    Being the weird kid I was, I convinced my dad to trade his E39 540 in for a Camry Hybrid. I regret it every day😭 I actually learned stick tho on an E53 X5! My mom got it one day during summer 2020 when our neighbors were moving to teach my bro and I stick and I took it to college my senior year! To its credit, it made it flawlessly 900 miles from San Francisco, CA to Spokane, WA with 109k on it. It ALMOST lasted me the whole year until it leaked coolant on me at 112k💀 Miss that thing tho and I definitely wanna own one again at some point.

    I remember that E32 video really well. Awesome car!! I remember you guys talking about how well the car rode. BMW was truly on top of their game in the 80s/90s when it came to the ride/handling balance.

    These vids are really relaxing to watch and listen to thanks for making them! I wish i could own that many cars but car prices here in singapore are insanely high. Currently a base 3 series is at least 200 grand

    I love the heavy steering in my e90, I think it’s the best part of the car personally. Newer bmws don’t have the feel that the older hydraulic racks had. The auto is dreadfull but with a 6 speed manual and in rwd guise the e90 328i is imo the last true Analogue 3 series and the last one you could get with a inline NA 6 ( bmws bread and butter). The oil leaks suck but the car is fairly reliable as long as it’s been maintained properly like you said

      Preach🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’ve got an E90 330xi with the manual. Biggest issues with this platform IMO around 100k miles is the starter and WP+Thermostat. Replace those items, and you’re golden. I had to do those things. I wish I could have gotten a RWD model, as those feel so much lighter and they get better gas mileage. RWD models also ride better. I’d recommend to anyone to get rid of the run flats ASAP if the car has them on!
      Edit: Heavy steering was mentioned in the video. The E90 x-drive models have super heavy steering. RWD models have lighter steering.

    I actually really like that spec, very unique, the oyster interior looks great.

    That’s so funny. I had a battery explode in a e32 535i as well for the same reasons. I also owned a nearly identical e46 323i in college. Fun to hear someone with a similar BMW history.

    yeah i've heard bad things about e90's with an auto trans, especially the awd models. my 328xi is manual and its holding strong at 175k miles thankfully. when I bought it i had a lot of electrical issues that were a pain in the ass but after sorting through all that its been great, and I love the heavy steering, my parents ford focus had really heavy steering and i drove that for over 4 years since I got my license at 16 so I guess thats just what I've adapted to liking. Only major issue now is my Dual Mass Flywheel is on its last legs so gonna need to attend to that soon, I don't think its ever been replaced, but overall its been great, I'm always excited for the drive to and from work because its such a solid feeling car all around.

    I think BMW has decided with these new generation of cars that the 30i designation go to turbo 4-pots, the 40i designation to the turbo 6's, and the 50i designation to the V8s. Kinda makes sense, or at least more than what they have been doing since the Bangle days. Anyone have any more insight to this?

      @@F87Zach - My minimally optioned 230i costs only $39k, so it’s quite a bargain for such a nice car with excellent performance and sporty handling!

    The 230i is like the 325 e/es: low power, higher torque.

    On the topic of what to talk about in this series, maybe in addition to your earliest memories of cars, this is kinda sappy but why you love car culture and what car culture and the friends you’ve made through cars mean to you. What has it taught you about and how has it enriched your life?

    It looks like BMW has dropped the LSD as an option on the 2023 230i (at least in the US). Anyone know whether this is a temporary supply chain issue or a permanent thing?

    • @vomErsten
      @vomErsten 2 года назад

      @@F87Zach HUD is separate from Live Cockpit Pro. Normally it's part of the Premium Package, but with the shortages they've changed the 230i version of that package to omit it. This car is probably an early production car before they started yanking options; early cars also get the wireless charging that not even the M240i gets anymore.

    I don’t know about these new BMWs. This new 230 looks a bit frumpy from the rear pillar. The days of really good looking BMWs like the E36s E46s and early 2000 are gone.

    Idc about their reputation. BMWs are the BEST. drive a 2004 530i (e60) that’s been in my family since new. I LOVE it. The heavy steering, along with the buttery smooth m54 engine, it’s just the best. Gotta deal with the common problems of an 18 year old bmw, but it’s 100% worth it
