    Firstly, I swear by your product! Really saved my skin on several occasions since buying it.
    Anyway, another question - I see the CS Free is good for 300 cycles before it drops to "over 80%" charge. If I'm using a deep cycle battery, is this number still relevant or will the life of the CS Free be extended because it's using the deep cycle battery instead of the internal battery?

  • @bluelionman
    @bluelionman Год назад +5

    Okay your pitch has got me. Gonna buy this but goodness me £80+ extra for the carry case and who knows how much for the 12v socket accessory to be able charge it back up while driving car via cigarette lighter socket. Surely cost of this could include a protective case as standard!

      Hi. Thank you for choosing CTEK over and over. If the battery is just too drained to start the car, a fully charged CS FREE should be able to get it started within 15 minutes. If you have the possibility to charge before it gets so drained that it will not start the car - that would be so much better for the battery. Good Luck. Best regards CTEK Support

      @@CTEKBatteryChargers As you know, your video doesn't say if there is a certain percent of existing charge that the battery must have in it in order for the adaptive boost feature to be able to start the vehicle. Hi. Thank you for your kind words. You can not use the CS FREE together with the connector and indicator products. The reason is that those products are made for currents up to 10A and the CS FREE will, when used without power into the charger, charge with up to 20A. That high current risk damaging and shortcut the thin cables in the accessories. Kindly use the provided clamps for best result. Best regards CTEK support

Should I jump start the car first and then charging the battery or it’s enough to let the car running for 15-20 minutes. And if I need to charge the battery, can I use the same plugs for jump start or I have to comet the CS free directly to the battery which in the trunk? Thanks 🙏

    Hi Johan. I',m going to purchase the CS FREE for my BMW R 1150 GS motorcycle, connecting it - mainly in charge mode because I don't go out with the bike so frequently (so maintaining the battery charge) - NOT directly to the battery terminals pf my motorcycle BUT to the on-board electrical socket. Which kind of connector /adapter should I buy ? I've heard in your video that the duration of the CS FREE (full charged) for a battery maintenance could be a couple of days, do you confirm ? Thanks and many compliments for your video !

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  8 месяцев назад

      Hi! Because of its high power output, the CS FREE can only charge through its supplied clamps and is not compatible with other CTEK adaptors.
      If you have access to a power outlet where you store your motorcycle, I would suggest to get another CTEK charger, such as the MXS 5.0, CT5 POWERSPORT or CS ONE (together with the CS CONNECT ADAPTER CABLE). I'm not sure about the socket on your particular model, but one easy way to use the chargers I mentioned is to install an INDICATOR EYELET to the battery and simply connect to that every time you want to charge.
      I hope this helps!

      Hi! I don't know about your specific car, but some vehicles that have the battery in the boot, have charging or jump start connections under the hood. Please have a look if you do too, as this will be the easiest way to charge.
      If not, you might be able to install our INDICATOR EYELET accessory ( www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/indicator-eyelet-m8 ), which will also tell you the state of charge of the battery. This accessory (and our other accessories within this product line) is not compatible with the CS FREE however, but if you have access to a power outlet we have a range of other suitable chargers that fit with the INDICATOR EYELET.

    Hej kan man ladda upp sin egen bil utan elkabel insatt i väggen,och går det först ladda upp Ctek och sedan ladda batteriet i bilen utan eluttag inkopplad i själva ctek och hur länge kan man ladda ett halvdåligt batteri?

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers

      Hej! Du kan ladda ditt bilbatteri med CS FREE utan någon extern strömkälla men laddaren kommer få slut på ström i det interna batteriet relativt snabbt. Om du vill använda CS FREE som en batteriladdare (snarare än en Adaptiv Booster) rekommenderar vi att använda en extern strömkälla, så som ett eluttag, ett externt batteri eller en solpanel. Om du inte har den möjligheten så kan du som sagt ladda upp CS FREE och sedan ladda bilbatteriet, men beroende på hur urladdat det är kan det krävas att du gör detta ett flertal gånger.

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers

      Hi! When using the CS FREE completely portably you have an Adaptive Booster that gets you going from a flat battery in a safe way. But the CS FREE is also a regular battery charger that you can use for long-term charging when plugged into a wall socket our other power source, such as a separate service battery or a solar panel.

      If you don't have access to a power outlet, the best thing would be to get an external battery that you use to power the CS FREE as it charges the car battery (you would need the USB-C CHARGE CABLE CLAMPS). If that is not possible, you can still hook up the CS FREE to your vehicle battery, without connecting to a power source, but this will drain the CS FREE quickly. How fast it drains the CS FREE depends on the size and state of charge of your vehicle battery.

      Hi. There are no modes on the CS FREE. When you connect it without any power into the CS FREE, it will work as an adaptive booster, charging with 20A. The limit for the CS FREE to start is 3V if voltage in the battery is lower than that the charger will not start, this can happen if you have a lithium battery that have closed down due to Under Voltage Protection. It works as good for both lead acid and lithium. Best regards CTEK Support

    If I power the CS Free from my boat's starter battery, can I leave it wired to the battery full time, then if I need it for a boost then attach the clamp cables from the CS Free to the starter battery?

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  Год назад

      Hi!
      It sounds like you want to connect the starter battery to the CS FREE's charge input port and then sort of turn it around to charge the starter battery back up in case you need it.
      You cannot permanently wire the CS FREE to the starter battery, but yes, technically you could keep a set of USB-C CHARGE CABLE CLAMPS "permanently" connected between the battery and CS FREE's charge input port to keep the unit charged and then, if you get a flat battery, disconnect the CS FREE and instead connect it to the battery through the charge output port (with different cables) to boost charge it. It's not necessary to keep it connected "permanently" though as it will hold its internal charge for up to a year once you've charged it up. So the easiest thing to do would probably be to charge the CS FREE up and just keep it in the boat until you need it. Hopefully I understood your question correctly!

    Hello, quick question, is there a difference in terms of the charging 'quality' when you charge the battery in your car using ctek free (when connected to the external power supplier) in comparison to charging the battery using ctek one?

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  Год назад +1

      Hi. Yes, there is a big difference. The main focus with the CS FREE is to make it possible to charge what ever battery you have - where ever you are. The CS FREE has got a smart combo curve that works fine with both lead acid and lithium (LiFePO4) But as it is a combo curve it is good for both but not specialized on the battery it is connected to. The CS ONE on the other hand can only be used from mains, but have an extremly advanced charge algorithm that will constantly check with the battery and give it what it need. So it will invent the best charge for what ever 12V battery connected. A lithium (liFePO4) battery will be charged in a different way than a lead acid. A smaller battery will be charged with fewer Amps than a bigger one and so on. Fully automatic. I hope this gives you a bit more understanding. Best regards CTEK Support

There should be no problem for the charger or the car in terms of the connection itself, but of course there might be external damage made to the CS FREE or the engine bay itself if the CS FREE is kept loose in there while you're driving.

    Hi! Can you charge full a dead battery with CS FREE own battery?

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад

      Hi. Depends on the size of the battery - but the internal battery of the CS FREE is 20A big so it is not possible to fully charge a 60Ah battery that is totally drained. The CS FREE will need to be recharged a couple of times before the battery is fully charged. An idea is to recharge the CS FREE through the 12V output in the car whilst driving and then connect to the battery connection points when the car is not used. The CS FREE need at least 3V from the battery to start - this is what makes it spark proof and reverse polarity protected. Best regards CTEK Support

    How do I charge my car battery with CS FREE, through the cigarette socket?
    I bought the usb - cigarette accessory and I put it the IN CHARGE usb c port but doesn't charge my car battery, but the opposite...the car battery charges the CS FREE...any solutions? Don't want to maintain my cars battery with cables clamps always.

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад

      Hi. In order to charge your vehicle battery you need to connect to the recommended charge points (see vehicle manual) using the provided battery clamps. You can recharge the internal battery within the CS FREE using the optional USB-C CHARGE CABLE 12V PLUG whilst driving. The reason to why you can not charge the vehicles battery through the 12V output is that the cables between the output and the battery often are thin, and the recommended highest amperage is 8A. The CS FREE can provide up to 20A and that would in worst scenario melt the cables between the output and the battery. I hope this explains why we recommend to connect with clamps. Best regards CTEK Support

      @@CTEKBatteryChargers An adapter from CTEK with that maximum amperage of 8A is possible? Its really anoying need to charge the battery through the clamps...

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад

      @@classic_matches_10 Hi. There are two issues with this. First one is to "make" an adapter. That is on the to do list. The other thing is that many vehicles closes down the 12V output after some few minutes after the ignition is turned off - in order to minimize the risk of draining the battery through the output. So even if we make an adapter, it is not that many cars that it will work on. Best regards CTEK Support

    Hi, can the CS FREE maintain a battery on its own without the help of an external battery?

    • @CTEKBatteryChargers
      @CTEKBatteryChargers  2 года назад +2

      Hi, The CS FREE has an internal battery that can charge/maintain the battery. The limit is off course the size of the internal battery. When it is out, you need to recharge it. Our test shows that you need to recharge the CS FREE once a week, perhaps even more often if the vehicle is equipped with a lot of electronic components. For longer periods, an external battery will help. I hope this helps. Best regards CTEK Support

      To use the CS FREE portably when you're far away from a power outlet, we recommend you to use it with the SOLAR PANEL CHARGE KIT or the USB-C CHARGE CABLE CLAMPS and a separate service battery. You could still top up your vehicle completely portably, without any accessories, but this would drain the CS FREE very quickly.
