I think youre the first to give such a detailed video on how to grow then from seeds... Ive read about this before and decided not to even try .. you make it seem so easy that now im actually willing to try. Thanks alot really ..
I like it so much i will follow it
Hi! I've been watching several of your videos over the last month or two. I'm that new to the world of succulents. I'm not a gardener, but I've always like to have living plants around my house. What I want to say is throughout your presentations describing your methods, I like how you make a lot of simple yet practical recommendations on techniques that get the job done and are very resourceful to this beginner. Without a lot of rambling or meandering, you explain concisely why you follow your practices which makes the ideas stick a lot better. So many folks on RUclips (not all of course) meander and go on tangents while I'm thinking "please hurry up and get to the point." Some fluff is ok of course. So I regard your content as very high quality and appreciate the time you take to share your ideas. I know it's a lot of work. I have subscribed to your channel and your mailing list. Best regards, Mike.
What is your soil mixture ratios please and Thank you
Did you get a reply? I’m interested too.
@@trishaokimoto7336 nope no reply
I'm just getting ready to start a ton of seeds I saved over the yrs. Fingers crossed I have success. I've never grown them from seed before. Should be an interesting experiment. Thanks so much for sharing!
I have a bag of playground sand will it work
You just need to make sure it isn’t treated for plants to not grow. A lot of times play sand is treated, just check your bag
I've just decided to try to grow from seed so I'm just so glad I found your videos.
Hi, when I should remove the cover of seed germination? thanks
Very helpful thanks🤍💚
The tiny baby platelets are adorable 🪴
Thank you so much, you just saved me money. I had just placed an order on amazon for seeds and when I saw your opening statements about scams I went back and checked the reviews...order has been now cancelled...thanks again , looking forward to the rest of your video 😃
Thanks so much for the detailed video. I followed your advice and I've successfully started to see some babies. 👍👍👍❤️
Amazing video!! Thanks, this was very helpful. Kind regards from The Netherlands.
AHHH IM FIRST I LOVE YOUR VIDS SOOO MUCH IM EXCITED FOR THESE NEW SEEDLINGS 🌱 😘❤️❤️
Thanks!!!! I've been looking for the 1/8 inch fine pumice. Until now, I can only find it in the big 1/4 inch hulking chucks. Thank you for the tip!!!!!!
Nice video, I have never tried growing succulent from seed, but thanks to you , I will.
I just stumbled upon your channel and I appreciate the tips!
Hello, when are u going to do a part3 ????
Love the detailed instructions! But I don’t think I caught how often do I need to water them?
yes. same here. do you keep putting water in the tray so the sand is always wet?
Brilliant!!
Now I have a reasonable way of controlling the environment of growing from seed. This was so helpful-thank you
What is that gorgeous tall plant behind you? Very informative video.
Oh wow, I really have been waiting for this series. Awesome work and can’t wait for the next video. Thanks so much for making this series, so few videos are actually about this subject and even fewer actually show the results.
I just stuck my dirt mix in the oven and my roommate is losing his mind about me sticking dirt in the oven...

Wonderful video Angel. I’m waiting on seed to arrive from Sweden and UK. Your video is very comprehensive and answers a lot of my questions Thankyou and I look forward to the next update. Cheers and stay safe from NSW Australia 🇦🇺
Great video! Thank you! I’m curious, could I use perlite instead of pumice?
Yes I believe that would be fine
Subbed because you up cycled your spinach container good stuff thanks for the content
I’m growing some little cacti from seeds! Seems to be taking ages!
Yes they require lots of patience 😂
I'd love to see a photo of your hedgehog cactus that you started from seed.
came for the plant info, stayed for the asmr
I just want to thank you for your video I followed it step by step I also ordered from WallaWallastudios on etsy for my seeds and 8 days later I already have five of them sprouting ❤️🌹 I watch all your videos they have helped me so much! Thank you!
Exactly where I ordered from. After watching this I feel more confident to start my mountain rose seeds!
How often do you water them? I just placed my seeds🙂
This was really helpful. I bought some seeds today without realizing how difficult they would be so I was really overwhelmed before seeing this. One thing I'm having a hard time finding info on is how often they should be watered in the early stages and how much time they should be spending under the lights per day. Are you able to give some input on that?
Good luck! I keep mine under lights for 8 hours a day and water once a week. I have a part 2 and 3 up too that might be helpful too
Great tutorial babe. So excited to watch these seed babies grow up!
When do u remove the lids permanently?
Wonderful garden
Hi is me again I have my seed commitment out. For how long I have to keep it with lids
Whats the ratio of soi, pumice ans sand u use? Roughly...
love this, thank you
Okay. So how did I find you? Well....
I love chilies and I'm growing sever kinds. I thought it would be beneficial to have a varity of flowers around to lure in insects to help polinate, so I started growing flowers too. I came across a few succulents that looked nice for the house while I was at it, so I got some of those too, but I didn't realize that they can take 2 years to get to that golf-ball-sized bud you showed.
Obviously, I've got more going on than I intended, so my question is this; is there an all-in-one gravel/base that I can get in a smaller amount to get my succulents going and get back to flowers and chilies?
Sorry for the long-winded question. Just wanted you to get a fell for the lack of time with work, kids and getting in over my head with a runaway patio garden.
Great information. Great video.
Hi, can I ask some questions? My apartment is very humid during summer and dry during winter . Will this ratio works too ? And how about the ratio for bigger succulents ? Any suggestions? I am new 😢 my soils from miracle gro keep growing white mold even I put some perlite mix 1:1
Do you know if fluorescent or LED lights are better to get the stressed colors? thanks
I don’t know which would be stronger but I think the stress level comes down more to time of light and closeness. The closer the light is to the plant and the longer amount of time it is on, is when you will probably see more stressed succulents. I recommend a white light regardless though in comparison to the pure because you can actually enjoy the beautiful colors whereas the purple grow lights don’t really showoff the color of the plant. Hope that helps! Also, my grow lights are LeD
is there any soil we can buy without having to heat it and that already prepped like will all the ones you mixed??
so excited to see this series! i'm currently growing some succulents from seeds and only some have survived, so i'm happy to learn as much as i can
(i actually found you from researching how to grow from seed :)
Same way I found this!
I loooooved this video. So perfect and just what i needed. I looked up grow lights and… is it just the same thing as purple LED light?
So we bake the soil and stuff ??
How many days it takes to germinate . Succulent seeds
Nice job
I’m really new into succulents. I got cactus soil. It is this kind of soul good to grow succulents from seeds? Thanks
What is the zone and location. Is it warm or winter? Cause I live in Calgary and do I need a seedling mat or just grow light works?
I am in a zone 5. I grow all my succulents indoors under grow lights. If your house is warm then no mat needed but if it is chillier, the seeds would probably love a heating mat
While waiting for seeds to germinate do you keep them under the light with the lid closed or open ?
How often do you spray the babies with water? Sorry if you answered this I'm cooking and watching your awesome video!
I just bottom water through the holes in the container when the sand starts to look dry. For me this was about once a week or every other week
HELP! I have aphids on my little seedlings (theyre still very small, 2-4 leaves). Any recommendations to what I can do?
Oh no. You can try spraying them with soap and water combo and then don’t let them sit in direct sunlight.
This was very helpful.
I just ordered seeds we will see how it all works out.
Can I use drainage soil for succulents?
You missed to tell us the soil mixture formula!!! how many part sand, how many part coir so on and so forth...please list the mixture ratio..thanks
Will silica sand work?
I’ve used silica sand and it worked great. I actually like it better than paver sand due to the uniformity of the pieces.
Hi what soil I can to grow the succulent seed do I need to wet the soil and cover it? For how long to grow? Thank you god bless you 🙏😀
Great video. Keep up the good work.
What sand did you use?
What where the measurements of the soil media ?
How to water them?
hey! Instead of using the seeds on soil, I tried to put them on cotton first, with the plastic covering it. Do you recommend doing this? thank you!
I did the same🤷♀️ We shall see, time will show
Hi there I’m curious to know if the method worked. TIA.
@@jaycee6558 hi it didn't work for me. Only 1 seed germinated out of 50
Can the seeds pass Australia's custom?
Hi, How long did it take for your seeds to germinate? Thanks
Depends on the type of seed. I found it can be as fast as 2 weeks or as slow as a couple of months
Tip for people trying to "sterilize" their soil: you can get a turkey roasting bag and boil the bags of your mixed up soil.
A meat thermometer would help, but not necessary since it doesnt have to be perfect. Im not positive about sterilizing the soil, if thats necessary or even good, but you can for sure pasteurize it as a base measure. I've never cared to for seeds, since if they die from any old dirt then they werent strong enough anyway, but im about to foray into rare cacti and succulent seed growing so i planned on boiling a huge bag of soil in one of those stock pots
When is it okay to uncover the pot?
Question After you water the first time do you water them afterwards while you’re waiting for them to Germany?
Maybe I missed it, did she say how long hers took to germinate?
how long did it take for your seeds to come?
I was wondering how long are u keeping the lid on it? I'm also.growing succulents from seeds..they germinate already but not sure when to take the lid completely off
I just found your video. When you do the soil mixture in the cookie sheet to bake, what exactly are you using and how much of each ingredient? Sorry if this is something that I should know.
Just bought seeds. I live in Florida. It’s April. When is the best time to plant/best temperatures for succulent seeds?
Spring is probably best but if you have a grow light, I have been able to get seeds to start anytime of the year
Do you have to put the mix in the oven?
It helps kill off any extra organisms that might cause issues later on
did it take a long time to get your seeds I purchased from replant and I still dont have them in about three weeks
Yes, mine took over a month
Hi! How do we water the plants? Once a day? Or two?
Once a week
Did you keep the containers in a tray of water when you put them under light? Or was that a one time thing at the beginning. Also, how often did you water them from the top?
I don’t keep them in the water but I do water them every now and then to make sure the soil stays wet. I only spray the top that one time.
How often did you place the trays into water?
Once a week.
Thanks. Where did you order the seeds? 🙂
you have it in description :)
Impressive! Your seedings are so precious! Can't wait for the next update!!
Great video thank you. How often do you water and mist? How long are the lights on for?
Water from the bottom once a week, don’t mist, and lights are on for 8 hours
1st to ur channel and i want ur process how to plant cactus/succulents 🥰
I planted some laui seeds. How long took yours to germinate?
I want to say my Lauiis took about 2 weeks. But it all depends on the moisture and heat in your place.
@@AngelsGrove thank you for the answer. My anxiety is killing me 🤣😭
Just started my seeds today. I bought 10 varieties from one vendor and another 9 from another I am still waiting on.
I too got some laui seeds :)
Can I buy sacculent seeds from you ?
What is Merch? Thanks
Oh I have some tshirts that I sell. Here is a link to my Etsy store for them if you are interested www.etsy.com/shop/GroveTeeDesigns
Can you tell me how often you water your seeds and are they in the light 24 hours a day or like 8 hours. Also what color are you using on your grow light. Mine have 3 colors i think they are blue red and white.
White grow light for 8 hours. Watering once a week
Thank you for responding so soon. Thank you again.
I went to the local flea market on Sunday and got 2in succulents for $2 each! I ended up getting 10 😅 but now I’m wondering should I plant from seeds? 🤔 I got a pack of 100 seeds for $5 plus shipping off FB. 😆 but damn it takes soo long 😅
How long do you have your grow light on each day?
8 hours
My seeds haven't sprouted yet but I've been struggling imensly with fungus, I pick it off by I'm concerned that the fungus's recurring growth might prohibit the seeds from growing
Have they sprouted yet?
@@lucasongsucculentz8767 No, 😔
Hello :) A couple questions. I have gnats on my very small, 1 month old seedlings. What can I do to fix this? I heard neem oil is good but I put them under grow lights so I think that will fry them?
Hmm I haven’t experienced that before. I would suggest letting the soil dry completely in between watering. Don’t let them go more than a day or two but I am not sure how else to fix that.
@@AngelsGrove thank you :)
Carla merhaba. Bunun için çok kolay bir çözüm var. Bir parça tarçın koyun saksınızın içine. Hepsi gidecekler.
Hey Jess! So I got a thermometer (I’m learning to grow in my apartment lol), and it says that the seeds have been at about 80 degrees F under the grow light. I moved them under my desk where it’s shaded and cooler, but I’m wondering how crucial it is to keeping the temp between 60-70 F. Like, will my seeds die because they’ve been in the warmer temp?
What’s your success rate? I saw another video that used more soil than perlite and hardly any sand so now I don’t know what to use.
Every time I have used sand I have had really great results. I haven’t counted my seeds before planting, so I don’t actually have a germination rate to give you. But I have tried soil but I felt like I didn’t get as good of results as I do with sand. But I bet both will work
@@AngelsGrove I’m going to trust you completely lol. I just bought some sand for my lauii seeds coming in two weeks. Do you think I could use a microwave instead of the oven?
@@MariaSweets5 😂 I just googled it and it said you can just do it in 2-3 min intervals and stir in between. Send me pictures on Instagram when you grow them!!!
I have never heard or sterilization of the soil before sowing. Never done this with any seeds in the past. Mind you I never tried succulents till now. Mostly veggies and perennials.
@@philipraposo8324 I don’t do this with any other seeds, but given how long you leave the lid on, I have noticed issues when I haven’t done it. Weird concept, but it works!
This makes me think I have way too many seeds lol. Ive been gathering seeds from all sorts of succulents from outside and I have a vial about 1cm diameter filled up to 2cm with fine mixed seeds and about 0.5cm of moonstone seeds in another vial. So I've got hundreds of tiny seeds although some of them weren't in good condition. Now that I've messed around with gathering seeds I gotta figure out how to plant them all.
Hi you said grow from your own seed that you have collected “that you have pollinated” how does one do this? 😳
I just mix in cinnamon powder and turmeric in my seed mix. Eliminates the fungus and bacteria problem. :-)
this was so helpful! Ive tried it a few times but was unsuccessful. One thing you havent touched on was how often you water them? Or you didnt water them at all yet since you sowed them? :)
and when you water them, do you take off the lid and spray or do you bottom water thru the slits?
Haha I know I filmed this answer but it must have been deleted in my editing 😂 lots of people are asking this. I water about once a week from the bottom ( by setting the container in water). I try not to open up the lid unless I really need to so I can keep the humidity high
In nature wouldn't succulent seeds blow around and land somewhere random. This would mean that the sun is likely going to be hitting these seeds and such. The sun is alot stronger than any grow light I have seen. I wouldn't think grow lights can burn the seeds. Just a thought.
Hi Jess can i have 2 succulents from you please because its really hard to find them here in malaysia I just need 1 echeveria Lola cutting and I superbum cutting I really love those 😍😭
🙌🏼
Thank you for providing such a detailed video and links! I was wondering if you had a link for the sand you used?
I don’t because I just purchased mine at Menards or Lowe’s. But it was just a paver sand or play sand, and just make sure it isn’t treated with herbicides.
Thank you!
I learned so much in this video!
How often do you water these?
About once a week if it starts looking dry. I only water if it felt light and started drying
@@AngelsGrove THANK YOU!
Hello 👋
I have a question regarding growing succulents from leaf rather. I accidentally, cut the very tip of the leaf and wonder if anybody here has ever experimented growing succs roots with a damaged leaf, any ideas?
For anyone who sees this later, you aren't going to be able to from a cut leaf. You *could* but it would require tissue culturing which is a science and your average garderner/noob will not be able to.
To propagate succulents from leaves (even aloe vera) you need to have some of the stem tissue intact. That little white nub is where the roots will form from
