My main concern with CTEk chargers is that they run very hot. They are a handy size, but I don't like to use them that often, as I could see problems arising such as the internal capacitors drying out with the heat eventually (even though they are high temp caps.) I've had to replace the mode switches on them, which do fail. (The new ones are a bit more difficult to open up & get to the PCB.) For regular use myself I have professional chargers designed for the job. I'd think these CTEK chargers would last people longer if they were bolted to an aluminium plate heatsink &/or a computer fan were fixed to blow air over. You'd probably need a separate little D.C. supply for the fan, or it might 'confuse' the smart action of the CTEK, if you just connected the fan to the battery being charged.

I find the products, for the most part, of good design and reliability, with an exception. The Muse 4.3 has the snap-together part near the end of the two lines, however, this model when snapped into place it seems to have a short or other related connection matter whereby the light flickers. Therefore the unit does not work well or not at all at other times.

Hello on my ice cream truck i have two AGM batteries 150 Am each parallel connected (12 volt) it means 300 Ah total.Theyb supply an 150 watt fridge through an inverter.
i need to fully charge themfrom evening to morning it means 12 to 14 hours.
Another problem is that during the whole winter time, the ice cream van is out of order, well 6 long months.
In such many month the battery will discharge and ruine them.
so i need the proper charger for those batterie to keep them charged (maintain the charge) for the whole six month during my absence withouth my supervision. So without risk of fire or that the battery "cooks" due to long period under charge....Six month out of order is long. And those batterie cost me a fortune...400€ each!!
So wich charger ist the proper one for my case?
    Thank you

I must say I'm also very disappointed by the Ctek chargers. For being claimed the smartest chargers in the world, they don't do a great job and there are plenty of other chargers I've used that are much smarter and product better results. I've personally tested them with my digital battery analyzer on many different batteries with many different chargers and the results from the Ctek were pretty average, certainly nothing to write home about and certainly not the smartest chargers in the world by a long shot sadly. If I had access to put my input into the Ctek R&D division I could suggest many ways that they could improve their product so that it actually could produce much better results.

My MXS-7000 stopped working after 3 years and used only about 10-15 times. I found out when the charger got so hot that i had to use gloves. The 2 year old Sønnak-Exide Poweline battery got fried and had to get a new one.
The 5 years warranty was only in the advertising and does not work in real life. I only got a receipt from the cash register and I could not find it after 3 years. Even though the model was less than 5 years old, they rejected my claim. For the warranty to be credible, they should start handing out warranty cards like in the good old days or a possibility to register the new product online.
The MXS-7000 now gives only 0,8 volts, the reading for a charger certified by Ferrari and other big brands.

The cables/connectors are terrible quality, if your charger won't work, try pinching the contacts with long nose pliers (disconnect everything first).
Also check the voltage every now and then, I had an XS3600 that was trying to charge my car battery to 15v before it would go into "maintenance mode"!!! 15v will eventually destroy a car battery and could actually damage your cars electronics.

    • @apmirkin1481
      @apmirkin1481 7 лет назад

Strider9655 15v is ideal for a dead battery. It doesn't usually stay in that mode.
      You can upgrade the connectors.
XS3600 was always crap anyway. May as well buy a cheap lidl charger if you look to but a xs3600

In plastic housing with no EMI shielding. Good job on great circuit ideas but fail on packaging.
How about make one for Caravans and or generic leisure battery applications in an extruded aluminium shielded case to charge deep cycle AGM/Gel 36Ah+ batteries which can remain connected during use, have a solar panel input, 240v mains input which is automatically switchable between inputs as and when the solar panel output increases to such a level it can charge the battery. Have a management system so that it disconnects the battery one it gets too low and allows the battery to replenish it's charge before it can be used again.
If you are going to advertise your product for the leisure battery market then you need to meet the demands of that market. A plugin battery charger is not what those in need of a leisure battery charger need, they need a permanently installed charger combined with power supply combined with all the so called patented intelligent features to recondition and maintain a battery system.
Your current permanent so called install charger is just that a plugin charger with holes to screw it to a wooden board. It provides no cyclic use and will inject noise into the 12v power circuits used from the leisure battery which will get many in trouble for interfering with other electrical systems.
