    Thank you for your whole build series, I really like the way you think for yourself and don't just follow the crowd ! There are all sorts of ways to build a van and it's refreshing to see your channel heading back to the the origins of this being free thinking, reusing and recycling materials not only for budget but also good for the environment. Happy travels!xx

    🎃 As I watched your 1yr time lapse van building video. I couldn’t help but to think of all that actual time and money you put in it to make your 🚐 home on wheels 😘👌 I am in awe of how you meticulously took the time to address the ins and out of your home on wheels 😘👍 especially the repair work on the engine and rust repairs. I can hardly wait to get started on my Hightop 🚐 van and start the process to convert my rig to get her ready for the roads (coast to coast) 🌎 Thank you for you videos.

      Thank you for your lovely comments 😊🙏 to get a good quality finish without spending too much money takes a lot of time! Enjoy the process and it is extremely satisfying 😁 Literally every day off I had was spent working on my van, and my mind was working 24/7 trying to work out the best ways to do things. What van do you have? 😁🚐

    Brilliant clever lad I love the old Smiley Face Banana engine Transits best engine Ford ever made although I have a MK 6 long wheelbase Transit that needs a fair bit of welding on not much on floor hoping to start converting it in the next month or so might pinch some of your ideas if you dont mind

      Thanks mate, very kind of you to say 😊Glad you liked the video. Honestly, I think all transits should come with a welder! But they do make a good engine and easy to fix. That’s a good project, enjoy the process and good luck to you. You’re more than welcome to use my ideas! Most are just taken from elsewhere anyway and reinvented! 😆

      Trust me, if I had the time I would have used “proper” joints. But would have taken way too long with the hand tools and machines I have. I think that pocket holes work pretty well as a quick DIY alternative.

    Hi, love the channel, I recently bought a 1998 ford transit and am in the process of converting. Are you finished posting videos on your camper. Could you look at the cab, I have an indicator problem. Do you have electric windows, I plan to upgrade my windows and finally the power steering .. has it caused you any issues.
    Thanks
    Damien

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Damien, thank you for your interest in the channel :) I can’t say for certain at the moment as I may be selling it. A common indicator problem usually stems from the indicator switch itself so could be worth replacing that to eliminate this as the potential problem. Also I would definitely suggest getting a Haynes manual as it has all the circuit diagrams in there. These items can be found in my Amazon shop linked on the channel. As for the power steering, I haven’t had any issues. I made a video for replacing the power steering fluid which may be beneficial. Best of luck with your build 😊

    Im about to take the plunge on a 1995 Transit myself, how has it been rust wise for you I'm a bit paranoid about the underside of the van and as its an ebay aution about 4 hours from me I cant see it underneath. How was yours when you picked it up?

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  10 месяцев назад

      Make sure you get detailed videos of all over the chassis if you can’t look at it. I wouldn’t buy a transit without physically inspecting it tbh. They do rust quite badly once the rust gets going. It can all be repaired and most panels can bought but it’s going to be expensive unless you have a welder and want to do it yourself :) mines not too bad on the chassis. Inner sills had gone in places. Inner wings, spring hangars are common areas and check front mats for signs of leaking. I checked mine over like I normally would but there was plenty of rust in places I couldn’t see like behind the windscreen. Good luck buying, don’t let me put you off! Just be cautious :)

    Now the inside is 2 good for this not so good outside, now if the external was an expensive sporty look mercedes type (or better )maybe worth the hard expert interior remodeling.

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  Год назад +2

      Thanks for your comment, I personally value the simplicity, rarity and reliability of my old transit. Also being ‘not as desirable’ on the outside should keep thieves away, which is a bonus in my eyes. It does everything a high end camper van does but without the high end price tag and maintenance costs. Ford definitely had the engineers involved when designing the older transits. Unfortunately I feel that the accountants get the final say with most newer vans. As long as they can make them look sporty or stylish on the outside people will buy them. However, many of the engines are made from chocolate, the ECUs get riddles with faults and it will cost you the earth to have it plugged in and diagnosed when something goes wrong - which it inevitably will. Especially with the strict emissions standards of today. EGR valves, DPFs, adblue systems. These are the last things I want to think about when I’m on a van trip! And with my van, I don’t have to. But it’s not all sunshine and daisies because I do have to keep the rust at bay. 😁

      Thank you! I haven’t had a chance to test the solar element yet. I’m looking at making a couple of modifications to give better temperature control when I have the time and funds, also need to get another solar panel for the roof as 100w isn’t enough for heating the water 👍🏼

    • @TurnersWorkshop97
      @TurnersWorkshop97  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, it’s definitely not rust on the ceiling as it has a fiberglass roof. I think you are looking at the carpet insulation that was stuck up there from the previous conversion (not me) I went over it meticulously to make sure all the rust was treated/ removed before converting 👍🏼 thanks for your comment though
