      I see him as, a kid that his parents wanted him to become a doctor, but used his brain power for jokes. And it is AMAZING. He is doing something HE wanted to do, and the world is so thankful.

It’s more accurate to call China as Socialist rather than Communist, since pure communism only existed in the mind of a few.

In China, most universities have the access to RUclips Facebook even porn hub without any “wall” block, BTW we can build our own VPN if you’re not on campus. Chinese government only block people with no education but want to mess China up to gain some benefits.

    Few people knew about Joe Wong until he did a roast for Joe Biden?? He got that gig because of his national TV debut on David Letterman the year before. After that he became more popular because Ellen Degeneres loved him.

    On behalf of my demographic of the USA...Please feel free to roast Trump. We're not so sure it WAS a democratic election. He is a national embarrassment.     Joe’s comedy in China is not that popular. He kinda lost his magic when he tells jokes in Chinese. Maybe it’s because Chinese people don’t know American humor so he has to change his style. We really love his talk shows in the US. However, his Chinese shows like “is it true” are really boring.

      I think it is because his stand up comedy style really is more related to international affairs and immigrants but those are not really things that can strike a string in Chinese populations.

      Watched some of his shows in China before. Have to say that he really does a better job when telling jokes in English. Most of his Chinese jokes are just not as funny. (In my opinion at least)

      Harnett Jack He loves telling jokes about controversial issues. That can be done in the US. He has a deep understanding of controversial topics such as race ,immigrants,gender and politics.
      But in China, he can’t talk about any of those.

    This is interesting. I still remember how the Chinese public loved Trump when he was just elected. This video was aired in 2019 and he said many Chinese still defended Trump. Now, it is the opposite. Everybody on Chinese social media makes fun of Trump and criticises him. How the Chinese public see Trump actually has little difference to how democrat supporters see Trump nowadays.

    I did not know that there was a joke about the NRA and campus shooting that he did on the Colbert show which was cut out. I can totally see why. It’s too painful to be funny. I mean the shooting of kids on campuses, in elementary schools, there’s just no way to make that funny. I am a huge fan of Joe Wong though.

    The reason for his show not being popular in China is mainly because of the sense of culture of contemporary Chinese. I don’t believe it’s a issue of background. It’s just a matter of time. After a few years when the cultural environment in China undergoes enough development, Chinese would of course understand the core information of his jokes.

    why are there no stand up comedians in china ? pretty sure they can't joke on chinese policies either ...
