An equally impressive IMAX theatre is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada inside TELUS World of Science (Science World). It is Canada's largest IMAX dome screen (OMNIMAX) at 28 meters tall. While smaller than this screen, it is definetley more immersive as it is a giant dome with 180 degree, 15/70 IMAX film projection as well as an equally impressive sound system!
I live near the normal crappy LieMax in the US, but I think even these LieMax have something special, the IMAX speakers. They are designed so that no matter where you sit, you will get the full sound experience, something have to do with position tracking audio. It seems like this theater combined Dolby and IMAX into one, here in the US, most of the movie theaters have their own Dolby Theaters with Dolby Atmos, and the gimmick is that the seats can be inclined back, and there are transducers in the seats that makes you feel that the seat is shaking, and also better color contrast with the projector. Based on what you said in the video, seems like the seats will be shaking with the bass while the audience is watching the biggest IMAX screen in the world. I do wish this is what they do with all the theaters, I see no difference between the color contrast of a LieMax/IMAX and the Dolby Theaters, so why not just combine them.
Nice video! I'm personally missing some important IMAX information you haven't mentioned - what projectors are used (I believe it's Dual IMAX Laser), HFR, what type of 3D glasses are used, some comments about picture quality compared to other IMAX venues, aspect ration of the screen and therefore what formats can we anticipate (1.90, 1.85 for Avatar). What about 1.43:1 screenings - at this screen size, the 1.43 AR would be pretty much comparable to other venues such as BFI or Prague, but I believe they'll screen 1.90 versions only? Thanks for more details.
@@boredtech Although the screen is 1,9:1 , the system can also project other aspect ratios, including 1,43:1. What aspect ratio you get, depends on what the studio delivers.
Definitely would love to visit this IMAX screen one day. I can’t tell if its full IMAX ratio or if it’s just full screen tho. Even if it is, watching the biggest screen in the world on a huge and bright screen would be a sight to behold.
@@felixlutticken5694 the screen is actually higher than even the 1.43:1 screen at BFI. It's just ALSO wider (1.90:1). But it totally can project 1:43:1 if they want to.
I watched Oppenheimer there. Soon we'll watch Dune Part 2, and all I can say is that I'm excited!! Being there is an experience, rather than just watching. Plus all the things it offers to you extra is crazy good. I'm lucky to live in southern Germany for that 😀
The worst part about the cinema is that they usually show just a few original version projections of movies and at terrible times (23:15 or something??) but I like visiting for any major movies that come out. We're watching Oppenheimer next Tuesday there with my gf
of course I want to see a film on the largest imax screen in the world, who wouldn't want that? I will probably go for a week in March next year. from Maastricht, which is located in the Netherlands. making it easy to get to Leonberg by bus and train
Been there earlier in the year and watched Avatar as well. Even though we sat slightly to far near the front (2-3 rows behind us would have been perfect) It's probably the best movie theater I've ever been in, planning to watch something like Dune Part 2 in there next. Sydney used to be the biggest but they've been renovating since 2016. Not sure when that's going to be ready but maybe their screen will be even bigger than before
@@jjperceval leonberg isn't even true imax. There's an imax in St Louis Missouri that's overall bigger than this leonberg imax but idk why this one is considered the largest
@@mohammedfaiisalIt is the largest, if you calculate it as follows : total screen area = width (124 ft) x height (68 ft) = 840 square meters (9041 square feet). Other IMAX locations may have a taller screen, but the total image area will be smaller. The one in St. Louis is also Omnimax, and therefore doesn’t really count as a “standard” IMAX screen.
Sydney IMAX The new and improved theatre will be housed at The Ribbon in Darling Harbour with a number of exciting features. Expect a 693-square-metre screen that will deliver crystal-clear, life-like images and precision audio, 430 luxury seats and a 12-channel sound system. Plus an advanced 4K laster projection system with a new optical engine and custom-designed lenses for brighter images, increased resolution and deeper contrast. The new cinema is set to rival others around the world including those from New York, Cannes, and Tokyo.

This cinema looks amazing! I like how each screen has its own unique design, I think more cinemas should do that.
Indeed, the concept is great!
Oh yes. I didn’t mention screen aspect ratio. It is 1.90 to 1. Rest of the details are in the video.
@@boredtech Although the screen is 1,9:1 , the system can also project other aspect ratios, including 1,43:1. What aspect ratio you get, depends on what the studio delivers.
@@jeffreybankers3988 sounds about right from personal experience at Traumpalast.
Ok, now I need to go watch a movie here. Driving there from Hungary is going to take a bit of time :D
Do it if you have a chance!
i live an half an hour far from leonberg and didnt no that . thanks for that
Whenever i travel to Germany, i will try my best to watch a movie here. From India.
Wow, that's a long way.
The ticket price to watch here will be 50 thousand dollars lol😂🤣
Its like 17€ so less than normal price i think
Fun fact:
Traumpalast IMAX Screen is much bigger than all of 70mm IMAX screens
Indeed it’s huge. I wonder, would it be a limit for projection screen.
Great videos mate.
Glad you like them! Thanks!
I'm lucky to live in southern Germany for that 😀
"I want to visit the largesst Imax In the world!" Sydney, Australia
Awesome to see, looking forward to Sydney reopening in a few months.
A blast!
The worst part about the cinema is that they usually show just a few original version projections of movies and at terrible times (23:15 or something??) but I like visiting for any major movies that come out. We're watching Oppenheimer next Tuesday there with my gf
Great review, as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you
You're most welcome!
Really awesome video, earned a sub!!
Thanks for subbing!
I want to visit the largest IMAX in the world!
Spain, Barcelona
IMAX FOREVER!
Thank you for your entry!
Great video! Thanks for the info, very interesting.
You are most welcome!
of course I want to see a film on the largest imax screen in the world, who wouldn't want that? I will probably go for a week in March next year. from Maastricht, which is located in the Netherlands. making it easy to get to Leonberg by bus and train
I love to watch movies in good theaters and one time I watch a movie here also
I'm sure you will!
The Uni in Stuttgart would be a nice place to visit...they have a museum there with the only known working LGP-30 computer.
Wow ... looks very impressive! Look forward to more of your videos --- you really seem to know your stuff!
Thank you so much! More videos on the way!
Going there next week to see Oppenheimer :D
i want to visit the largest IMAX in the world, Argentina, Necochea.
wow that cinema is wild
Been there earlier in the year and watched Avatar as well. Even though we sat slightly to far near the front (2-3 rows behind us would have been perfect) It's probably the best movie theater I've ever been in, planning to watch something like Dune Part 2 in there next. Luckily, my family lives about 45 minutes from there!
Wow I didn't even know until your video that we have such a cinema there 🤭😁
I’m glad my video helped you find this movie theatre.
Wow i just started watching some IMAX movies this year and never would have though IMAX could be even bigger than mine in Malaysia
I want to visit the largest IMAX in the world.
Croatia, Zagreb
Nice coverage of the cinema btw.
Thanks a lot!
Just found your channel today. Great content.
Welcome aboard!
@@boredtech getting properly stuck in. I’m a massive cinema fan. I run a Datasat rs20i and amps at home. With b&w diamond 7.4.4 setup. Sound is my main interest.
Is oppenheimer on?
Oppenheimer will be a bliss in this theatre 🔥
I want to visit the largest IMAX in the world - India, Pune
This is more of pledge. thanks for putting up this video :)
My pleasure 😊 Thank you for watching!
This title belonged to the IMAX 4D Cinema in Riccione (Oltremare park), it was dismantled right before the 70mm film format made its comeback and so we lost a one of a kind IMAX cinema forever...
IMAX Riccione, an italian sad story.
I would LOVE to visit the largest Imax cinema in the world. I'm Scottish but live in Strasbourg.
Thank you for your entry!
Sydney used to be the biggest but they've been renovating since 2016. Not sure when that's going to be ready but maybe their screen will be even bigger than before
it wont. itll be the 3rd largest, so smaller than melbourne
Good lord......
Alright, I'm definitely going there someday lol.
You should!
@@boredtech I wanted to ask, they have digital IMAX over there at Traumpalast right? It's not IMAX 70MM??
Sydney IMAX
The new and improved theatre will be housed at The Ribbon in Darling Harbour with a number of exciting features.
I am German and I never heard of it.🙃 Thank you for sharing!
I live 40mins from this and just discovered it some days ago
That is crazy! we just have stains and candy wrappers in our cinemas none of that fancy lighting and décor
I want to visit the largest IMAX in the world, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
Although here in Malaysia only come with Xenon Digital IMAX and also one cinema with IMAX Laser 3rd gen but I believe the price of the ticket is no other country that can compete. The most expensive ticket they sold were 8.2 or 8.3 euro, it was the avatar way of water in IMAX 3D
That's a great price, here in London I pay £20-£25 for the ticket.
Well documented!
Thanks a lot! It's important to say thanks to Science Museum, this video wouldn't be possible without them.
