Great job as always!!😘 The one with no toys can always make toys out of safe household items. Paper, toilet paper rolls, even things rolled in leafy greens are great. You don't always have to spend a lot of money!!
I feel bad for the bird in the blue cage because it is obvious that poor bird was an impulse buy. The owner didn't do enough research and that makes me really sad. Of course, I have a small cage for my budgie, but that is just temporary because we are going to move her in with our other budgie that has a much bigger cage. I hate people that are willing to buy a living, breathing animal and don't take care of it! Your birds are very lucky and obviously loved greatly. I love my two budgies with all my heart, Mango and Cookie, everyone should take care of there birds.
@@keetsntiels5112 I know. Me too. And I have to add to my initial comment, that anyone submitting a rate my cage, has obviously seen the cages on Live Laugh Bird. They would know what's acceptable and what's not. The food as well. So as the Tiel continued to come to my mind days later, I believe it was intentional. Some people are awful humans. 😡
I’ve seen people say perches are expensive 1st: not really 2nd you can just go outside find a big stick take it and wash it and cut it to size and mount t
You also have to soak in bleach, then water, then bake it, then let it sit out in the sun for a couple of days and make sure that tree is safe for birds and there is also a lot of RUclips videos about that
My bird is crazy spoiled, he’s a budgie who lives in a 4 foot x 1 1/2 foot cockatiel cage with 5 or so perches made up of grapevines, some sticks, he has a ton of toys, and he eats seed, pellets, and fruit and greens that are human-quality. He also gets tons of out-of-cage time and he can fly at least half the time I also made him a massive play stand with perches and things to chew
That's cool.. im sad cause my bird lived an a small greenhouse, there's alot of space but its hard to fees them... Their also fully-flighted so ye they like it there, i think.. i mean their preteening in there and flying every where
i rescued a tiel in even a smaller cage. its tail was sticking out of the cage while the tiel was just sitting on the other end of the cage. i dont even call it a cage, rather say its a nice flowerpot.. its so sad to see those babies in that small of a cage..
Super Chickens, same here, my dad and I where given a cockatiel pair when our neighbors moved. They gave them to us in the night and when we got the cage I was horrified. It barely had any flying space and was one of those cages that where thinner but taller with a round top, only one perch and one toy. As soon as the sun rose the next morning my dad and I went to a local pet store and got them a way better cage and toys. They have loved it ever since and loving being on top of the cage where we set up a playground and love to fly around our house.
Super Chickens I see one of your videos with two very beautiful rabbits in the thumbnail, but their cage looks very small. Bunnies need at least 8 square feet of space but it’s best to use 12-16 square feet or more. I recommend using an x-pen that’s at least 3 feet tall. They are about 35-45 US dollars on amazon. For bedding you can use fleece or some blankets. You need some kind of padding because they don’t have paw pads like cats, dogs, and many other common pets. You can also easily litter train them. Find a RUclips video on how to do it. (Recommended rabbit RUclips channels at end of comment) For their diet you should feed 1/4 cup of pellets per day. No extra colors, flavors, or seeds. Rabbits can’t digest seeds. You also need to give two cups of vegetables per rabbit. Dark leafy greens are great, but look up anything you are not sure that they can eat. They should also have unlimited hay. Orchard grass or Timothy hay. It should be a nice shade of green and shouldn’t have anything extra in it. You can give small pieces of fruit for a treat. Herbs are optional but great. The rest you can figure out yourself using these channels and some other sources. Double check everything you hear. Channels to watch: 101Rabbits, Victoria Raechel, Hook’s Hollands, and StormyRabbits
I love how she's being honest and not holding anything back. Kermit, Pearl and Ducky are honestly the most adorable feather balls I've ever seen. #TeamBudgie! Thank you for reading this comment... if you did...
I can totally understand how that cage is very small for that bird! I don’t know the owner of that bird(or where they live)and maybe no one will see this comment. But maybe that person is not educated enough and thats why they sent that picture to gain knowledge and get some constructive criticism. Bird cages can get really expensive and sometimes its the bird store’s fault for telling the customers that “small cages are fine” ! When i got my bird the store told me millet and sunflower seeds were fine for my cockatiel but i came on the internet and educated myself! So hopefully that person will do the same. For the cage you don’t always have to spend hundreds to buy but you can get someone to help you and build one together!
I hate that I listened to one of the pet smart employees that said “oh get two budgies otherwise the other one will live less bc of sadness” I honestly wish I went with my gut to get one so I could have a better bond with them. It’s to the point where I walk next to the cage and they fly to the back immediately. I also hate the method that pet smart used to get them, they walked in the room with a net caught them not very gently and shoved them in a box. I know I shouldn’t have gotten them from pet smart but I was not well educated at the time. I honestly just want my birds to love me as much as I do to them.
@Ella Salem Have you tried separating them? It makes the process a lot easier. Don't be sad that you listened to the employee because once you get them tamed, having two really pays off! That way they have you during the day and their friend at night. Getting two was honestly the best decision I've ever made because they're bonded and are absolutely adorable together. It does make it more difficult to tame them but it really is worth it. You can still do it I believe in you!
Yay! I’m so glad more people are listening to her because this is an important matter. Birds are living things with souls and personalities just live any animal and they deserve the best. I don’t know how a person could live with themselves with making a living organism with a kind and loving soul who is so innocent go through so much pain
So,I used Untreated wood and un galvanized.the reason why is because i can just make as much space as i want to,So look galvanized are bad for birds normal wood to.so you have to get untreated wood.
I really wish that those small flimsy cages with the plastic bottoms would just go away. A couple of the cages made me really sad for the birds. I know not everybody gets it right the first time, but you gotta do your research first. Why spend $50 on a small cage, when you can just get a nice flight cage 3-4 times the size for around $100 on amazon? They're cheap. Even if the birds are out of the cage most of the day like mine, I'd still rather my bird have a ton of room to climb and play for times when they do have to go in the cage. She loves her cage & will go in & play on her own. I hope everyone listens to the recommendations.
I just really wish they didnt advertise it as a bird cage and instead as a travel cage. They're great for taking your bird to the vet and stuff but nothing else!
Thank god i got a bigger cage for my love bird. The cage I got him in was EXTREMELY small, so we got him a bigger cage which is so much healthier for him and he seems alot happier. Thank you for helping me realize how i could make him happier and healthier.
I don’t think people realize how easy it is to make toys for your birds ... I’m sitting here seeing that people can’t find toys in their area or are buying toys that I have seen that are over priced in stores (like most of the cardboard toys, are like $10 or over in stores in my area) and I’m completely baffled! What I would recommend is making toys for your birds... and it is soooo easy! What I do is Get a piece of string Get an egg carton (make sure it’s not plastic!!), if you don’t eat eggs, ask your neighbour or a friend. I’m sure someone you know eats eggs and has an extra egg carton that they don’t need. Egg cartons are my cockatiel’s favourite thing to chew Get a paper towel/ toilet paper roll Get scrap pieces of paper that your are not using... You can even use paper towel... (my cockatiel doesn’t like to chew on paper towel because she like to hear the crunch when she chews on it) Next, now that you have gathered materials. You need to assemble! Take your chewing materials and with the pointy tip of a knife, poke a tiny hole in each one Then string the materials onto the string... tie a knot and add it to the side of the bird cage! In the next couple of weeks you will find that you will need to add new material cause it would be all chewed up!!! Now, if your too lazy to do that, I have something even simpler!! If you eat cereal or anything that comes out of a cardboard box, rip off a piece of the box and use a binder clip to clip it to the edge of your cage. Boom! Super duper easy toys for your bird! One last thing, Please give your birds toys it is very easy... and inexpensive to make toys! Bird don’t care it is in the shape of a heart or a star, if it’s is folded neatly in a the shape a a box! They just want to chew! There should be no excuse for not providing the proper materials!!! Also for those of you who are wondering, I have a normal gray female cockatiel, I’ve had her for 7ish months and her name is Cleo!! I have to give the credit for this idea to my mom, she was sick of buying over priced toys, and just started making her own! Thanks mom!
So true!! , I live in a really rural area where the nearest pet shop is an hour away and all the bird toys are so expensive!!! Even the cages are so small yet so over priced! So with the help of my dad we made a big cage and all the toys and perches, using branches and ropes and stuf ,,, so easy and so cheap!!! 😂😍
Thank you so much! I’ve been looking into getting my very first bird and it’s been intimidating. One of my big concerns was constantly replacing toys. I can’t believe I never thought of this! Thank you so much!! (/.w.)/✨
It’s so nice to see someone doing a video like this solely with the intention of being helpful and educating others and not passing judgement or being unkind. She’s doing a better job at that than any adult pet youtuber that I’ve seen.
@@ElleAndTheBirdsBefore I saw your channel, I never knew how to take care of a bird. Now after watching most of your vids, I'm giving advice to new people! It's amazing how I improved on how to take care of birds!
My cockatoo used to be kept in one of those little hanging canary cages that I’m not sure are even appropriate for canaries. Almost all of his toes are bent backwards either from being broken or growing that way because of the thin bars. He’s very happy now with his huge cage and he’s a big spoiled baby with all his toys :)
@@thetheatreorgan168 No? You have to give the cockatiel the car, too! Have you not done any research? The cockatiel CLEARLY needs the entire family wealth! I have no idea what you were thinking...
that cockatiel in the blue cage breaks my heart. i couldn't even imagine putting my bird in something like this. literally message me and i will take in your bird since you don't deserve it
Don’t say that that is extremely rude some people just aren’t as educated on the matter and hopefully after this video will realize it’s not right and change the cage. You shouldn’t say they don’t deserve the bird or are disgusting unless they did it on purpose. And even so I agree they should have done research before getting it but still try and be a little nicer.
ErenTheBombJaeger i don't give a shit if they don't know. they're scumbags for getting an animal without doing the proper research before hand and they don't deserve that bird
Agreed, he should have done his research, I did a month of research on what’s better for my cockatiels, and still search things up when I’m not 100% sure on something for the bird
15:53 Who the heck do they think they are putting that beautiful cockatiel in that small of a cage and with no toys not even perches and just with food. I am so mad at that person under any circumstances of getting that bird there is no excuse for doing no research!
I have a cockatiel with only food and water in her cage, I keep asking my parents for toys and perches they’re just laughing at me telling me they don’t need it, they wont let me get vegetables either they’re only feeding her seeds
I’ve never seen anyone saying suggest instead of getting mad cranky and rude to the people and say things like “that’s not acceptable” “that’s horrible” . Your so nice
I had that thought too considering someone with a terrible setup would probably not send a cage for review? At the same time thought, even if its not the actual owner who sent it in, that bird lives in terrible conditions and it makes me sad
I hope so. But there is evidence that it is a troll, for example, it was sent to elle’s YT channel which is completely all about birds and information about them. So if it was sent to her then the person should’ve known at least two things about birds such as they need a large cage, more than just seeds, different types of perches, toys, and love. The owner did the exact opposite of what elle said. But i do hope that this is a troll
I feel like people who buy small cages for birds just don’t have enough space for a pet, so they think birds would be perfect because most people spread misinformation saying that they can live in really small cages, I also feel like people who know nothing about them don’t really consider them as pets and think they’re dumb, these cages should be banned just like bowls for goldfish (except if it’s for travelling)
Boules De Plumes well I don’t think they should be banned cause I have one budgie he is a boy, blue and white, but pastel version and when we first got him as my birthday present I had to get a small cage to start off with, then we moved up to a bigger one and he is perfectly fine :D. My opinion
Boules De Plumes he is pastel like do you know those birds that have blue white and black on there back and part of there wings, his is gray and even his beak colour is lighter
Jada hatfield It’s a mutation that causes the color of the budgie to be washed off like 80% of it, there are other mutations like greywing that also cause the color to be washed off but the dilute is the one that makes it more clear.
Yeah,i'm glad you told ppl to get rid of those huts,my friends bird almost died this way,his foot got tangled up and when she came home she heard his terrified screams,he was hanging upside down frantic trying to free himself, she was able to free him and he was ok but it's a GOOD THING she came home in time..She threw the hut into the trash and never got one again. I've heard the fabric can get caught in their crops and cause damage there as well, and the hormone thing. Guys, please listen to her and throw the hut out if you have one, even if your bird loves it. It isn't worth the risk and they aren't even needed, your bird can go to sleep on a perch.
That must be so terrifying to go through! Just looking at the Amazon reviews.. they have taken the lives of so many birds. Thank you for bringing more attention to this!!
The same thing happened to my Quaker. I was playing some Call of Duty and I heard his little wings flapping in the cage, so I got up and freed his foot from it. I’m sure glad it didn’t happen during school.
I recently discovered this channel and personally I love it! I can see the passion and love you put in as you try to give advice to us lovers of our feathered friends! Also thanks to this channel I practice English. I feel very comfortable with your clear voice 'cause I can perfectly understand everything you say. This channel is very useful for me, thank you and sorry if there are some grammatical errors!
I can’t tell if that tiny cage for the cockatiel was serious or not. I almost want to think it was their travel cage and they sent it as a mean joke just to see what you would say. But at the same time I can see someone really not knowing and were legitimately asking for help, maybe it was a child’s pet and they got tasked with taking care of it or something. I mean, I received a budgie from my aunt when I was 5, it’s cage was the same as the hanging budgie cage, she got tasked with caring for it because kids didn’t care, so she saw I liked the bird and gave it to me instead, in that tiny cage. First thing we did was get a giant cage for him, and boy did he love it! Granted you still had to do research at libraries for information because internet wasn’t as big yet, so she gets more of a pass for not knowing/understanding than whoever sent you that picture. At least look up dimensions of a decent sized cage for a bird before buying. Perches/toys are more forgivable if they’re not quite proper your first time around than a cage. It’s also possible they simply saw the bird at a pet store and binge bought it as well as a cage right in the store and it’s only temporary and were looking for recommendations on what to do instead of researching immediately. But again, better to have the proper size cage from the start rather than house it in poor conditions for x amount of time. That cage isn’t even suitable for a single finch.
Dont worry. That happens to a lot of people. Most of the time we jus buy what we can afford at the moment. Later we just can buy a bigger one or just doing it by yourself.
I first came across your channel a few months ago. After watching a few videos I realized how shitty I treated my bird. My grandma would tell me similar stuff to you but would greatly judge 13 year old me. So thank you for educating while still being kind! I still learn every video I watch but am finally happy to say my birds cage checked off every box you mentioned today! Kiwi my cocktail is truely spoiled and runs the house now 😂☺️
Agree how do these people afford vet bills?? My IRN alone his insurance sets me back £30 a month and that doesn't include things like supplements, vet prescribed food, check ups etc.
😭😭 this makes me feel better o want a bird so bad but im watching so many videos and doing lots of research oh hand taming diet cage needs and all that and wont get a bird until i have all of that set uo prior to getting a bird i wanna buy that stuff and find a vet before i get a bird! I also wont get a larger bird than my space can fit!
Not with budgies, I think all living animals (except maybe feeders) should be at least $20 (I mean for a goldfish or something) and a budgie should be maybe $100, it doesn’t matter how easy they are to breed, it’s a living animal
Hello lovely bird lady! My grandmother is unfortunately unable to care for her 2 male cockatiels so my family is going to be taking them soon. This video was very helpful in what to do when we bring the boys home and how to keep them comfortable. Thank you for the tips!
BirdTricks, Marlene Mc Cohen, Flock Talk, and Parrot Playhouse are parrot channels I've heard about. You should check them out. BirdTricks has a video on Household Dangers, such as teflon (non stick) pans and scented candles. Also she recommends the HQ flight cage.
Ive since upgraded to a large flight cage!!! At 9:52 thats my previous one, i love my birds so much and i had been saving up for a while to get them a better cage! Now they have five natural perches tons of toys and still love to fly around my room! (Also got rid of any dowl perches!)They fly right in their cage at night so i have no issues with that lol!
my bird showers with us lol and loves the water and he puts his face in the water! he out of his cage and flys around! he has a room and uses his cage to just sleep or chill on top! but he now is being mean when i make sure he not biting wood behind his wall he goes crazy on us trying to stop him
Saying this out of caution because I've seen a lot of bad bathing on tik tok, If your showering, having the bird perched on the curtain rod or somewhere away from water is fine and bathes them from the steam. Letting them bathe themselves in VERY shallow water is great, too. Some birds like to be sprayed or misted. With running water, please make sure the water pressure going on them is LIGHT. Really should be like droplets, not a steady stream. If your bird is standing still, head up while under constant water flow it is frozen in fear, inhaling water, and struggling to breathe. @stupid.ratgirl on tik tok explains this very well! I'm not saying you do that to your bird or trying to be mean at all, just putting this information out there for people who don't know any better! :)
Hello Ellie, the last cage you reviewed was mine and it was nice that my baby was immortalised in some way. Buddy passed away a few months ago, he was 8 years old. He had two tumors, and due to his age he wouldn't survive a surgery. After his diagnosis we looked after him for two more years, before the tumors got too big and he couldn't fly very far anymore due to the weight. We gave him walks outside the house in our back yard and gave him so much cuddles. We put him down at home where he felt safe and he passed without any pain. 😢 thank you so much and it's nice to come back to this.
I agree. Birds are more expensive pets to keep so If people know they cant afford the large cage a bird is not for them. I couldn't believe it when I saw that cocky's cage!
Another common thing I see is people with sick birds and no vets in their country. I personally think it's incredibly irresponsible to get a pet that no vet in your entire country is qualified to treat.
Wow! I didn’t know budgies could get so sick from eating just seeds :( My budgies grew up eating only seeds, with very little human interaction. My sister and I adopted them but they are so scared of us even though it’s been two years! They have a nice big cage and lots of toys but no shredding paper toys that you mentioned in the video, I’ll look into that! Unfortunately they are easily frightened. We tried giving them pieces of fruit and veggies (blueberry, strawberry, cucumber etc.) but they just hide in the corner of the cage. We noticed they started eating the leaves of a plant beside their cage so we stick lettuce between the bars regularly, however anything else that’s not leaf shaped will scare them and they refuse to try it, rarely they try anything new. So for now it’s only seeds and lettuce :/ I’m hoping for improvement. If we stick out hands in the cage with seeds in our palms eventually they will come, if they’re hungry enough. We’ve gotten them out of the cage twice, the first time they continued to eat their seed but watched everything with wide eyes and the second time they freaked out and one went into the cage and the other had us chase him up the stairs into my room. At this point I don’t have much hope for them, though it’s awful that they stay caged up like that. They eat well, chirp and sing a lot and are very cheerful budgies so health wise I’m not too worried. The fact is they’re terrified of human interaction (they’re fine if we sit by their cage, they sing even louder actually) but if we put our hands in immediately they’re on alert. Thanks for sharing this video, it helped me learn more about things I didn’t know my budgie’s needed. Any suggestions on how to earn a budgies trust is appreciated 🙌🏼
Try giving them chop it’s a bunch of veggies chopped all together in a food processor. It has a similar texture to seed and a lot of birds like it. Give it a try and taming your budgies can take forever. Try taking to them and placing your hand in there cage if you need any more help check out more of Elles videos and this website called wiki how. Don’t give up
Lots of birds often are given away fed on seeds only. What I can suggest is slowly wean them off the seeds, add small amounts of pellets to their seed and slowly lower the amount of seeds over time. It allows them to get used to the change at their pace and eventually they should be off seeds. Same can be with fruits/veggies. It’s a slow process but ensures that a birds diet is healthy and benefits both you and the bird. Adding to the trust part, birds are known to be skittish animals who scare easily, so it’s important to take it slow and be gentle. One tactic I learned was to buy millet and stick it through the cage while you hold it, this will show your bird that you mean no harm. Overtime maybe open it the cage door and offer the millet still at a distance from the bird and your hand. You can slowly make the millet closer to your hand and try to put the millet in your palm to offer treat and let them get your scent and presence. The bird should feel comfortable over time and then you can move on to having the millet just further so they can’t reach, making them climb onto your hand to reach it. This builds trust and teaches how to step up as well. Always have a quiet and calm voice when doing this to show that you mean no harm. If you’ve had them for a while it may take a while, but it’s worth it in the end. I know this comment is late but I hope it helps for the future!
depending how long this series goes on for.. I'll hopefully be able to submit my future setup! I already have a cage in mind, and a few toys in mind.. I'm still working on it though.
I just got 2 boy budgies and already one of them learned to step up! I got a nice big cage with one shredding toy just to start off with. I also gave them a little hideout with a cloth over them so they can chill out in there sometimes, there names are Solar and Eclipse like Solar Eclipse!❤️🥰
Hi, this doesn’t involve anyone here but when I sent one of your videos to my friend she said something along the lines of “ Let me raise my own bird” or something... yay....
I spoil my birds I made them a bamboo pirch and I spent $185 worth of birthday money on them just to buy them a new cage that is at leas 5.5 ft off the ground and about 2 ft wide for just 2 budgies
What if you don’t have your bird yet and you really need lots of help with setting up the cage? 😅I know you probably already did that video, but I would really love to know what size cages and... well, pretty much as much info you could give out. I want a lutino cockatiel but I want him/her to be happy with me😊 I’ve already added many foraging toys and natural perches, but... well yea you probably already know😅Anyways, thank you so much with your videos, they help me so much, and I can’t wait for more!❤️🔥
Where I live, I can’t find any natural wood perches in any pet store so I go and find big sticks and smaller sticks for my ring neck parrot and he loves them!
9:32 my cage 😃 i have since upgraded to a large flight cage 🥳 got rid of the dowl perch and added another natural perch. Just thought it would be nice to give a lil update and I’m planning on doing a video showing it soon! Just gotta get more perches and toys to fill it up a little more lol 😂
4:57 my green cheek absolutely LOVES bird kabobs, watching this with her I love ur vids and my green cheek, skittles loves them too! Keep making vids your awesome!
Things you need before getting a bird - 2 rope perches (utleast) - 2 natural wood perches - 1 platform perch (utleast) - 1 ladder (if you want) - millet - food bowls - water bowls - 4 toys (utleast) - flight cage - nestbox ( if you want a pair in one cage) - 1 nail treaming perch
Shouldn't have a nest box unless you're an educated breeder. It can trigger hormones, which can lead to aggression towards the owner in some cases. Raising babies is incredibly difficult, so I really suggest against trying.
This video is great! I was going to buy a happy hut, but now I know more about them. Also I have wooden perches. 😊 I also make some of my toys! It's less expensive. I have a budgie that is blue named frosty. :) I dont have a hanging cage because I'm always so nervous that it will fall. Just me? Probably. 😂😌
My cockatiel has the same cage as duckies cage :D because sadly school but when I’m at home he’s always out of the cage I’m exited for the school holidays so I can spend more time with him!! U must be exited too
Im buying a cockatiel in less than 2 weeks, your videos are really helping me learn about toys & diet! Bought "great choice" as a seed mix, noticed it had food coloring in it and will be returning for something all natural!
after watching this my birds are definitely spoiled. my lovebird and cockatiel are both in big cages and i make my own toys so they always have lots. i just bought them a cute net thing for when they're outside of the cage but they're terrified!
15:54... I can’t imagine the agony that bird must be going through on a daily basis if they’re still in that cage set up. I hope this is just some twisted joke, otherwise this breaks my heart. I’d be willing to take that bird in if the owners can’t properly care for them.
Same like Cockatiels are so expensive so if you want a bird get a budgie since they are cheaper and you can give them the proper care they need instead of wasting an innocent soul and making them suffering
@@Random-xq4by Bro, that’s not cool. Cockatiels and budgies are normally just 20 dollars difference, in my area anyways, you seem like a impulse buyer, budgies are living things too
@@ParakeetWorld omg exactly. I mean like money wise yeah a budgie is cheaper but if people aren’t even gonna properly care for a bird then they don’t need one. Budgie and any bird is a innocent soul.
I got two budgies over the weekend and I just bought them a flight cage and natural wood perches and platform perches. I did some research beforehand but I’m learning even more. Thank you for these videos ❤️❤️❤️
I'm geting a budgie soon, is there anything specific you would recommend, such as foods, toys, and things like that. I love your videos and your channel has been so helpful and educational.
I understand if you don’t have the money or space for a reasonable bird cage, but if you can’t invest in it, I wouldn’t recommend buying a bird in the first place. The blue cage was too small, especially for a cockatiel. They need room to spread their wings and play with toys if you’re gone. My lovebird has a cage like the one at 14:09 and toys to keep her company when I’m not home. Please do your research before getting a bird for the birds health and safety💕
Like they could have gotten a budgie which is a lot cheaper than cockatiels then she could have gotten a big cage for the budgie. She could have also make toys/ make her own perch or buy them online and she should have done more research because those seeds seem so fattening
@@Random-xq4by for some reason it seems like the blue cage is yours....you keep replying to comments about it and trying to correct them which I mean is reasonable but like the way you say it also makes it sound like you don’t gaf about budgies as well...
Firstly, if you cannot afford a bird, DO. NOT. GET ONE. That is animal abuse. You cannot stuff a larger bird into a small tiny cramped cage. Do better.
simba the hamster pro tip from me, don't ignore the negative stuff about getting one. That's what I did and it ended up shocking me example sound, cleaning, going on vacation. I knew about these but I made them seem smaller than they were. Really look into the bad stuff first :)
@@biancapajo yeah that's what stopped me from getting one a family member has a macaw and I like playing with him but when I realised how expensive time consuming and delicate birds where I figured they wouldn't be a good idea for me at the moment at least
I got a budgie a week ago, I have a small cage and I want my bird to have a big and nice cage but on amazon the cage prices are HIGH! Now, of course I did research for cages. I eventually found a big cage for my parakeet. Love your videos Elle!
I have a cage that is a tad bit too small. I do spend a lot of time with them, and since my mom still works, I usually go with her and the people she works for really trust us so they said they would let me take my baby cockatiel. I stick a few toys on my bird’s travel cage, and I spend a lot of time with her. She is the cutest little cockatiel and right now, she still has sharp talons to keep her stable and now i have scratches on my thumb and shoulder 😂
thank u so much for your videos!! i bought an adorable blue budgie about two weeks ago and the pet store recommended a very small cage, an all seed diet, and told me to clip his wings when they grew out again. i stupidly listened to their advice and my the second day i had him, he seemed very sad. so i did some research and found your wonderful channel! i binged your videos every day until i decided it was time to give my bird a better life. i got him a 40 inch-long flight cage, lots of toys that you recommended, and started transitioning him to a fruit, veggie, and pellet diet. i just wanted to say i appreciate you very very much :))

17:36 Ive had one of those cage hangers and they are very stable and nearly never rocks! Also, love your videos they help alot and without you I might not have given a happy life for my birds ;)
When I saw the second last cage I literally shouted a lil bit and my both budgies were staring at me let's be serious the second last cage was so small just think how moch the cockatiel is facing it can't even fly or play with toys
@@RR-tq4sn it’s not about being “rich” as you put it, but more of providing the most ideal life in captivity a bird can have. This birds are not wild caught, which means they will spend all their lives in captivity and having the most optimal housing is ideal for the bird the thrive.
You’re vids help me so much. I just wanna say ty because my birds were very aggressive when they had a 10 x 17 cage. (WE HAD ALMOST 14 CAGES!) now me and my dad built 30 x 30 cages, now we have less cages, 4 are brothers so we put them in a 30 x 30 cage. 8 are husband and wife. And we put 2 in each 30 x 30 cage. 3 were sisters so we put them in a 30 x 30 cage. (We have 25 birds btw) so ty for helping me out. Love your vids.
That blue cage breaks my heart... I have a travel cage that size and I NEVER keep my birds in it for longer than an hour. I have 4 budgies and one cocktail these cages are amazing :) I don’t have a flight cage but I am saving up my money and buying my birds new toys today! I also have a rope perch, 1 dowel, and 3 wood perches. Currently converting to pellets and they love eating chop 💖
Hi. I’ve had my budgies for almost a year and they aren’t tamed, still. When I was younger and naive and uneducated, I got 3 budgies at the same time (my siblings also wanted a bird, too). Their cage is in the living room, so if they want to get out the cage, they have the ability to fly everywhere around the house, and they have gotten hurt before. Their cage is very big so I cannot fit it in my room. My sibling kept the millet in their cage so it isn’t a treat to them anymore. I don’t know how to take them out without them flying and hurting themselves. I think it’s mainly because the birds depend and trust each other more than they trust me. I tried watching your videos and the mechanism didn’t work. Please help me, I don’t like keeping my birds inside their cage all the time, but at the same time don’t want them to get extremely injured.
Maybe try training with small amounts of sweet fruit, and, if you must, clip their wings just a little on the end of the flight feathers. Hang around their cage, reading or doing homework to try and get them used to you. I wish you the best of luck
Blue Sea thank you so much, and yes, I changed them to a pellet diet a little while ago. I’ve been trying my best, and they’ve already became more comfortable with my presence. I’ve also thought of separating the birds and training them in separate cages, too. Hopefully it works out! And thanks for your tips! *and the millet is not in their cage anymore!*

1st: not really
2nd you can just go outside find a big stick take it and wash it and cut it to size and mount t
You also have to soak in bleach, then water, then bake it, then let it sit out in the sun for a couple of days and make sure that tree is safe for birds and there is also a lot of RUclips videos about that
Check for safe perch woods.
Here’s what I did :chopped guava branch, dried under direct sunlight for a day then use as a perch
They have to be safe types of wood.

He also gets tons of out-of-cage time and he can fly at least half the time
I also made him a massive play stand with perches and things to chew

Super Chickens, same here, my dad and I where given a cockatiel pair when our neighbors moved. They gave them to us in the night and when we got the cage I was horrified. It barely had any flying space and was one of those cages that where thinner but taller with a round top, only one perch and one toy. As soon as the sun rose the next morning my dad and I went to a local pet store and got them a way better cage and toys. They have loved it ever since and loving being on top of the cage where we set up a playground and love to fly around our house.
Yes! You are so amazing for doing that!

Thank you for reading this comment... if you did...
I think she held back a lil on that tiny cage I would wanna cuss that person out lmao
Which one? The one with now toys?
I hate that I listened to one of the pet smart employees that said “oh get two budgies otherwise the other one will live less bc of sadness” I honestly wish I went with my gut to get one so I could have a better bond with them. It’s to the point where I walk next to the cage and they fly to the back immediately. I also hate the method that pet smart used to get them, they walked in the room with a net caught them not very gently and shoved them in a box. I know I shouldn’t have gotten them from pet smart but I was not well educated at the time. I honestly just want my birds to love me as much as I do to them.
Ella Salem :(
@Ella Salem Have you tried separating them?

What metal is it made out of and what's the bar spacing? Can I see a picture?
So,I used Untreated wood and un galvanized.the reason why is because i can just make as much space as i want to,So look galvanized are bad for birds normal wood to.so you have to get untreated wood.
I’m about to do that ina few days
If you find a sturdy one they make great travel cages, which is what I use them for.
What I do is
Get a piece of string
Get an egg carton (make sure it’s not plastic!!), if you don’t eat eggs, ask your neighbour or a friend. I’m sure someone you know eats eggs and has an extra egg carton that they don’t need. Egg cartons are my cockatiel’s favourite thing to chew
Get a paper towel/ toilet paper roll
Get scrap pieces of paper that your are not using...
You can even use paper towel... (my cockatiel doesn’t like to chew on paper towel because she like to hear the crunch when she chews on it)
Next, now that you have gathered materials. You need to assemble!
Take your chewing materials and with the pointy tip of a knife, poke a tiny hole in each one
Then string the materials onto the string... tie a knot and add it to the side of the bird cage!
One last thing,
Please give your birds toys it is very easy... and inexpensive to make toys! Bird don’t care it is in the shape of a heart or a star, if it’s is folded neatly in a the shape a a box! They just want to chew!
There should be no excuse for not providing the proper materials!!!
Also for those of you who are wondering,
I have a normal gray female cockatiel, I’ve had her for 7ish months and her name is Cleo!!
You should make a tutorial video on how to make the toy !!
Thank you so much! I’ve been looking into getting my very first bird and it’s been intimidating. One of my big concerns was constantly replacing toys. I can’t believe I never thought of this! Thank you so much!! (/.w.)/✨
thank you!
Thank you so much for the ideas! I know what I’ll be doing this week instead of homework lol
It’s so nice to see someone doing a video like this solely with the intention of being helpful and educating others and not passing judgement or being unkind. She’s doing a better job at that than any adult pet youtuber that I’ve seen.

LMFOASOJSJS that bird looks miserable
My opinion
Jada hatfield Maybe he’s a dilute that’s why his color is more clear, but I really think they should be banned, even if it’s just to start.
Jada hatfield can’t really tell, I need a photo or a clearer description, does he have grey wings or are his wings normal and his color is just clear?

Not with budgies, I think all living animals (except maybe feeders) should be at least $20 (I mean for a goldfish or something) and a budgie should be maybe $100, it doesn’t matter how easy they are to breed, it’s a living animal

Good luck 😉
i wish you and your birds lots of luck!

Other guy: Uhm are you back from eating dinner?
Ive since upgraded to a large flight cage!!! At 9:52 thats my previous one, i love my birds so much and i had been saving up for a while to get them a better cage! Now they have five natural perches tons of toys and still love to fly around my room! (Also got rid of any dowl perches!)They fly right in their cage at night so i have no issues with that lol!
my bird showers with us lol and loves the water and he puts his face in the water! he out of his cage and flys around! he has a room and uses his cage to just sleep or chill on top! but he now is being mean when i make sure he not biting wood behind his wall he goes crazy on us trying to stop him
Tiffany Howard awww
Do you think you could do a cage cleaning routine video? Lots of support and love from NY! 💕
😢 thank you so much and it's nice to come back to this.
if people can't afford larger cage they shouldn't keep a pet bird 🐦
Tell me what you think in the comment
I stand in agreement
This is true, you should consider all costs with a new pet before getting them :)
you are right
Wow! I didn’t know budgies could get so sick from eating just seeds :(
My budgies grew up eating only seeds, with very little human interaction.
Don’t give up
@@Blue_Oceanic I forgot I wrote this comment. Thanks for the tips!
I’ve watched your videos for months and I’ve always wanted a bird I finally got two baby budgies today and your videos are so helpful tysm!

I really want to have more toys and perches for my budgies but CORONA HAD TO DO THIS TO ME!
Ikr
Maybe try ordering online, plus on online stores there is a lot more selection!
Try looking up how to make your own perches or just get them online
The internet is still up.
They possibly could have meant that right now they arent able to afford them. Corona didnt just close stores
I’m tryna convince my parents to let me buy one and I’ve been watching you non stop to do research thank you so much!
Just make sure they're ready to spend hundreds of dollars on the birds
Hi guys great cages by the way but the small blue one wasn’t that good!!!
depending how long this series goes on for.. I'll hopefully be able to submit my future setup! I already have a cage in mind, and a few toys in mind.. I'm still working on it though.
Awesome, I’d love to see your cage in a future video!
Live Laugh Birds ya I’m getting a love bird in two weeks and I would really want to share the cage in the future
My mother is going to treatment so I have to watch over her budgies and this is so helpful ❤️
Plzz part 2 and I feel bad for the cockatiel in the little blue cage 🥺
I will do a part 2! Same.
That is awesome I’m jealous
Don’t be all you have to do is like mow lawns or I just walked all my neighbors dogs small = $2 medium = $5 large = $8 and I just did that all summer
Who just gets 185 dollars for there birthday wow that spoiled
@@jaidensjungle2309 Lmao, if you're the only child it's kinda cheap but when you have 5-6 siblings you only get a pizza and $10.
What if you don’t have your bird yet and you really need lots of help with setting up the cage? 😅I know you probably already did that video, but I would really love to know what size cages and... well, pretty much as much info you could give out. I want a lutino cockatiel but I want him/her to be happy with me😊 I’ve already added many foraging toys and natural perches, but... well yea you probably already know😅Anyways, thank you so much with your videos, they help me so much, and I can’t wait for more!❤️🔥
I’m so glad my videos help!! I did a video on how to set up a birds cage step by step! It sounds like your doing a great job! ☺️
Congratulations!!! I hope u and your bird are doing good! Have a nice morning/noon/night
Somebody else said that was their cage I’m confused now
4:57 my green cheek absolutely LOVES bird kabobs, watching this with her I love ur vids and my green cheek, skittles loves them too! Keep making vids your awesome!
skittles is such a cute name!
Things you need before getting a bird
- 2 rope perches (utleast)
- 2 natural wood perches
- 1 platform perch (utleast)
- 1 ladder (if you want)
- millet
- food bowls
- water bowls
- 4 toys (utleast)
- flight cage
- nestbox ( if you want a pair in one cage)
- 1 nail treaming perch
@@Random-xq4by ???? You made your comment sound like budgies aren't "innocent souls" just because they're cheap. Please tell me you were joking.
@@Random-xq4by Bro, that’s not cool. Cockatiels and budgies are normally just 20 dollars difference, in my area anyways, you seem like a impulse buyer, budgies are living things too
@Carolyn Fox Budgies are innocent too. Just because they themselves are cheap does not mean their care is too.
She has a ton of videos about that stuff, make sure to go watch them!
Do better.
Dawg you really got Well you know how to write…like I read that soo flipping fast
Looks at small cage *breathing intensis* what i recommend is "in calm voice"
I don't have a bird and wouldn't like one but I'm still interested in learning so thanks for helping me :)
That’s awesome! Thank you for being here!
simba the hamster pro tip from me, don't ignore the negative stuff about getting one.
I’m going to get a bird for my birthday. The cage my dad bought me (selected by me) is not the big as yours. But it isn’t small.
Hey, its been 4 years, How was the birdie? was he cute?
9:33 😃 thats my birds cage, i know fancy top cages aren’t the best and i am planning on upgrading even if it is for night! (You cant see it in the pics but there’s two other Spring looking perches around the room)
Cool! Fancy top cages aren’t the best most of the time but my birds love sliding on the roof😂
That’s awesome that you’re upgrading!!!
17:36 Ive had one of those cage hangers and they are very stable and nearly never rocks! Also, love your videos they help alot and without you I might not have given a happy life for my birds ;)
I love that you give advice for birds and cages.😁
I love ducky he is adorable I love cockatiels. Love your channel.
Thanks so much! Ducky says hi!
OMG I want to cry😂😃❤
When I saw the second last cage I literally shouted a lil bit and my both budgies were staring at me let's be serious the second last cage was so small just think how moch the cockatiel is facing it can't even fly or play with toys
Ikr
Cockatiels love ponytail holders. I tied one to a ribbon, and my cockatiel rlly likes it!
If you can’t afford a good cage for a bird *DONT* *GET* *THE* *BIRD*
@@RR-tq4sn it’s not about being “rich” as you put it, but more of providing the most ideal life in captivity a bird can have. This birds are not wild caught, which means they will spend all their lives in captivity and having the most optimal housing is ideal for the bird the thrive.
Covid Gamer lol he/she deleted the comment
Some cages I saw on the internet are only a few hundred dollars
@Internet_Ghost I will get a bird even though I can't afford a good cage I make my bird happy you are just a spoiled kid
Maaish Plays I really hope you are joking...
Same like I could not survive without these helpful tips
But lol that is a lot of birds
That’s So Carolyn true that is a lot of birds but it is what it is
That blue cage breaks my heart... Currently converting to pellets and they love eating chop 💖
do you think you could help me choose a veggie diet for my birds, what is good for them
I have a video on diet and how to make chop!
Sharon Hwang so have you been able to tame them better now?
