How to Fix PS4 Sound Not Working (5 Tips and More!)

Are you having no sound issues on the Playstation 4??? Fixing PS4 Sound not working can be frustrating. To trouble shoot this problem, fix inspect your connections with the HDMI cable on the back of the PS4 and your TV. Try a different HDMI cable or switch the HDMI input port your PS4 is plugged into on the TV. Furthermore, inspect the sound volume on the TV and headset to insure its not turned down all the way.
Next, check your output device on the PS4 to make sure its selected to your TV or Headset. Then go to the sound / devices and check your audio output setting to insure that the HDMI audio source is selected and not optical if your using and HDMI cable. Also, check the headset output settings and see if chat audio is selected over all audio. So fixing the no sound problems on the PS4 is about eliminating possible problems until you find the cause of the No Sound on the PS4.

Wait when you went to audio output settings you had 2 i only had one ? can someone help? the only option i got was audio format(priority) and when i clicked on it, it gave me 3 options Linear PCM, Bitstream (dolby), Bitstream (DTS)???

I'm having similar issue. During a game I heard the sound fizzle out through my headset. No audio at all. And it's plugged directly into the usb of the PS4. The only way I can play now is plugging my headset without usb audio controller straight into the controller with the 3.5 mm jack. It's annoying though because my mic quality went from a 9 to a 2 and it kills my controllers battery time way quicker. I've cleaned the usb ports. Tried all settings changes. Tried restoring the data base and I have nothing changes. All other functions of the usb are working. I can charge controllers. I can stick a USB drive in and play movies. But the audio just doesn't output to my headset via usb dongle. And I've used the same headset and dongle in my laptop just fine. So it's got to be something with the port right? Hoping you found a solution.

Idk why or how it fixed it but it did. I changed all cables and it didn't work. I tried on different TVs, messed with PS4 audio settings and TV audio settings but none fixed it. I haven't even plugged headphones into my controller and found no reason to how or why changing uncheckmarking that box fixed everything. Does anyone have any answers?
