I feel like I'm watching Uncle Willie Thomas but instead of Trumpet its a saxophone. Thank you Chad for all you do not only for the saxophone community around the globe but with all the musicians and music afficionados out there. You are very inspiring and so much fun and enjoyable to watch. The very first thing I noticed when I first heard about you and watched you was even when you are a beast in what you do, there was no ego or showing off, it was just pure music, joy, and product of your hardwork and creativity. Thanks again so much and oh by the way, I've been starting to save up for the NEXUS Saxophone. Have a blessed day

I did Jazz improv camp with Willie in High School. Your comment just brings me back to that.

Notes that I take away from this video:
Playing short phrases is another to thinking of leaving space.
Chad consciously thinks about a distinction between short 2-5-1s and long ones.
The phrase that begins on the downbeat of Bbmaj7 at 4:06 is Barry Harris 3 phrase from his 5432 concept.
The "Whoo!" comes in the space after a deliberate ending.

All of Chad's downloads are top notch. He distills years of experience into his pdf's to help players of all levels. Above all, he explains concepts clearly. His one pearl of wisdom in this video was to repeat WHATEVER phrase you learn in all 12 keys. That internalizes it so much that you can modify it to "make it your own".

Just bought it. I have a music degree, but get in my head too much with improvisation. Been stuck for too long (band director chops 😅), so I'm gonna put my money and time where my mouth is. Thanks for putting this out there at a discount.

    Hi Chad
At 6:20 I think it might also be helpful to mention that the viidim chord is closely related to the V7 chord, moreso than any other in the scale, the same way that ii and IV are linked, as are I, iii, and vi.
    Great lesson

As someone who’s used multiple Chad PDF’s, they’re totally worth it! I recommend the 30 chord tone solos

Am I the only one who thinks his sax is in C? The transcription isn't in the right key
