One question: Are you planning on doing anything to the rear suspension? As a fire-engine, the rear suspension would have been set up to cope with a couple of tonnes of water in the back, as well as four hunky firemen and all their equipment. A camper is going to have a bit of weight in it but the suspension will probably be quite bouncy without all the extra weight in the back. I guess, once the vehicle's finished, it should be possible to take apart the leaf packs and, possibly, remove one or two springs.
Yeah so gonna see how it handles once done but as the truck was permanently loaded with a full tank of water ready to go the springs have sagged a bit, so might have to do something with the springs but see how it feels once done 👍👍

Jess' skillz on the up big time! Brakes (mechanics), battery tray (sheet metal) and more!
All you'll need to learn is welding Jess, and you won't need John any more! 😂😂😂
Thanks 🥰 😂😂😂 I’m gonna get him to teach me that one too 👍👍😂
Jon looking a bit cheeky in the apron 😂😂😂
Like I said, the punning this week is gold standard stuff 🤩
😂😂 pmsl 👍👍, suits me I recon
Jess you are very brave leaving Jon on his own. Belting video still. Can’t wait to see more of your builds and adventures.
😂😂 thanks, I’m surprised to be honest he behaved as well as he did 🤦♀️😂
@@truebluetravellers I’m surprised you came back to a house.
@@ichbindoof2004 😂😂😂
Jon I believe you need a new tool a long breaker bar so jess doesn’t need two wrenches -you know for safety and all😂
Oh course he has one of those 😂🤦♀️ but the way the callipers are designed you can’t get a socket on the back 😏 can’t even use the ring end of the spanner once they start to loosen as you can’t get them off! Took me bloody ages and lots of swear words were used 😂😂
Like a little ray of sunshine into my life - so nice to see you both enjoying life and working constructively together. A very enjoyable and adictive project. Keep it going.
What a lovely thing to say 🥰 thanks so much 💙
another fantastic video, first class guys. Jess your an absolute star, not many women could use the tyre machine and remove them. Jon you have a diamond in Jess she is super talented, as you are. Look forward to the next video
Thanks very much mate, she’s a diamond for sure 👍
Fantastic, thank you for sharing. A man can never have enough tools....
Thanks so much 💙💙💙 well apart from the last bit 😂😂💙
Can't wait for next week!
And I watch each one at least twice!
That’s such a sweet thing to say thanks Martin really appreciate it 😘
Brilliant video. Battery rivet gun over air all day long ive done thousands using both and even a cheap battery one is a god send
Cheers mate, good to hear I’ve made the right decision 👍👍👍
Great work on this rebuild. Look forward to all of them. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks mate 👍
Jon, I see a big swing arm there at the 21 min mark but what bike is that. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t recognize it. Wicked video this week and tons of progress. My wife and I watch them every Saturday evening and we get such a kick out of you two. Congrats on the Riveting Gun! I have wanted one for ages. The other tool I want to get is a proper Riv Nut tool. Jess will be mad at me giving you more ideas! Have a great weekend!
I’m not letting him read this one Grant 😂😂 thanks so much mate that’s lovely of you to say. There’s a few bikes in the shed, we’ve got a Yamaha tracer and a triumph bonneville the red bike is Jons dads scooter it’s a Honda xadv 750
Love me some Saturday morning true blue, nice rivet gun well worth it , as always great video guys looking forward to next week
Thanks mate, little ripper hey 👌👍
Absolutely brilliant start to the video...
Trusting John though????
Van's coming along well, looking forward to next weeks episode with anticipation.
John, you are absolutely mad...
love it.
😂😂😂 cheers mate, gotta be on best behaviour next week I recon
Great job both of you, love seeing what you're doing, whether van building or travelling. you always do it with some cheeky banter and a bare bum 😅
😂😂😂😂 best way hey Mindy 😂😊
I really enjoy how technical your videos are. Authentic and educational! I think you should do some tips/content on avoiding galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals like aluminium and steel, especially fixings.
Thanks very much, this is definitely something we need to thing about on this build 👍👍
@@truebluetravellers it’s one of those things I’ve worried about since my old materials science lecturer showed me some chart about the worse combination of metals. Twenty five years of thinking “but how do they stop that in… aircraft/buses/etc, etc”
@@barnettube from what I’ve read I think you just have to make sure the 2 materials don’t touch so silicone or tape or something like that
@@truebluetravellers a horsebox builder once told me 3M make tape specifically for galvanic isolation/insulation, sometimes called aircraft tape (I think).
Great video guys, Jon is definitely the kid who never grew up 😂❤
Unfortunately your right 🤦♀️😂💙
Very sensible. Growing up is definitely overrated. No idea why I ever wanted to be an adult…🤪
Jon you need the Cleco system to go with hat new gun now. Love the video Jess Jon. always look forward to Saturday morning when I get a chance to watch it.
Cheers mate, Funny you say that as I’ve just ordered some, didn’t know about these till someone mentioned it on the Sainsburys van 👍
I finally realised who Jon reminds me of... the Head from Art Attack. The build is looking good!
😂😂😂 pmsl, I used to watch that
Great seeing transformation looking good 👍 Need a nice Stainless Exhaust to offset all that black and red 👍👍
Thanks so much mate. It’s a pretty distinctive colour scheme isn’t it, will defo need somethings to break it up 💙
Excellent, looking forward to next Saturday already 😂😂 you're both comedy geniuses 😂🫶🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
That’s such a lovely thing to say 💙 thanks so much 💙
Not bad on the old tools there Jess, very very impressed! Can’t really say the same for Jon’s cooking skills… OCD have me removing the shutters and fabing up panels to match the bodywork for a cleaner look, coming along though, awesome build and an awesome couple.
Thanks very much mate, I can get the proper side panels to make it look the same as the front, not cheap mind but just like the look of the shutters to be honest 👍👍
Every video brightens my day. Both such a laugh, the chemistry between you is unmatched 👍🏻.
Thanks very much mate glad u enjoy them 😊
Big Red coming on already and looking good❤
You deserve the river gun and a great addition to the workshop, well done following the rules the general left for you Jon……was expecting you in Jess bikini and the welding helmet, so good for you doing as the boss told you😂😂
😂😂😂 ah I missed out on that one, would look the part like that 😂😂👍 maybe not week 👌😎😂
You Two, you make my day, thanks 👍👍
What a lovely thing to say thank you 💙
John the rivet gun is a game changer. I repair, spray coach/buses etc and got one about 9 years ago. It saves so much time. So more time for tool Tuesdays and man shenanigans ! 😂
😂😂 glad to know they last a while as well then, looking forward to testing the old beauty out 👌👌
I got to say the Rivet guns a beauty 😃🙌 and I mustn’t leave out tge General it’s clear to see where she gets them guns from whipping the wheels and tyres round like they were frisbees 😜
😂😂😂😂😂 they are getting bigger too 💪💪😂😊
There’ll be a new Olympic tyre changing event soon you watch 😃 💪
The boy can’t help himself Jess, but you wouldn’t want him any other way
Great content as always see you next Saturday
😂😂😂 unfortunately your right 😂😊
Morning jess and Jon been looking forward to this all week starting to look good love these camper builds and the comedy that goes with it lol😊
Thanks very much mate 👍👍
Nice! I too am a Crocs & socks welder! I'm really enjoying the videos. Great stuff from great people.
Good man 👌👌👍👍👍 cheers mate
its all bout the welding with the crocs and socks! I do it all the time! crocs are fantastic shop foot wear!
😂😂😂 exactly, better than flip flops at least hey
You 2 make my Saturday morning at work far more bearable 😊..can't wait for next week and seeing Jon's new fresh cut 😅 x
😂😂 oh Sharon wait till you see it 😎 looking sharp 👌💙
Brilliant video guys. Great to see the start of an internal frame Jon put together. Quote of the day by Jess has to be ‘That’s Not an approved purchase’ 😂😂 See you next week. 👍🤗
😂😂😂😂 thanks mate, he know he shouldn’t of got it the little 💩, but I’m surprised that’s all he got to be honest 🤦♀️
Thanks for the great content regards Flipper.
Thanks so much Flipper, that’s so kind of you and really generous, we really do appreciate it 💙 so glad you enjoyed it 😘
Personally I think raptor red is a great way to go for the body. Any scuffs/scrapes/dings can be fixed yourself and it allows your budget to be spent on something else on the build 👍
Unfortunately we have ordered the red paint now but looking forward to seeing how the black raptor comes out for future projects 👍
Really enjoyable to watch, and always left wanting more!
With a little tongue-in-cheek humor that's all in good fun!
Good luck with the build 👍
A little too much cheek in this one 😂 but so glad you enjoyed it thank you 💙
Saturdays can't come round soon enough! Your making great progress, and Jess...what a grafter with those wheels 💪💪.
Finished article is going to be amazing 👍😊
Thanks very much Tony 💙
Proper helper bonus she is a good looking helper John.😊😊😊😊😊
😂😂😂 not too shabby 👍👍
John & Jess, I would just like to say, your channel is up there with the likes of “Clarksons farm”.
It’s very entertaining, very informative and just downright superb. Love you both and have a fantastic wedding.
Ah thanks so much, it means the world you saying that 🥰🥰💙
Oh dear. Do you know them personally ? It’s just a RUclips channel, they don’t know you either.
Wow Jess those “Guns” of yours sure helped when taking Tyres off, lifted them onto the machine no problem. Hope you have a good time at friends wedding. Loving the look of the underside all Black and Crystal clean. John great watching you put your skills to work on the Red Girl. ❤️💙 xxxx
Thanks very much, we had a blast at the wedding, back to it now 😊👍💙
Brilliant teamwork, even if John was left unattended he did really well. The pins is coming on great you guys are making awesome headway. See you next week, for more fun and frolics.
Thanks so much, we are really enjoying it and can’t wait to see how it turns out. We’ve not really got anything to base it on so it’s all imagination at the minute!! 💙
Fire engine is looking great! Keep videos coming, and thanks for being one of my RUclips highlights of the week! ❤️👍
Thanks for the support 😊💙
You are doing what I wish I could do, my wife and I used to love going camping etc. but unfortunately she was bitten by a tick in Dalby forest and due to a catalogue of misdiagnosis now has chronic neurological Lymes disease. Please be vigilant on your travels, with global warming the infected ticks are now spreading everywhere. ❤️
Just subscribed to your riveting channel. 🤪
😂😂😂😂 thanks 👍👍
Thanks!
I'm so impressed by the progress and the depth of work that you are doing to prepare this vehicle - terrific. And of course another great video full of information, fun and humour! Thanks
Thanks very much mate, we are loving this build and thanks for coming along with us 👍👍
Thanks
Thanks so much David, this is really lovely of you and we are very grateful 💙
Yes longer would be good, just love these two.😂
Thanks Sandy 😊
Hi guys great project, I had a couple of USA full poptops they are very simple using 2 sheets of ply or fibreboard or metal sheet or tubing hane an offset for the middle hinge and you can gat a 2 to 1 lift assist very simply the lock off the mechanism for the roof fixed the system is so simple. I'll send a pic 😁
Thanks very much mate appreciate it 👍
Hi guys, we are new to your channel and love the content.100% Raptor red paint the body, it will look amazing. I've just done my vehicle and no regrets 👍🏻 love the project!
Cheers mate, I’ve ordered the red paint now but looking forward to seeing how the black raptor comes out 👍👍
@@truebluetravellers Good luck with the painting, I used the Raptor textured roller on mine. If you don’t want to read the instructions on how to apply it! I made a little series on my channel on how I did it 👍🏼
@@livinginkevlar top man I’ll check it out thanks 👍👍
