one of the 75% sacred heart good album it would be my number 3 in the same order they were brought out....holy diver number 1 last in line number 2 & sacred heart number 3 that's how I would rate them in exactly the same order as they were released

I think everybody would put angry machines bottom terrible album
@@fireball8767 Wrong
@@TotalMeltdown2 wrong about what?
@@fireball8767 How is Angry Machines worse than an album like Sacred Heart? I'll take songs like Double Monday and Don't Tell The Kids over Shoot Shoot and Hungry For Heaven
@@TotalMeltdown2 I strongly beg to differ & so would most people....angry machines would be at the bottom of most people's list not just mine & it was a complete failure in thee album charts also didn't even chart
Hey man just ran into your channel from your Ozzy Osborne video, Dio reigns king in my eyes!! Subbed, can't wait to see your channel grow

My Dio ranking
1. The Last In Line (1984)
2. Angry Machines (1996)
3. Dream Evil (1987)
4. Holy Diver (1983)
5. Strange Highways (1993)

7. Sacred Heart (1985)
8. Killing The Dragon (2002)
9. Lock Up The Wolves (1990)
10. Magica (2000)
Its certainly interesting and a bit surpicing to see your ranking, but it shows that people have different taste and there is nothing wrong with that. As someone that has been a HUGE fan of Dio since the 80´s and bought most of the albums when they were released i would rank them like this.
1- Holy Diver
2- Last in line
3- Dream evil
4 -Sacred heart
5- Strange highways
6- Angry machines
7- Master of the moon
8- Killing the dragon
9- Lock up the wolves
10- Magica
@Bryce TalksMetal
BTW.....thank you for Dream Evil as #2!! Very cool!! Thank you!!
#10 Magica
#9 Angry Machines
#8 Killing The Dragon
#7 Master of the Moon
#6 Strange Highways
#5 Lock Up the Wolves
#4 Sacred Heart
#3 Dream Evil
#2 Last In Line
#1 Holy Diver
"Shoot, Shoot" is "Shit, Shit!" Drop that and add "Hide in the Rainbow" and it improves drastically!
I'm from 1976 😉
Keep it up man videos are very entertaining
My rankings:
1. Holy Diver
2. Last in Line
3. Dream Evil
4. Master of the Moon
5. Killing the Dragon
6. Lock up the Wolves
7. Strange Highways
8. Sacred Heart
9. Angry Machines
10. Magic’s
I like all his albums and I know
some of the ones in the middle of my list may be a bit surprising but those two and Holy Diver tend to be the ones I go back to the most
Dream Evil is incredibly underrated....better than Holy Diver in my opinion. Right up there with Last In Line.
@Rudy Rosas
Thank you Rudy!! Very cool of you!!
Let's see....
Mine would be this list, i don't like Magica and Master Of The Moon at all(i really tried to like them thou and i will keep on trying) But the only concept album i really like is The Crimson Idol, so there is no shame in that in think :p
10) Magica 5/10
9) Master Of The Moon 5,5/10
8) Killing The Dragon 7/10
7) Sacred Heart 7,5/10
6) Angry Machines 8/10
5) The Last In Line 8,5/10
4) Dream Evil 8,6/10
3) Lock Up The Wolves 8,9/10
2) Strange Highways 9/10
1) Holy Diver 10/10
I love Sacred Heart, sure there is some filler on it, but it has some awesome tracks: king of rock and roll, title track, hungry for heaven, rock and roll children all smoke
Love ronnie James dio! He's such a great Person and Artist. Love his work with rainbow Elf and black sabbath! ❤️❤️❤️
I love Dio! Imo his solo work is better than sabbath (but I will say H&H is the best album he is involved with)
10. Angry Machines 3/5
9. Killing the Dragon 3.25/5
8. Magica 3.5/5
7. Master of the Moon 4/5
6. Lock Up the Wolves 4.25/5
5. Sacred Heart 4.25/5
4. Strange Highways 4.5/5
3. Last in Line 5/5

Lots of fantastic music from Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and the Heaven and Hell supergroup as well
Awesome man. Rank Ozzy dude
Sacred heart is killer from first to last track.
Ok 1 Minute...Subscribed To your Channel
Here's my ranking:
Good/Very Good: Angry Machines (there are decent tracks, but the album is a mess)
Excellent: Sacred Heart, Lock Up The Wolves, Strange Highways, Killing The Dragon, Magica, Master Of The Moon
The best: Holy Diver, The Last In Line, Dream Evil
It’s crazy to me you haven’t heard fares wanting, such a good band and in the top 3 for founders of prog metal, with queensrych and dream theater
"Holy Diver" I suppose is a no brainer for the #1 spot. However, I was surprised to see "Last in Line" at #5 though. I'd say that album is probably a solid #2 for about 70-80% of Dio fans.
Definitely.....holy diver & last in line would be my number 1 & 2 all day long...with angry machines being rock bottom terrible album from him
Last in Line had 2 really big "hits," but the rest of the songs are mediocre. Cheers
let's be honest - Dio's albums are at least solid
From least to beast, I'd go...
Angry Machines
Magica
Master of the Moon
Strange Highways
Killing the Dragon
Lock Up the Wolves
Dream Evil
Sacred Heart
Last In Line
Holy Diver
Fuck yeah the Undertaker
Can't be that great. I do appreciate that you do this really quick. I only know 3 of their tunes: Rainbow in the Dark, Holy Diver and Last in Line - which I can't stand. Rainbow in the Dark is my favorite song of this group and yes Ronnie was amazing.
Im sorry but how the h is last in line 5...its their best album
Giantsfan88 No it’s not
What's the album under Sin after sin in your video.
Fire Power by Legs Diamond
@@brycetalksmetal thanks man
Why are everyone in the comment section hating on Magica? Its the 2nd best Dio album behind the debut imo.
Hoonter Barrels It’s boring and too long that’s why.
No hate here!
My favorite Dio album. Music is subjective. If you like it, that is all that matters.
slayer next ?
I actually ranked their albs a while back: ruclips.net/video/3MA6YnXqtWw/видео.html
Dio has become my 2nd favorite vocalist of all time. Glad i saw both Dio & Heaven and Hell bands live. Respect to Bruce & Halford but Dio was the best of the three. His more aggressive music & vocals are vicious.
#1 Holy Diver
#2 The Last In Line
#3 Magica
#4 Killing The Dragon
#5 Strange Highways
#6 Dream Evil
#7 Lock Up The Wolves
#8 Master Of The Moon
#9 Sacred Heart
#10 Angry Machines
I can't wait to see your number one pick cuz you're not one of the people that's been there since oh I seen them here and there or whatever.
My personal favorite is lock up the wolves.
only 3 albums..that's it
1. Holy Diver
2. Sacred Heart
3. The Last in Line
Did Ronnie James Dio ever put out a bad album?
And magica
And the worst DIO album is still a good one....😅
🤣🤣🤣 Vinny who? The drummer go back to school teen ager
I have been listening Master of the Moon this week, It' s my least favorite. I have not listen Angry Machines and Killing the Dragon
this is easy no vivian campbell no more good albums and dio would play bars the rest of his career
False
@@brycetalksmetal what part.
lol... google his touring career sacred heart ended his career. the price to pay for backstabbing his original solo band
Multiple great albums after Sacred Heart and they still played big venues a lot of the time... rarely if ever did Dio play at a bar
@@brycetalksmetal ok think a little history is in order.... first 2 were platinum...sacred shit went gold and would b the " last charting album in his career". translation no one bought the crap to follow. when I say bars u know I mean non arena..after playing the meadowlands for last in line dio booked the garden for the heart tour with a huge stage...he would have to cancel n play studio 54... a big bar
@Bryce TalksMetal
Just for future reference....Ronnie and I did all the keyboards on "Magica" & "Master of the Moon"
Not Scott.
There's a reason for that.....another story for another time!
wtf! you're Craig Goldy !! Hey, Dream Evil is one of my favourite metal albums of all time. Your guitar is awesome there. Regards from Uruguay.

I'm back on a Dio binge, & to be honest the only Dio albums I don't listen to are Sacred Heart & Poop Machines!
Give SH and AM another try. SH was one I didn't like initially but now enjoy. AM is one that has to be approached with a different mindset.
Strange highways gotta be higher my number 2 or 3
Sacred Heart is Dio's weakest album. The mix is so brittle. The songwriting is so tired. It's just the same ideas of the albums that came before, but worse. I love your placement of Lock Up the Wolves, underrated album. All in all, not bad. I'd put the Tracy G albums lower, but that's just me.
Jack Kent Not even close to their worst my friend
@@JCStorm76 Agree 👍 Sacred Heart is a very good album.
Ask any Dio fan and at least 75% will agree
@@JCStorm76 I'm one of the 75% sacred heart good album it would be my number 3 in the same order they were brought out....holy diver number 1 last in line number 2 & sacred heart number 3 that's how I would rate them in exactly the same order as they were released
@@fireball8767 The first 4 are the best actually. Dream Evil is really good too . Maybe even the third best
