Back has always been easiest to build for me..and that’s 100% due to me being fortunate enough to find John’s early videos when I first started training. I’ve Tried every method, variation, technique, tempo, on and on … since then, learned dozens of others in a decade as a personal trainer- and still to this day- John’s information is the best there is ❤️ RIP legend ❤ you’re missed every day, always ❤️
I just did Back today and the Meadows row and Single-Arm BB row have been the only 2 excercise that I do for my overall back and it blew up.
I don't have machines, I workout at home. I only have dumbbells and barbelll and a bench, and I just couldnt get the classic dumbbell and bent-over bb rows to make me feel my lats, especially the lower lats.
But after I tried your variations, I've never felt better.
Been doing these for 3 months now and my back got thicker and wider.

Are the meadow rows more back or out? I can never tell, I do them both ways, but not sure if it’s working
@@BigstickNick Stick with what makes your shoulder comfortable. It's almost like pulling it up to yourself but a little bit out too. Experiment with both and find which one is better for you. Remember, it will always hit your back, any move that makes you pull weight to your body will work your whole back, with some tweaks to bias some back muscles more than the other, but in general, any row will hit your lats, traps, rhomboids, rear delts, whether its a narrow/wide grip or neutral/pronated/supinated.

At 45 I had to leave the rack pulls behind. I go with the Charles Glass seated dumbbell dead lift. It takes the legs out and is easier on the lower back BUT MAN do I get great total back recruitment top to bottom. Meadow rows are a weekly staple on back thickness day.

Today I trained a client whose biggest weaknesses are grip and rear delts. You KNOW the meadows row was my first thought.
Last exercise blew my back away
His "rackpull" is an rdl or i am wrong
He did explain that he didn't have a rack in the gym to demonstrate

I would say to anyone, learn how to do pull-ups properly. I have never seen anyone doing it properly ever. It’s a back exercise you should not feel like ur using your biceps at any time
