  • This is three minute video showing the replacing a fuel filter with Quick Connect Fittings on a 1998 - 2002 Lincoln Navigator / 1998 - 2002 Ford Expedition.
I struggled with the fittings and wanted to show what they look like, and how they disconnect from the fuel filter fittings. I show the inside of what the fitting looks like so you know what to expect.

I have not seen any mileage improvement that I've noticed, but I replace the fuel filter at regular intervals-about every 15k miles.
A story of why I posted the video. -
I once was coming home from a vacation trip, and about 60 miles from home, while on the freeway, the car started to feel extremely sluggish. It wouldn't accelerate or climb small hills, and had almost no power. (We were lucky it hadn't happened hours earlier while on the desolate roads of the Sierra Nevada mountains at the start of the drive. The stress of it would have been far more significant there.)
I barely managed to limp off the freeway to have it checked at a repair shop right off the freeway. It turned out to be a dirty clogged fuel filter. I don't recall the mileage on the filter at the time, but I remember thinking how penny-wise, pound foolish I felt when they figured out the problem. It was way over due to have been changed out. I learned my lesson, maintain the fuel filter. I dodged a big bullet with that experience. I now set a reminder in my car mileage logging app to change filters at that mileage. For me, it's cheap insurance.

You obviously have a love for your vehicles & your family! I've always said you take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you! Do you still own this rare Lincoln? I just recently got one that had 136,000 miles roughly on her! Throwing parts at her I stumbled on your video here! Curious to see if you know what you have and maybe share more info with me about it if you do!

For any new viewers this is pretty much the procedure for the 97' to 2007 year model Expeditions and the 98' to 2007 year model Navigators! It may extend past 07' but I haven't done our 16' King Ranch yet but have had a 98' XLT 4.6 , 99' Eddie Bauer 5.4, 2000 Lincoln Navigator 5.7 32 valve, 2001 XLT 4.6, 2003 XLT 4.6, TWO 2005 Eddie Bauer 5.4 3 valves, 2006 Eddie Bauer 5.4 3 valve, 2007 Eddie Bauer EL 5.4, 2016 King Ranch 3.5 Twin Turbo V6! I still have the 03' , both 05's, the 07' and the 16'! Currently on the Lincoln though!

If you're not in a rush order them online or get them at Harbor Freight! The parts houses are outrageously priced in my opinion! But if you need it now you pay what you need to pay to fix your ride! I personally shop at AAP! Have never in my 30 years shopping with them have I gotten a faulty part or bad battery! Found their batteries last longer if you take care of them! But that is before they bought the Die Hard brand!
