- Rosalie Fish is an 18-year-old member of the Cowlitz Tribe and a competitive runner from the Muckleshoot Reservation in Auburn, Washington. She graduated this year from the Muckleshoot Tribal School, where she represented her school in the Class 1B Washington State Track Meet, earned three gold medals, a silver and a sportsmanship award, and used that platform to raise awareness for missing and murdered indigenous women (MMIW). Her passions include running, youth empowerment, indigenous visibility, upholding and practicing native traditions, as well as uplifting and advocating for native communities and native women. She is excited to share her work on MMIW with the TedXYouth @ Seattle community because, according to the Urban Indian Health Institute, Seattle leads the nation in MMIW cases. Recruited for her running ability and proven leadership Rosalie will attend Iowa Central Community College in the fall where she will continue her athletic career and her activism for MMIW. Incredible young lady with a powerful voice. Glad to see TedX showcasing her story.
I respect her so much, for all that Rosalie Fish has done and continues to do. I wish her a long life of happiness and health. I stand with MMIP.
this made me cry... what a brave young woman... who are doing all these crimes towards them ???
ME TOO SISTER!
Our school is participating in Awareness of MMIW activity. I shared this video with my students. I am not indigenous, but my students are. My daughters are and I live and teach in a Native community. Rosalie- your voice and your story are very powerful. Migwitch
Rosalie, you are amazing. You are a gifted leader already at such a young age. I'm glad you found the gift of running. It makes us strong inside and out. I look forward to seeing you run your way to political office someday, if that is your interest. I just finished reading Yellow Bird, which gave me an awareness of this largely unreported issue.
I showed this to my students. My job is to teach English to newcomers to Canada, but as a Metis woman I cannot keep my silence. I want my students to learn about residential schools, the 60s scoop, mmiw, and even now how child and family services are still taking our babies away. My students teach me about their culture, I am lucky. They enjoy learning about our culture too. They had no idea about all of the injustice faced by first nations people. They often say but why don't they fight back. I think education and awareness is the way to fight back. Silence and shame has to end. Our stories have to be heard.
I agree completely!
Rosalie, keep fighting for yourself and your community and you will come out grown.
Every human being has the right to dignity, and everyone is their own entity which must be respected.
Congratulations on your determination and may this vital force never leave you!
Very proud of you for standing up for our women very very proud!!!
How has this not gone viral
This upsets me so much. Thank you to Rosalie Fish for such courage to share what's happening to Indigenous women and girls. How can I help as a white woman? What is my first step?
Such a powerful talk and call to action. Thank you! Standing with you Rosalie.
Such a meaningful topic and Rosalie has a very powerful personal story. Thank you for sharing, Rosalie. You are an inspiration!
I feel so fortunate to make it to 34! Being indigenous, I fall in a majority of these stats.
We need protection for our Grandmas, aunties and sisters. This is egregious and I cannot believe how bad it is getting, even in this modern era.
I suffered from internalized racism and only just realized this in my 30’s. You are so brave and I am happy that we have sisters like you out there bringing more awareness to the community.
This is heartbreaking. What can we as a people do to help?
WOW, PROFOUND!!! GOD BLESS YOU ROSALIE FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always
This woman is my hero!!
More must be Done to save native girl's because something going on 😢

Why is the media ignoring this?
busy covering our former president's antics!
Because they don’t care

Thank you for sharing your story! ❤️
Miigwetch! We are strong!
Klahowya my beautiful sister. Thank you for your courageous journey to bring enlightenment to MMIW. Run strong and shine on!
My oldest sister was a MMIW. No one's listening. This isn't okay.
The first time I heard of the issue was through the tv show Alaskan Daily at Disney Channel. Thank you for making this more visible.
Thank you so much, your speech brought me to tears. We all need the courage to help one another and be accountable for bringing native people to the forefront through respect, honor, and acknowledgement.
What a courageous young woman. I stand with Rosalie Fish!
I'm from/live in Iowa. Our colleges our great here! Very great Ted Talk.
You are so powerful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
As a white women I am so embarrassed of my race. I have only heard about these missing women this year. I asked the first lady, if these women were white I believe I would have heard about these women along time ago.
Don't. Do not ever be ashamed how u were born. Be proud of who u are and be proud of ur heritage, well of course not the bad parts, every heritage has those. Yea, ik what happened to the natives and it was horrible, but that is not ur fault. On the other side, yes, her story was incredibly suppressed and it is sad. She and other people like her need to be heard.
These indiginous woman who were killed just had bad karma. The wheels of the Gods grind exceeding slow, but they grind exceedingly fine.
Use the negative feelings to help them :)
Beautiful.. thank you for sharing amor!
Powerful. ❤
Thanks to your voice and courage, I now know. Tell us what we can DO in future talks. Caring will not bring change. The world is listening now..
This is so horrific. Who is killing native women? This is scary. I’m living in Europe so I don’t understand why native women are so vulnerable.
I didn't know this...My God. Thank you, Dear Sister.
Thank you so much, the time has come to put a stop to us being haunted by Canadian and American society who were haunting us since they settled here.
tears. just tears.
We Praise God 🎉 for you all🙏✝️💕
What a powerful beautiful woman. Native pride.
This was so hard to watch. She is such a powerful young woman.
Great to meet you, Rosie!
amazing young woman
Beautiful
We are white with a dash of cherrokey, (some say this does not count), my great grandmother grew up on the res Oklahoma, my teenage sons would like to know how can we help these beautiful girls.
You are a hero ❤️
keep up the good work .
The laws on reservations have to change. Juristictions have to change. These abductions have to stop. The human trafficking circle has to be shattered. These women & children have to be protected...that is the main job of governors...to protect. The gangs need to be eliminated from reservations.
Cartels, S13!
the movie Wind River has sent me here
So sad to see no natives in most USA movies, how can their young inspire from Hollywood/Broadway?
BRAVO!
Wonderful content and editing video, really enjoyed. Keep it up and you have
my full support see you around mate!!!!
Amen
What are some sites where people can go give donations or sign a petition to help?
Not trying to undermine the Gabby Petito incident, but if she was indigenous it would have never made headlines.
FACTS
Where are these girls Fathers and brothers , husbands and cousins? Where are they disappearing from? From what I have been able to gather, a lot of these girls are walking down long country roads, in the middle of nowhere then they never arrive at their destinations. Where are they disappearing from? I have watched several videos of this phenom and details are not expressed and Fathers never seem to be interviewed.
My mother pulled me away from my family along with my sister's. Someone in power goes around and gets the kids out of the schools. Happened to me. I was tolled to tell everyone the guy was my grandfather and he was not. My mother would move us but they still came and found us. I'm dealing with alot of triggers now of my past. I'm 40 years old now. One thing to look for on your child is a bruise on the spine. Some of these guys give a injection to make there bottoms go numb. As I went through . Others didn't. I remember being threatened if I made a noise I would get barrier at heart island. As a child I didn't even know what that meant till this past year. A child may become mute and not talk much anymore, like what happened to me. I watched a guy pay a lady at a hotel before I had to go in a suit case to clean up the mess in the room. To get rid of evidence. I remember it all now. I had counseling for 13 years and just recently started getting the triggers. I remember faces I remember some names. I remember one of the lady's at the school grooming me. If the child looks at the man after being told " don't look at me" they end up at heart island.
❤️
When my daughter told me of this story in February 2019 I felt sick all I could think about as we are walking in Fife WA and I'm noticing have you seen me signs of native woman missing is this sound like someone is commiting genocide trying to wipe out an entire population of people native people by killing off the women. Because without women natives most certainly will become extinct. I ask my daughter why would someone want to do this and who would want to do this? I ask her what does she have any ideas on what we can do to help figure this out? We decide to start talking to people we know telling them what is going on asking them to help in the same way informing the world around us. Both my grandmother's we're full blood natives my maternal grandmother was adopted out and didn't know until later in life then was embarrassed to tell anyone. The sadness in that. Her tribe was called Algonquian but now basically has no tribe and is used for a collection of languages used to describe the different languages. My paternal grànhdmother came from the Midwest she was in the Chippewa tribe. But embarrassed she to never learned who she was and her importance in the world. I feel sad and angry fir both of them all their children look native in lufing me although I am a light skinned i have all the classic and beautiful features we continue to educate as many people of this genocide as we can . We have suffered enough. I Wii stand on corners and yell out the manes and ages of our missing sisters, mothers, aunties, our family. We must fight to stop this before it is too late.
These stories are very disturbing and upsetting
Prayers for these missing Women families, and Hoping for Safe return
I believe in the Safety and Well-being Women, Children, and Men
WOMEN Have the RIGHT to FEEL SAFE and BE SAFE
This is a reply post regarding a article on Assault Against Woman:
For what is statistically true, or accurate, and even what is not included statistically, and all other crime such as this is what is ( violence against women) Always unacceptable...
Women have the Right to Feel SAFE and be Safe...
No woman..., or person....child...should ever have to experience this kind heinous personal intrusion in their lifetime, this seems to be occurring at least according to news reports more, and all to often.
Actually this activity should be in a stage, or state of Reversal, and NOT Increasing, I am continually upset as well as greatly disturbed in hearing such stories, as I have always have been...
My Heart Always... goes out to any person which have experienced any such similar experience of intrusion, attacks, and, or invasion of their personal well-being... due violence, and or violent behavior,
I will continue Praying for the Safety and Well-Being of Others...
Keep everyone SAFE
PLEASE BE SAFE

What is the reason? Anyone researched this problem? There should be a solution. And it should be found very soon.
Has anyone ever been caught for committing any of these murders !?
No more stolen sisters
I am apprehensive
