Because the end of the episode reveals that...the kid isn't named Chuck, doesn't wear those kinds of clothes...and isn't even hers...She's babysitting him. Turns out, the bitch got the idea to guilt-trip Charlie into paying her for a kid that's not his (or hers) by intentionally dressing him up like him, and calling him "Chuck". (Notice how the kid is wearing headphones the whole time? He's like that throughout the entire episode until his real mom picks him up; therefore, he doesn't object to when she doesn't use his real name.) And because Charlie and Alan are both idiots, it actually works. Therefore this woman managed to manipulate Charlie into giving her a massive pay-day, after extorting a Child that's not even hers.

It's weird that Chuck was never mentioned again. Considering that Charlie, Alan and the other ones really thought that Chuck was Charlie's son you would expect him to be mentioned again in another episode or Charlie finding out that he isn't Chuck's father but they just never talk about him again. Also Charlie is usually pretty smart, it’s not like him not ask for a paternity test before handing a woman a check. I know it's just a show, but still.
You know, I would have been fine if they had retconned this episode and made it where Charlie's son became him instead of the lesbian chick. I don't hate lesbians, but it would have been better if Chuck took over.
Yeah and at the end there was a joke where it seemed it's possible that Judith is doing the same to Alan because an exterminator and electrician both came by Judith's house and both looked like a grown-up version of Jake(both played by the same actor). Alan says that they've been coming around the house for as long as he and Judith lived there. Apparently Alan doesn't seem to notice the huge resemblance between them and Jake. Alan is such a DOPE!
Quite so. There was also the water delivery guy. Alan got some "revenge" back later in the series when Judith had a daughter after marrying Herb and the storyline suggested that she was born out of a brief fling with Alan just before marrying Herb.

Man:(without looking at Alan) Actually sir, typing on a COMPUTER is a job skill and typing on a CELLPHONE is not. Alan: (looks towards the businessman's back)Oh, thanks. Just... diminish the little hope that I still have for my son. Jake: What kind of hope?

This episode foreshadowed CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. But, as always, stupid Chuck Lorre played it safe and turned the show into a tired and monotonous running joke, and Charlie´s departure made it all worse.
