Processing vocals starts with RECORDING good vocals. Once you record as best as you possibly can, then you can utilize my 4 step process to getting incredible sounding vocals in ANY DAW. I hope this video helps you process your vocals in a professional sounding way; it would have been SUPER helpful for me back in the day.
Thanks so much for watching, I genuinely appreciate you.
Cheers - Видеоклипы
First time I've understood why Reverb is better on a separate bus channel rather then with the rest of the effect thanks!
this will put people 1 year ahead
This is the first time I've found a vocal mixing video that breaks down and explains everything so well! Thank you SO much for this!!!
I'm so glad!
bruh, I’ve watched 10 hours of your videos and all of a sudden my music sound so professional
I haven't even watched this yet but I wanna say THANK YOU such for these mixing types of videos, they are exactly what I'm looking for! I loved your other one you put out 🎉🎉
This is the only video I’ve ever found that explains it so well. The other ones are so confusing but you broke it down perfectly. And it’s extremely difficult for me to understand intricate things like this so that says a lot. Thank you!!
This video looks awesome. Thank you so much! This is one of the first videos where i can watch fully and not get bombarded with complications.
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm coming back to Ableton/recording music after 10 years and I so wish I had had your videos back then! It has made jumping back in so much easier and you have inspired me to get back to making music - not excuses! Seriously, thanks a million.
brooo next level - thank you. - i just did this to my track and the vocals now are so clear. definitely a great formula🔥
Great tutorial. Very simple without overprocesssing and keeping the vocal original. The key take away I noticed is that the raw vocal take sounds amazing, and that is really the most important part. Also, I prefered the sound of the stock plugins more than the third party ones.
Very helpful thank you! I love the way you explain/the fast pace
dude SUCH GOOD TIMING FOR RELEASING TYSM SO BLESSED
thank you so much i’ve been mixing and producing for 3 years now but really never did vocals and always over complicated them with too much compression and really aggressive eq so this helped a lot
Wow, I've been struggling so long trying to make voices louder on my mix and this video was so demystifying and powerful... Thank you so much, really! ❤
Glad it was helpful!
I love your channel, the educational content is great! Keep on going, please don't stop!
Good looking out man. Not too many would be willing to be this transparent regarding their actual process your really helpful my guy. More blessings to you and yours!
thank you!
God level explaination, I have been using FL Studio from the last 5 6 years on and off and i just switched to ableton yesterday. Life changing video brother keep it up !
Great video thanks! Learned a lot, gonna try and do it on my vocals now!!
Bro God bless you for being so generous and transparent with your knowledge that i know you have worked hard to accumulate. You got my sub and respect.
thank you!
This really shows the importance of understanding the concepts before just assuming you have to use the paid plugins. Great video Ethan!
Out of every tutorial I watched and in a full month. Yours made it extremely simple. Thank you!
Great video, very helpful! I really appreciate the tips.
This is the best vocal mixing video on youtube I have seen. You helped me tremendously and made my tracks sound so much better I do not even know how to thank you enough. I will stay tuned for more content you upload. Thank you! Subscribed, liked and commented hopefully others will come across this video too.

Thank you. I'm a teen who's expected to mix live for church and I recently got into Ableton and this video was great. My church is thinking about using a DAW and I really needed this. Thanks
happy to help (:
Thank you! That is really helpful 👏
im very thankfulfor your service, i hope get fairly rewarded for it.
🤘 So happy to see the account grow. I‘ve been around since the 2k‘s and have to say the way how you’re transmitting information is gold!
One thing I‘ve been struggling with is song arrangement and how to pick the right sounds/instruments. Would love to see your thoughts on that in a structured video.
Thanks for what you’re doing and keep up the good work!! 🫶
that's a great idea and I'll keep it in mind. thanks for the prolonged support!
Very good!
Thank you so much. Great Video! :)
Love the Radiohead inspired song. “No Surprises” great video!
Thank you! Best explanation ever! I’m using another version of Ableton, so filters don’t match exactly yours but I got the gist of it and applied it to my current song and it is sounding much much better than it did before. Also, I’m launching my it tomorrow so please do feel happy to have contributed as a mentor for me 😂🎉 TY!
So good! 👏🏻

they definitely can! you've got a great voice so it should be easy for you to process :D
Thank you again!
You’re a great teacher! I’m not ready yet, but I totally want to do your course when my Ableton Live skills are a bit better. I watched the preview vid and I’m totally sold on it, and on you.
*I’m trying (again) to learn ableton live so I can stop making crappy mash ups with a version of Adobe Audition from 2004, and start making my own music (& remixes)
So I’m making a new song every other day (with Live) and I am up to song 16… *to learn the various features and functions.
Your content motivates me and it’s a fun way to learn.
** Socialize has become my anthem! ❤
wow it sounds like you're KILLING it! Keep it up!!
you are amazing!!!
Thank ya!!
Thanks a lot 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
thanks for this tutorial Ethan, learnt a lot from it, can you do a tutorial on how to record vocals over a beat and process it?
Man, thank you for the video. Subscribe for sure ❤
Pretty great explanation. So, my laziness to go over the ssss and tttts and such one by one is something that I should actually do. On a hip-hop song it's like week of work 😂 but I gotta say it works. There are certain compressions that compress treble, middles and bass separately. But then, it's not as great thought. Thank you for this video. It's simply to follow with others softwares in mind 😎
thank you
Liked and subscribed. After hours of hair pulling out and stress, i actually figured out how to get good vocals using stock plugins on my own, and I used the almost the same exact plugins you used in this video. so its good to know i was on the right track, but i was only 90% there. watching your video was the last 10% i needed to get there. thank you. the problem when i followed your advice word for word however was that my vocals had too much low end in them, so i had to make a few tweaks. instead of dragging EQ Eight, click the drop arrow next to EQ Eight and youll see a bunch of EQ options like "Vocal", "Instrumental", etc. click the drop arrow next to vocal and drag the one called vocal presence instead, and then follow the same instructions in your video. i find myself needing to drag the low end controls (the little bubble with the number 1 in it) all the way up to 125-150 htz rather than just 100. when you drag the vocal control compressor plugin, turn down the mid a little bit. or, in the vocal presence plugin, take your low mid controls (the bubble with number 2 in it) and turn it down. whichever way you choose to go, just make sure you arent turning it down too much, -1 to -5 db should do the trick. everybody talks about how when mixing vocals the general rule of thumb is to cut out the low frequencies and boost the highs a little bit, but not enough about how turning down the mids ever so slightly removes a bit of mud that allows your vocals to blend in with everything else smoothly. lastly, when you drag utility make sure you turn the width to 400% and do that for everything, vocals, instruments, just not the master though. this helps your tracks sound stereo instead of mono, the only exceptions being the master and electric guitars recorded through audio interface, for some reason it makes them sound quieter and makes them get lost in the mix, so you wanna go the opposite way and turn the width down to 0% and make them mono, that will actually help them stand out more. these are just little tips that work for me personally i felt like sharing in case someone else had the same issues i did, but thank you for teaching me so much from your video, i did learn a handful of things i needed to know.
Thanks for those suggestions! It's important to figure out what sounds good to you. I think generally, a lead vocal is mono, and then backing vocals are panned left and right and those create the stereo effect for vocals. I can't vouch for the 400% on utility on a lead vocal because almost all my listening and learning experience in the world of vocal production has said to put the lead vocal right in the middle, and let the backing vocals create the stereo stuff. But I'm sure it sounds cool on certain sounds, and there are no 100% rules. There are also so many variations in mics and interfaces I'm not surprised you had to make some EQ tweaks. Good job digging deep and finding what sounds best to you!
Damn came to your channel after 2 years damn you've gained a lot of subscribers.🔥🔥❤️
yeah i started taking things more seriously about a year ago and it has grown a lot!
Nice explanation🎉
Hi Ethan, I appreciate all your super informative videos which helped me significantly :-) I hope one day I get to collaborate with you! wait for me 😎 btw, I'm in love with the song!
Hey Ethan. I’m not gonna lie. Out those 4,000 plays a day from carried I probably played the song no less than 200 times a day. That song genuinely brought me to my knees in worship for God. Your lyrics on there are insane. I couldn’t do anything but just worship God because of your line saying that you’d die the moment you look into His eyes and even the comparison was insane on how you’d melt like the frost in the sunrise. I imagined it. Then I genuinely took into perspective what God said to Moses in the burning bush about Man dying if they were to look upon Gods face. I genuinely probably had more than 200 plays a day now that I look back. I pick up my 8 year old little brother from school everyday and he tells me to play the song and we sing together carried in the car.
awe that's so sweet! so glad God's been speaking to you through it. Thanks so much for sharing this with me!
Your song has a huge Damien Rice vibe! Cheers.
The goat
Tnx for help Sir
he got me to subscribe the first 30 seconds crazy
Thanks
that song is literally No Surprises
yup
It sounds like a copy-paste 💀
I was thinking the same thing
Maybe similar sounding, but if you listen to them both back to back. You can hear the pattern differences in the guitar strums
@@Sasuil wow, so much difference
I just made my first song in less than 3 days !!! This is the best content for professional sounding music. You really helped me take my creativity to an entire different level. Thank you so much! definitely worth the sub!!!! : ) youll be hearing my song soon
wow i love to hear that, keep up the good work!!
