Discovering your educational videos on jazz has opened up my motivation and my jazz practicing. For the past 3 months I’ve improved substantially and it’s thanks to your guidance. You are helping so many of us out. Your lessons are very clear and make so much sense! Thank you!
Hi Chad and thanks once again for the great content! I just wanted to say that I started playing the alto sax in junior high school in the early 70's and continued through high school but stopped playing in 1978. However thanks to the internet, youtube and people like yourself and Jay Metcalf over at Better Sax i am once again taking up the horn. I'm trying my best to take on Charlie Parker, ha ha! I would say to anyone who reads this is that you are never too old to either take up the instrument or re-start your love of it. Heck I'm over 60 and if I can do it anyone can. I have a number of your pdf's and also taken you articulation masterclass. I just can't thank you enough that you take the time to put together just great content and hope everyone understands how valuable these lessons are...!!! Best Regards....:)
For me, the material you bring to us is of a it is of immeasurable value for this time, much is sought or has been sought on all the subjects exposed by you, none of the existing materials on the internet is definitely so rich in all terms
I have a degree in music education and am a band teacher. I play jazz gigs on the side but my practicing has been stagnant for several years. Your videos and ebooks have breathed new life into my saxophone practicing! I just downloaded the pentatonic master class and this has been a game changer for me. Your video tips about how you practice have also taken my practice time to another level!
Chad I bought a tenor sax and started playing again yesterday. Your videos have been inspiring and also very practical and helpful. Thanks so much for putting out this content!
I whole-hearted agree with the sentiments about your teaching format. I got the ultimate combo pack and realized it may take me a lifetime to master. Hopefully, all the private referemced video links stay alive in the future when I get to them all. It would be awesome to be able to download the videos as I'm fearing I may not get through the entire bundle!
🤯 sooooo goooooood. Laid out so simply and just ....so great. Thank you for posting this. As someone that's always 'stuck to the page' this was incredibly helpful. 🙏🏻
Oh yes, I have a collection of your ebooks. I have learned so much from them. There is so much to learn and you put it out there and make it easy. I think you for all you do. I looking forward to seeing you live as soon as possible. Again thank you.
Great content - not only Chad's teaching but also the production (Austin?). I used to play a lot in my twenties (long time ago), then went into another professional direction and hardly touched my sax. I decided to pick it up again a few months ago and was looking around for some material i could use as a guideline. I was blown away by what i found in general, but Chad's material (i use this channel, but also acquired some of the material from the web site) is by far the best for me. Now i wonder how far i could have gone with with such easy access to teaching 30 years ago. But mainly, i just enjoy playing again, learning tunes and try to apply some of the material to my playing - although at a fairly low level. Of course i hope for Chad and his band to go touring soon again. I know that means less frequent posts here but happy to trade that for a chance to see him live.
Thank you for another chocked-full clip! The 'root rhythm' is very helpful. When you play the simple chord tones in quarter notes it sounds so much better than when I do it.
Thanks so much for sharing all the incredible material! I'm a pro guitarist and have been playing forever (it would seem). I've studied and played with many different teachers and players, so I've learned a lot over the years. But I must say, I've learned more from just one of your videos than I did in years of trying to work this stuff out. I couldn't begin to convey how grateful I am that you are sharing these great techniques that we can practice right now. Most folks like to talk theory, but all the theory in the world by itself won't make a great player. To be able to apply these concepts immediately, in real time, is golden. I look forward to watching all your videos. Cheers, mate!
yes, thanks for your content, im neither a jaz cat or a sax player, I play guitar, but i've learned a lot with your videos, i basically take what i like to call mini licks and add them to my guitar phrases, + i get to practice sheet music since you always use it in your explanations, very cool stuff, highly appreciated
Thanks, Chad - Really helpful. Gives me a good starting point. I struggle with memorizing chords and this gives me an actual path to follow by starting simply. Thanks!
Wow this was one of your best videos yet! Thanks for not making it to flashy with random pop up things. Im really exited to try these technics out! Id love to take part in the workshop but i simply cant afford it😢
Me gusta la forma en la que esta explicado esos ejercicios, de una manera fácil para aprender a tocar jazz, felicidades por sus pedagogías de enseñanza.
This is a great lesson, already, because it is so well explain, I can understand how it works. I imagine that the full course is well planned and professionally explained. Terrific!
Hi Chad! Maby you could do a Video on how to interact with a Rythm Section in general/ my specific question would be what to do (when you Solo) when the Rythm Section (on their own) 1. goes outside of the Harmony, and 2. if the Rythm Section does „Rythmik Shifting“ like 3 over 4 or 5 over 4 (how to not get lost/keep time).
You sound awesome love listening to your playing and this old dog learns some stuff too : Hey that long hair was cool I see that you cut it off Can be annoying I cut mine too !
Wait, that root note exercise is actually genius. Unless you have a really unusual progression you dk the changes of, then your ear screws you over and you go an entire different direction
I’m new here. I play a bit of classical music quite well, but I want jazz and there is nobody doing it on trumpet/trombone, which of your videos can get me started?
A great video as usual. However, i think i have a good ear. I can hear the chords and small or larger chord changes, but I don’t know the name of the chord. If I didn’t hear the chords well, what use would I have of somebody telling me that this chord was Bb-6 going to Eb7?
almost 5 minutes in and haven't been taught a single thing yet. This video is the youtube version of using 2 inch margins and courier new on a school paper.
Bro, same. I can't play sax with people right next door and paper thin walls, I literally can only practice every few weeks when no one can hear me wailing, this sucks so much
I play the alto sax and have been terrible with theory, like really bad... Is it just me? I have no idea what he's talking about and find it really hard to grasp (probably just me), I've never been good with theory at all, my brain just tunes out because eventhough he may think he's explaining it easily to me I can't grasp it... Sometimes I get jealous that others seem to get it but I can't... 🤦🤦🤦

Thanks for your videos Chad

I really love the mini-concerts at start while showing the adds.

Interesting and useful thank you. B-flat 7 or B-flat major 7 at 12 minutes 27?
Can the master class on this be purchased?

But honestly: Chad is a saxophone god indeed.

Dont know what has better style, your playing or your mid century pad
I also approve of the furniture and styling :) That armchair...
More like Chad Stark, with that hair and beard 😂
7:13. Why not simplify all of these into a 3-2-5-1. 1 being minor
You started to say ‘You know’ like Chris Potter ;)

I wish I could play my sax where I live maybe someday if I ever own a house. For now it'll have to be an Aerophone Pro if it ever arrives.
