    I said this earlier. I sold my 2018 BMW M240i 2 months ago to get a BRZ. I also have a manual 2018 Mazda 3 GT. When I relized my Mazda was more enjoyable to drive than my BMW I knew it was time to get a BRZ. I wouldn’t call it fast but it also isn’t in V8 territory. It is a nice middle ground for performance and practicality while remaining RWD. You can’t go wrong with either. faster doesn't always mean the "most fun" or "the best". it just means faster. a turbo-4 cyl car beats a naturally aspirated car (with slightly more displacement); not a news flash. then, the turbo car also has launch control. BRZ still wins because you actually have to drive it, unlike the Ultimate-sit in the seat/push 3 buttons and one pedal-Machine. It's like a pro cleaning up at a high-school game...

    • @SuchFinessse
      @SuchFinessse 2 года назад +4

      “BRZ still wins because you actually have to drive it” Huh??? Okayyy Mr.Participation Trophy, you really came to comment this on a drag race video? Thats the whole point…
      The race is still interesting considering the fact that BMW is 700lbs heavier. Even if they were both manual, the BMW would win because of torque alone, and that’s impressive for a car that heavy. I actually thought the BRZ would win based on weight alone but you can’t do shit without torque in a straight

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 2 года назад +2

      @@SuchFinessse...maybe I should have clarified the BRZ/86 win in my book as I prefer three pedals. Heavier or not, the BMW can deliver its (under-rater) torque 4k rpm sooner and maintain that level until the next shift. Sure, it was a "fun/casual" race, but it just showed me that the more powerful, more expensive, 8spd automatic car can walk away from brz/86. That's why I don't race anyone in my WRX, or entertain their urging me "you wanna go bro" because I know a 4 cyl Camry or V6 Challenger will more than likely do the same as the BMW.

    • @SuchFinessse
      @SuchFinessse 2 года назад +1

      @@K03sport I’m snippy sometimes. I thought you were one of those complainers. Totally agree, the BRZ is a dub over the 230i. That thing is soulless, bulky, and kinda ugly. Not to mention the vague steering and boat weight for a coupe with that power. I wish BMW would just make another NA car with the N52 that “competes” with the brz (not in price lol)

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 2 года назад

      @@SuchFinessse...if BMW could leave their "luxury" vibe behind and build a plebian car (even MINI has luxury pretentious vibes and it shouldn't) that does great BMW things without the bloat (aka a modern 2002), then that would be a great car. But to have to get a $50k M2cs (w/ gold wheels) for "old" BMW essence is a bit much. BMW has a certain plan for the future and it's focused on luxury and electricity and not fun to drive back roads commuter.

      Reminds me of all the people comparing the BRZ to the S2000 and saying that the S2000 is still a beast today but... that actually makes the s2000 look bad because it was near the price range of a porsche boxster back then so of course it was going to be faster than the average car at the time. But if you look at how fast the base boxsters are now, and the price. The s2000 is a very slow car now for the money and says a lot about how fast the "cheap" and "slow" cars are these days.

    2 very good cars, 230i is underrated like most BMWs, and BRZ is underrated in horsepower as well!!! This is what an extra $6000 gets you in the 230i, more horsepower, better interior, good handling, but heavier. The BRZ is perfect as is for a $30k car, light, spartan interior, a driver's car.

    • @user-bs1wx1tb7e
      @user-bs1wx1tb7e Год назад

      Indeed. Here in EU though, especially in my country, Greece, the BRZ/GR86 is an even worse proposition. Due to severe taxes to ICE cars depending on displacement and CO2 emissions, the BRZ is VERY expensive, almost double the price it has in the USA. The 230i even with many options is around the same price, and really, there is no comparison in terms of luxury and practicality. Sure the BRZ/GR86 is more nimble (and better looking), plus it is NA which is great for longevity, but other than that it just handles a little better, all the while it is slower and burns far more fuel. Plus the automatic GR86/BRZ is even slower while you get one of the best automatics in the business in the 230i, and with the limited slip differential, it handles pretty close to the BRZ.

    • @Briggsian
      @Briggsian 2 года назад +5

      @@alengreen589 Because it only makes 210ish whp. It's slow in a straight line against most sporty cars, but that's not the point of the car. The point is that you can actually push the car and have fun on public roads without driving double or triple the speed limit. For context, something like a GT350 can't be rev'd out in any gear except for first without breaking the law. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a high-revving engine when you are constantly risking a fine/jail time just to experience it on the road.

    • @notsure3535

      No torque. Torque wins drag races.

    • @KTH96
      @KTH96 2 года назад +4

      @@alengreen589 Because at the BRZ was never designed for outright speed. It wouldn't be possible at its price point.
      You buy a BRZ before you want a focused RWD chassis for tackling tracks or your favorite mountain road. The NA engine lacks the sheer power of turbocharged engines, but it makes up for it with better response, higher redline, and more linear power delivery. It's a pure driver's car.
