I strongly recommend a base 230i without expensive options in this model. I paid $39k with only Convenience package and heated seats and steering wheel. This car is a perfectly good daily driver without the added performance options.
Thanks for testing this. I’m seriously considering a new 230i, and fuel economy is a big factor for me when car shopping. Not the biggest factor but it’s up there, especially when the car takes premium gas.
The 230i is great value in base trim without the addd costs of M Spirt and Handling options. The car drives great in base form without those expensive upgrades. I just have the Convenience package which was added on already by dealer. Purchased it in Alpine White with the Cognac(tan) interior. $39k
@@bj10jgo - I’ve had no issues and would high recommend it. Only issue is if you need more backseat room or need cargo space. It’s a comfortable coupe that handles great, is fun to drive and has that luxury BMW feel.

Spec'd out at $47k (including tax, title and fees) dealer is quoting me a 10k miles/year, 3 year lease with $2500 down at like $880/month. Does that sound about right? Is it because residual value is bad on these? Seems high to me.
2500 down isn't very much. You won't get a very good monthly with about 5% down, your typical down payment on a vehicle purchase is 20-25%, but I was always taught to put as much cash down as you can afford to either reduce the monthly or reduce the loan duration if you're buying. You also typically get cheaper insurance if you go down the purchase route. I've only ever bought my vehicles, currently I spend $380/mo on a 19 STi that set me back 43,000 after titles fees and taxes, so $880 still sounds very high. Right now the residual on any vehicle is crazy high, most 3 year old cars are reselling at their MSRP.
Lease deals are bad in general right now, and the reason is pretty surprising. High lease costs are a reaction to the high used prices. Leases that are expiring now are getting bought out and flipped instead of transferred to the banks -- this is because the car is worth much more than what the residual is. The banks don't like this -- in particular, they don't like the volatility in prices-- so they're setting high lease prices to discourage people from leasing. PS: If you have a lease expiring as of this writing, definitely consider buying the lease out and flipping the car. You can probably make a pretty penny off the transaction. Just make sure you have another car purchase lined up.
@@anhayes25 yup Leasing a car, especially a bmw right now makes little sense. A new m3 with 10% down is over $1k/month on a lease. It’s not much more to do s 60 month finance with good credit.
The base is a 230i which starts at $36k so this car has some expensive options. This has about $10k in options for about $47k. I just purchased this car with only the convenience package for $39k.( without the M Sport and Dynamic Handling packages you save a lot!

So much more character than any SUV. But I suppose those with kids get much more use of the SUVs.
