I'm SOOO glad I found this video. I'm currently walking around in my woods, looking for safe branches to use for my new young budgie I got yesterday (about 3 months old), & I was LITERALLY about to cut some red maple braches. Almost everywhere on google says that they're safe. I'm planning on skinning, washing, & possibly baking the branches in the oven to ensure that they are 110% safe to use. I'd prefer to find a tree with safe bark for chewing, but right now my main objective is to just make a temporary perch. My budgie seems to love the thinner perches on his water & food bowls rather than the wooden swing (he's new, today is day 2, so I know that this can change), so I want to give him more options to perch on while he gets accustomed to his new home. I'm in Maryland, & I'm lucky enough to live on a 10 acre property that's totally surrounded by woods, but I'm having trouble finding wood that's 100% safe. Most of the trees around me are white oak & red maple, but we do have a couple of pine trees planted from may Christmases ago (before we switched to a fake tree), so I might just go with that type of branch.
@•Itz aesthetic Star• yup it's best it you water it down after u take it into your house before putting it in cage or using it for bird just to be clean don't use any scented smell or any chemicals just use water to clean it and a rag

do you have a video on how to change a bird’s diet from seed only to pelleted one? If not do you have any tips on switching a seed only diet to a pelleted and vegetable one? Because my bird won’t eat any vegetables or pellets at all! My cockatiel is a female, so I know that she needs more calcium than male cockatiels but she only eats seeds and nothing else Ps- love the vid I’ll definitely try to make the perch for my bird
I got my 1st pet budgies and i was trying to figure out which tree is safe ! Is it okay to use moringa oleifera and neem ?? I searched on ur website but can't find their names Please help me! 🙇🏻♀️
Use hibiscus or orange they are safe and easily available. Neem contain a lot of oil and things that irritate birds feet and throat if chewed. So better not use that.
Thank you!! I have some natural perches for my birds, but they are so expensive so I have a lot of dowels too. This will be really good for me so I don't have to spend dozens of dollars on perches.

Idk but 1 cap of bleach can sterilize a gallon of water so that was definitely too much bleach even if it’s safe in the first place which I’m not convinced
Could I go out and collect branches in the winter and wash and bleach them and leave them out in the sun even though it is still freezing at night but sunny during the day?
Does the branches have to be freshly cut from the tree? Is it ok to take the ones that have fallen/broken around the tree? And, does the bugs not go back into it if we leave them outside in the sun? 🤔
Late reply but straight from the tree is preferable, that way there's less bugs and mold and such. But if you clean it thoroughly and know what tree it's from then you should still be fine!
I am sure many birds survive pecking woods in the wild without boiling, bleaching, drying, baking, removing the bark, sun drying dazzling and shizzling any of them. most of the steps here are unnuecessary.
