I just wanna say how thankful I am to have a channel like yours to help me do my own maintenance. I was quoted 450$ for a motor mount swap, bought the part for 38$ and had it done in less than an hour by myself because of your video.
Awesome! I'm glad the videos are helpful!
@@chrisfix estoppel e,lkkkk
I have watched several videos and this one had the best camera angle and explanation… I’ve only replaced fuel filters on 1970s vehicles where they had the rubber hose and clamp so this tool explanation and visual was wonderful
Chris, you have the absolute best automotive channel on youtube...hands down. Nothing else even comes close. Thanks again for all that you share.
+Silver Maple Idk, scotty kilmer makes me feel warm on the inside.
Taylor F. Yea, Chris makes good vids but Kilmer's tips have saved me thousands of dollars while chris's has saved me hundreds. But keep in mind Kilmer has been doing it for 40 years and the guy never seems bummed out. Any how, both channels are awesome. They should both team up every once and a while. Chris can hold the camera and do the video editing while Kilmer fixes everything...lol Ohhh, or better yet do a mechanics jeopardy challenge.
@@CT_Taylor He used to annoy me but I look forward to seeing his videos
Just did this today on my 2011 Ranger. I even bought the same fancy disconnect tool. Turned out I didn't need it. Everything is just a push type disconnect.
Keep up the video's.
Christ I have a 1999 volvo S80 2.9 cranck but don't star but if I disconnect the negative cable an reconected the car star can you help me please what is the problem I'm from dallas tx tankyou christ
Chris, thanks to your videos, I changed my brake fluid and my fuel filter out today. Thanks for the great videos.
Steps were not clear. How do I put the transmission back together?
+drink15 Mistook pen for penis and got my dick stuck in the fuel line...
+drink15 LOL, dont ask me, transmissions are one thing I dont mess with haha
You forgot to jack your car back up. You may need to remove the front blinkers and since you are doing that you might as well change the blinker fluid as well. No one likes a blinker that does not work.
+Justis Cady See, the joke here is actually on all of us. Because I'll bet it wasn't stuck; there was plenty of room.
drink15 You don't. Just drive without a transmission, I'm sure you'll be fine. * cough cough*
Just changed my fuel filter on my 05 ranger edge. My fuel removal tool will remove 2 of the 3 lines. I remember watching the pen cap trick...worked perfectly. Thanks chrisfix...the cap is now a part of my toolbox.
You’re the man!! Been watching your videos for a long time and have learned most of my stuff by watching you! That pen cap tricked just helped me out a bunch. I’m tight on money and every little bit helps. Keep up the great videos!!
This man just showed me how to change my fuel filter with a pen.... you the GOAT bro.
Replaced my fuel filter today on my 2000 Ranger. Excellent instruction. Many Thanks to Chris!
Great video, I just changed my 99 Kia Sephia fuel filter, after learning everything from this video, awesome job on explaining procedure. Great job !
Great video. From replacing the fuel pump yesterday on mine I found a new way to get off those lines. Those two small lines you used the tool on can be removed by just pushing in on the hose (toward the filter), then while doing that push in on the orange clips with your finger, then just pull the hose off. No tool needed! Seen several of your videos, always quality stuff.
😢2oo4 monte🎉 Caro filter o-rings, leak, probably not needed,
I watched several videos changing a fuel filter on a Mazda Ford whatever and this was by far the best. it was very clear and it was helpful. thank you.
Your Channel is amazing. I have an 08 Ranger. It is great that almost every video of your truck you do, is so compatible to mine. Doing my Fuel Filter this weekend. Watched your belt episode, I did that yesterday. Watched your Idler Pulley episode, I changed that Yesterday. No more squeaks. Your Channel makes my truck run like a champ.
How easy was the filter change for you? Did you use the disconnect tool?
DUDE! Thank you so friggin much for posting this! For days now, I have been searching for the correct way to remove these clips, all I've come across are people breaking the clips, then paying a ton of money to have a mechanic replace the fuel line, or some hillbilly rigging to keep the fuel filter in place. Thank you again!
No problem Jason! Glad the video was helpful!
Hey Chris, can you do a list of must-have tools for repairing cars? Breaker bars, torque wrenches, etc..
You're the best, thanks!
+Sir Bacon That is a great idea. This is my top 5 favorite: ruclips.net/video/ZqJIaXXLAvs/видео.html
Another great how to video Chris. Gonna change my filter next week.
Thanks, Chris I am from Saudi Arabia . Your video was greatly helpful to buy this tool and changing out the fuel filter easily.
I like your video style. Quick and to the point. No stammering and unnecessary dialogue.
+J Ringo Thanks!
Good job Chris - your repair videos are the best!
Just replaced my fuel filter on my ford ranger at 130,000 miles thanks to this video, one the of the plastic u clamps was broken 2:34 (just stuck a hose clamp on it) and I used the pen cap trick.
as always chris brilliant video well thought out and explained, a genuine credit to RUclips and for everyone learning these skills
+Daniel Wild Thanks Daniel!
Just replaced the fuel filter in my 2001 Ranger. This video explained everything perfectly. Thanks!
Great video Chris! I love watching your videos, I learned everything I know because of you! Keep doing what you do best!
+Sergio Gonzalez Thanks a lot Sergio!
Great video. I changed the fuel filter on my 99 Ranger yesterday. The only problem I had was that the auto parts store gave me the wrong filter. When I thought I had it installed correctly and tried to start the truck, I had gas pouring out all over my driveway. Several attempts later I notice that the filter line was slightly smaller that the old one that I had removed. Once I got the correct filter it literally took less than a minute to install. thanks for the video. Keep making these videos.
BEEN SEARCHING ALL DAY FOR THIS VIDEO THANKS AND GOOD JOB
Awesome! I'm getting the quick disconnect tool for my 2002 Ford Ranger. I can't believe how simple this is. Thanks Chris!
+LARRY MARTIN No problem!
Thanks man for the video it really helped me I just installed a new fuel filter in my ranger with that homemade disconnecter, thank you
Excellent video. I looked at another guy's that came up first on a Google search is nowhere near as explainative as yours. Thank you very much sir
marking the milage on the filter itself abd the pen cap tip made my day.... every day one can learn something.... thanks.
+chungaleta1234 Glad you learned some new tips!
Saved me a whole £5.40 and a three day wait . Thank you so much 🙏😁👍
Great job Chris. Love all your videos. Very down to earth and informative.
+Mark Akin Thanks a lot Mark!
Much thanks, again, Chris. I finished changing out the fuel filter earlier today on my 2007 F-150. Your video was greatly helpful.
+David C awesome!!! I'm glad the video was helpful and nice work!
great vid...good close ups of the tool in action...and great improvisation
Chris, love your videos brother. Just want to mention that I have an '02 Ranger and with those orange and green clips, you dont even need a tool, you just have to push down on the orange or green part while pulling on the fuel line at the same time. It is quite simple but took me a while to figure out! Keep up the good work man.
+Mike A-strong Thanks a lot for the tip Mike! I wanted to show how to use the tool because not everyone is as fortunate to have the clips to push on!
Wow Chris your channel has really taken off, I remember when you had 50K subs almost at the 500K mark keep up the good work bro!
+ric ric Thanks a lot man! That is all thanks to subscribers like yourself! I really appreciate the support!
@@chrisfix crazy, from 500k to 8mil in just about 5 years. Congrats bro
Hi Chris, Genius 💡 Idea!! homemade diy tool, a Bic pen cap. Took a couple reWatches for me to learn, push, The Twist. Worked like a charm on my '04 Suzuki XL7 fuel filter connector. Whoo Hoo
🎉 Thank You! 😅
As usual, Great information and straight to the point.
I'm just here to hear worter.
+XxS1l3nTxa1Mx hahaha
lol
Dude why does he say it like that do Canadians say woter
Then go to the Wooder Pump Video lol
Can confirm, home made pen cap rigged quick disconnect worked like a charm. Thanks +ChrisFix!
Even though the tubes were different sizes I think it's good practice to label them if possible just in case. Also I think writing the mileage on the filter is a great idea! Thanks for another great video Chris!
+G-Man Thanks a lot for the tip!
lol,,just like tattooing Entrance and Exit on the Ol'lady's holes
Best instruction on this type of filter Chris.
This video saved my a lot of trouble, thank you !
Nice video as usual, Chris! One tip I have found that seems to help with stubborn fittings of this style is to give them a good shot of Kroil or WD-40 before removal. I try to kind of blast out any dirt or grime in the fitting and they seem to come off a little easier...especially the one with the plastic clip. Thanks again!
+Dewy Russler Thanks for the tip! A penetrating fluid would definitely help if yours are stuck!
@rTZink124 if your replacing the filter, it dosent matter you’re replacing it anyway
Always informative. Best on the web!
I wish this video and RUclips was around in 2003. It would have saved me a lot of aggravation on a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0L.
Thank you so much Chris I have a Mazda truck like yours mine is a 2000 b 2500 I didn't know where the filter was now I can change it love your vids
5 years later and still helping out 🙏 making my homemade removal now.
I love watching these videos knowing well the car i have is beyond repair.
I'm lacking tools and this hack may just get our Explorer running again! My brother helped me get the fuel pump replaced but we couldn't get the filter off. His plastic clips wore out and he ran out of time. I might be able to finish the job now myself! Thanks for sharing!
thank you! the homemade disconnect tool is awesome, i want to try it
+nahuel luna No problem! Glad you liked that!
Chris Fix, your video help fix my car many time.
Wow this is such a great video Chris! Thanks for your efforts man.
+Emmanuel Morales Thanks a lot!
You’re the hero that saves me every time 😊
Chris!!, great idea and cheap using a cap pen!!!!!!!Thumb up!!!
+j charles Thanks bud!
Thank you Chris, you have been very helpful, keep on doing beautiful videos
lol so funny i just replaced my fuel filter yesterday checking on your channel to see if you had a video on this lol
+Noel Gill hahaha nice!
I dont even have a car but i still watch your video's :) but they will help me when i have a acar.
smart man Chris I'm learning a lot.. thanks brother
Very helpful. Thanks for a great video!
LOVE IT!! Short and sweet and to the point, and i always write the mileage on my consumable parts too. Beats paper that gets lost or destroyed by oil! Thanks for the heads up, keep up the good work!
+Justin D. Gates why not write it into your computer? That´s a real safe method :)
+TheCarista Got an app for that??
I use simply open office bar chart or whatever its called in english. In german its open office tabellendokument.
Or just simply write it down in word or whatever :) You do not need an app at all
+Justin D. Gates Thanks Justin!
Awesome tool!! And Chris. You're almost at 500k that's amazing!!! Hey. Soon I'm making a video on my M3 supercharged build. Be sure to check it out.
+General HowTo Thanks a lot! Yea, it is pretty exciting! I cannot wait to get to 500k! I will check it out for sure!
you made that look way to easy. Every time I work on my truck there is always some thing that does not want to cooperate. I changed out the coolant housing. It has two coolant sensors. Pull the clip out, pull out the old sensors, drop in the new and put the clip back in. Sounds simple, First off they sold me the wrong sensors. I tried to put the old one's back in. The two little clips Refused to go back in. After four hours of praying to swearing I said to the hell with it and used paper clips. So far it is working with no leaks. Had I gone to the Ford dealership and got the OEM parts I may have gotten the right parts and not have had to go through this torture.
Chris very nice showing. Thank you!
+Yiannis Pagonis No problem! Glad the video was helpful!
Nice vid-you saved me 20 bucks by using the pen lid trick
Haven't heard "fanagling" in a long time. Lol Thank you for the video.
Great video chris
I did it! Got fuel all over me in the process...but did it none the less! It's a motorcraft filter so I'm assuming it's stock. My truck has 212,000 miles on it xD I've ordered brake kits for the front and back, caliper's, pads, rotors, drums, shoes, springs and hardware, and gonna do full brake fluid flush, looking forward to it!
Chris that was awesome,
thanks man for all the idea u give us
+Moaiad Salih Thanks Moaiad! I am glad you are learning a lot!
Another awesome video, thanks!
Oh my God thank you, you're a lifesaver!!!!
Nice video. I did this on my car a few weeks ago. Didn't have the quick disconnect tool, so it was a struggle pulling the pipes off!
+Halcyon Thank you! Now you know you can make one out of a pen cap!
thanks ChrisFix, whew! that was helpful! my truck just STOPPED running, luckily I was close enough to COAST home. figured it was the fuel filter. after some difficulty and checking your video got a new filter in and it's running fine now. only cost me nineteen bucks for the filter. happy.
+William Wixon awesome!!! Glad the video was helpful and nice work.
I am very thankful for your videos.
+NinjaSkittles22 I am glad the videos are helpful!
Well, this is something that I will do this weekend. Thanks Chris!
+Andrew Heinrich No problem Andrew!
Many thanks from Argentina, I have a Lifan X60 chinese SUV, great tool pen cap , I will change easier The filter now

+uptrail71 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
You Eric and Scotty make great and helpfull videos , keep up the good work m8
+nick the dank Thanks a lot! Glad you like the videos!
+ChrisFix Forgot to say that I used your tips for the headlights restore video and the results are amazing so thanks m8
it has a quick disconnect u don't even need tools, but if its stuck its a great tool to have!
GJ
Nice video but... The first two lines had a connector that just required a finger press on the clip to remove.
Yep, just spent too long trying to figure it out. Found this video, but discovered this proper method
i tried that simple press the clip but it did not work, the space is to small to get my hands to apply enough force to release the clip by just pressing...this video much better all around!
I just pulled out the clips on the first 2 just like he did with the screwdriver on the last one. So much easier than that damn "quick" disconnect tool.
WOW! Looks easy! Gotta do mine.
great video dude. again, thanks for sharing with us.
+michael adams Thanks a lot Michael!
Your video was very good, thnk's
Good video Chris. I was looking to see if you had any videos on the Ford five hundred, but didn't see any. I'm just curious as to what to watch for or be aware of. Thanks, JohnG
you give good tips man
+martin blouin Thanks!
Nice on the pen cap! Some Fords have a button you just press. I haven't actually had the issue with fuel leaking out of a full gas tank (filter in the same spot on our Ford). I wouldn't remove the gas cap with that thing disconnected, though!
Thumbs up as always!
+ScubaCat3 Thanks and thanks for sharing!
I was curios about whether this was important or not. I only replaced my fuel filter one other time and did not pay attention to the amount of gas in the tank. Honestly I do not even remember "releasing" the fuel pressure.
it is exact same procedure on 2008 ford focus and the same filter
as allways an other great video Crisfix THX
great idea the cap pen!!!
+Francisco Reyes Awesome! Thanks for sharing bud!
Chris love your videos Great job Thanks a lot
+kobi yossef Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Great pen cap tip man wow!!
+Bob M. Tyranny Destroyer Thanks! Little things like that make jobs that much easier!
Hey Chris, thanks for this video. So If i remove the fuel pump fuse is that the same as releasing the fuel pressure from the line? It's on a Lincoln LS.
great idea
Thank you
i wrote my last comment before i finished the video man this is an amazing trick i was under that explorer for an hour trying to figure out how to pull it off. will keep this trick in mind just incase
+Alex Avila Awesome! Glad the video was helpful bud!
+ChrisFix honestly thank you chris ive had alot of trouble with lots of cars and your videos put me straight through. i have some really nice kenwwod 6by9 in my 04 chevy impala thanks to you lol
Thanks, great video
You help me so many times and heck you may have saved an accident from happening :)
+UltraFilms AWESOME! That is what I like to hear!
That helps! Thanks Chris...
I love those style of connector clips.
+Dixon Cider Yea, it is actually a lot easier (when they work).
Great video. Why are there 2 inlets on the filter? Twin tanks?
I love watching your vids :D
+Alpha Prox Awesome! Glad you enjoy them!
Good deal thank you he did a very good job👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice work. Hey Christ have ever done the brake line replacement on this truck? The lines beneath the ABS box had the flexible, stainless steel braided lines, they looked like push connect, I couldn’t find the proper tools for this. If you know the best way to got lines replace, please kindly share your method. Thank you.
