It is amazing when you think about it, but you can do a take down with almost every inch of your opponents anatomy. Start with the hair. You can get a fist full of hair, you can pull and add a foot sweep and down they go. Same thing with the ear, nose, fish hook, forehead, chin, collar ties, over hooks and under hooks, shoulder locks, arm locks, wrist locks, finger locks, bear hugs, arm drags, suplex, single and double leg take downs, kicks behind the knee, inner and outer foot sweeps, just step on a foot and push, ankle picks, then there are strikes and pressure points that can take a person down. And let’s not forget kodokan judo throwing techniques. Oh, and how about a simple shove to the chest or back. Understanding and being able to apply all martial arts techniques would take many life times. Anybody who gets a black belt in a real BBJ school with high standards is the equivalent in time, money, and practice as getting a Ph.D. from a leading university in physics or chemistry. It takes about 10 years for both on average.

Bjj is more focused on be wax’s than throwing. I would recommend judo instead if that was your goal.
