    You're right. Leave the stab in is survival 101, but he was kind of screwed. Staying impaled and galloping away on a horse is going to do a ton of damage. Like I said, screwed either way.

    Gotta take that shard out if you're gonna try and run away. It was a little more of a desperate situation in the game as he was laying on a piece of rebar and had to get up to help Ellie escape. Side note, not only is the song at the end a cover of the ending song from ep 1, but it's also sung by the daughter of co-writer/director Craig Mazen!

    • @LIPPSMACKER
      @LIPPSMACKER  Год назад +1

      yeah, I've had a few people say he had to take it out to get on the horse. Which makes sense. ok the song fun fact!!!! I love the rendition so much and that is so special. she's a beautiful singer. I need a full cover

  • @8301TheJMan
    @8301TheJMan Год назад

    If he wasn't planning on moving, then yeah - he shoulda just left that shard in him. But the problem was that he needed to get on the horse and then ride away. Leaving a sharp piece of wood stuck in you like that with all that jostling around would cause even more damage by leaving it in. This is why in this case, it actually makes complete sense that he'd just rip the shard out

      @@LIPPSMACKER I mean, in reality in the heat of the moment - he most likely wasn't thinking all that cogently about it, (maybe he was, who knows). I think he hoise had more to do with the fact that the pain that that shard would cause him would be so great that it would've prevented him from being able to get on the horse if he had left it in him. Normally though, you'd be completely correct, and seeing as how films and shows have been since forever - having characters removing object that they've been impaled with for no effin reason, so there is certainly a decent chance that this was just one of those examples. I was just trying to come up with a legit "in universe" justification for him doing it lol.
      Great reactions to this show BTW! I'd love to see you react to more shows. Especially "The Expanse," which is hands down the best sci-fi series ever made, (and it just finished up last year with it's 6th season). Alot of people call it the "Game of Thrones" of sci-fi, which isn't a perfect descriptor for what to expect, but it is very similar in that it's an adult-oriented, sometimes dark, with multiple story-libes, and multiple factions with the accompanying political machinations and plotting. It's set a couple hundred years in the future and is easily the most "hard - sci-fi" series or film ever made, and is extremely believable. It's also based on an amazing book series too, once again - similar to GOT. Anyways, sorry for yammering, but if you haven't seen the show and are interested in sci-fi as a genre, you really should check it out..

    It's funny how they ended episode 1 and 6 with the same song, just a different rendition. Whereas 1 meant danger because of 80s but the poppy beat also meant adventure, in 6 it's death and the possible end to that journey.

    9:32 Did Tommy ask to be “rescued”? Then whatever happened to Joel wasn’t Tommy’s fault, was it? 25:07 It’s wild how quickly reactors dump on Tommy. And Maria. As soon as y’all look at them. And blow off Ellie stealing food from people who already fed them. Sure, Jan.

    Running with guns isn't the problem. It's finger training. Which I LOVE that someone took the time to actually train the actors on proper gun handling. You can see in the shot that Ellie has her finger on the slide NOT on the trigger.
    It's one of the fundamental safety steps that always gets forgotten or overlook in Film and TV.
    1. gun is always loaded until you personally check it. 2. Never point it at anything you don't intend to shoot 3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
    There's more, but those are the basic 3 ESSENTIAL ones that everyone should follow.
    TLDR: it's ok to run with guns.

    Why was Tommy a backstaber?
    I don't see that at all.
    Because he didn't get in touch with Joel? It has been clearly stated here that radio contact with the outside world is prohibited in order to protect this community. He has adhered to this rule. These are the conditions to live there.

    • @LIPPSMACKER
      @LIPPSMACKER  Год назад

      ahhh, but rules don't immediately take away hurt. And at what point will Tommy be his own person and stand for his own compass? Joel is his brother, and it's absolutely ok for tommy to have followed the rules of Jackson while it's also ok for Joel to be hurt that Tommy disappeared. Joel and Tommy also had a set of rules... and the rules were communication. Of which Tommy failed to see through.

    • @TomTomson81
      @TomTomson81 Год назад +1

      @@LIPPSMACKER Tommy just wasn't able to contact Joel. These are the rules in order not to endanger 300 lives, including children, for his brother. Furthermore, it has been clear since episode 4 why Tommy left Joel and it was not as Joel explained it to Ellie. Tommy can't help it if his brother constantly imagines he has to save him.
      That doesn't make Tommy a backstaber. This makes him a responsible person who is loyal to his community and does not simply break rules and endanger people.
      And as soon as Joel arrived, he warmly welcomed him and stayed that way. In contrast to Joel, who met him with jealousy and incomprehension. Of course, understandable from his point of view. Just as understandable as Tommy's.

I tease her about her looks (think taller Karen Gilliam)..."a Celtic woman with red hair? Unoriginal lol 😂. Also a few jokes about Buddica with a 📱 phone (worth looking up that queen online. @@LIPPSMACKER lol. Thanks.......don't think 🤔 people have to worry. The monsters are on the way. They always are.
      "From the shadows of the black rocks - that hang from the mountains.
      From under the moors in the high lonely places, where the snow remains stubborn till late in the year.
      They linger.
      Those who should not still be.
      Those who should have gone away. Into the west long age.
      Those who should have faded and failed long ago.
      But they yet linger
      Bitter are they.
      They ran away. From the fathers of our fathers fathers.
      Ran from good iron swords raised high for honest strokes.
      Ran from the men who told Alexander when he asked them that they feared only the sky would fall.
      But.
      Those men are gone. Down into memory.
      And this day is against us. Every day is against us.
      In the places where the Germans and Slavs now live the soul has faded. Because no-one remembers their true names.
      But.
      Still we stand. We are ever watchful of the monsters. Never call them the Saxon name "the fairy-tale lie.
      Flint knives may be old....but they can still cut.
      The bonny babies can still be stolen at twilight.

    Damn, your morals and priorities are all over the place. You're logical sometimes when things are simple but as soon as it gets emotional you just play for your team, just like people with politics. If you don't help my "team" without a second thought then you are a bad person, and nobody but my "team" is good or trustworthy. Makes your reaction hard to watch as a fan of the game and the show.

      As a fan of the game and show, is WHY my loyalty to Joel and Ellie is so high. I've spent a lot of time with them. And they don't let us have anyone else in this show long enough to get attached to. It's ok to feel differently Kernel... if everyone's reactions were the same then life would be really boring. If my reactions aren't for you, that's ok. But it's a show! And it's ok to have an emotional reaction... if I was taking time to react logically to the show my thoughts would be COMPLETELY different. But i'm reacting in the moment and with my heart.
