You are THE BEST!!! Good grief, bought my Z5 yesterday. You taught me more in a few minutes by showing and talking about what you are doing on the ACTUAL camera that the last two days of trying to figure it out. This is my first new camera in 9 years. I have a very steep learning curve. THANK YOU! Keep making these tutorials!
You are just what I need. Straight to the point. No messing around. This dial does this and that does that. Perfect. I subscribed. You are the best channel on youtube.Awesome.

Great delivery. I was looking for info on Z5 aperature and shutter controls. Just got the Z5 yesterday and looking forward to using it.
Great!! Glad to help. How do u like the z5 so far?
@@Jennifer_nicole Camera is great but my editing software is not. Can't use my LR 6 and trying to fix became a rabbit hole. Returning Z5 until I can get better assistance with the technical side of things.
How's it going just got mine.
Little boy is so cute!
Great video! Question: If I want to set up one of my U buttons for portrait (no flash) presets, what settings do you recommend?
Thank you so much for this video !!! I almost sold my camera 💪💪💪
Thank you so much for letting me know. THIS is why I have this channel ♥️♥️♥️
@@Jennifer_nicole definitely subscribed ... I look forward to more videos from you #AWESOME

Thnx so much
Hello, I have a Nikon Z5 and my aperture doesn't go below F4 I don't know what the problem is, can you help me resolve it, please?
amazing video definitely was helpful! I have a Z5 and i shoot everything with it, weddings, birthdays, graduation events and alot more! I’m quite pleased with the results my camera produces, but this is my first camera and it’s only been 2 months I’m a photographer, i would like to share my photos with you and you give me your opinions on it, i would be more than happy if we could do that :)
With VR in both the lens and the camera, does the rule of having the shutter speed not being less than the reciprocal of the focal length still apply? From what I've read, the VR allows hand-holding at slower shutter speeds than you could normally do. Of course, if you set the shutter speed too slow, there's only so much handshake the VR can compensate for.
I've had my z5 for awhile and still have the kit lens but struggling to get sharp photos like how I learnt on my d3200. Any tips on settings with a kit lens please.
I'm a newbie in photography and find your video very helpful. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Is there aperture ring on lenses like on Fuji?
I have the same camera. Nikon X5, I’m new to photography still! My F value only turns down to a 4 how do you get yours lower? Does the lens affect F value?
Hi Sunmer! Yes, you have to get a lens that will open wider than that. Your f value denotes your aperture.
Hello, I am from Greece and I ve just bought Nikon Z5. I applied enough times for your workbook but I didn't reveive anything. Is there any other way to get it? Thank you in advance
Hey! Maybe try checking your spam email folder. If it’s not there let me know, and I’ll get it to you.
@@Jennifer_nicole Hello again! I checked the spam folders of the emails I tried with and unfortunately did not get it. How we can make it happen?
I just got a Nikon Z5 and I am a total noob. Also, my name is Jennifer and my middle name is Nicole 🤣 there are so many videos talking about the Z5, but your name won me over lol
Also, this was actually super informative and I will probably be watching it a lot during shooting my new spiffy camera ❤️
no solo es equipo son lentes para puedas tener buenos resultados
Does the focus square need to be on the eye?
Yes
I don’t want it on the eye 😅 what does it need to be on for sports or active pics? Sometimes 6/7 squares come up then I press ok and it lets me move where I want to focus. Gahhh. Not loving this camera or maybe it’s me the user 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I tried to get the workbook but I didn't receive it in my mail 😔
Did you check your spam folder?
I just got the Z5 and I want to cry. Why can I not figure out what to do? I just want to use this to take pictures of my kids instead of a phone. I cannot figure this out without the flash. Maybe i bought the wrong lens too (24-70/ 4s)??
Have you tried putting it in auto mode?
Can u share you preset color to me
I believe this was mastin labs presets and “Gold” is the preset. He changed their pack names, so I’m not sure what pack it’s in anymore
I'll never understand the refusal to use auto ISO in manual mode. If you're shooting on a tripod or using a flash, sure... Tinker with the ISO. But the light meter you're referring to does literally the exact same thing in auto ISO, and you can tweek exposure compensation if needed. ISO has literally no creative component, if you can't get the depth of field or motion capture you need, something has to give.
Auto Iso Isn’t reliable. Secondly, you technically shouldn’t take the meter to the middle even though that’s basic instruction, because it takes the part of the photo you’re metering for to mid grey. Anything lighter than mid grey needs to go up a stop or 2 to get the correct exposure. Anything darker than mid grey needs to go a few stops down; otherwise, you’ve effectively overexposed your subject. This is very important for skin. And I would never advise anyone to start Willy Nilly adjusting shutter speed for any important shoot. You could accidentally go too low in the moment like shooting a wedding.
I did say that you can adjust the exposure compensation. I guess if you have a slow subject where you can deliberately take time to tinker with all three settings, sure - But when backgrounds rapidly change or lighting levels aren't reliable I really don't see the benefit in using the extra brainpower to mess with yet another variable. If you're outdoors and the ISO would be reliably low you get at least a two stop push in either direction when shooting RAW.

Not manual if using autofocus🤣
