    A couple side notes for the minor ii V i:
    The D half diminished 7 is just a Bb9 without the root; so a “backdoor” dominant to C.
    The G7b9 is a key to understanding dominant chord substitutions.
    If you keep the same diminished 7 chord and sub roots you get all the dominant 7 chord substitutions. With a root of:
    G = G7b9, the dominant V
    Bb = Bb7b9, the “back door” dominant
    Db = Db7b9, the chromatic dominant or tritone sub (or what they call an augmented sixth chord in classical theory, just spelled enharmonically and without the 9th)
    E(Fb) = E7b9, movement by third ala Giant Steps
    They all substitute for each other as does the V of each one whether major or minor. This is one of the best and most practical things I learned in college theory. A very simple way of understanding chord subs. Thanks to Robert Panerio. 16:39

    In most of the minor prhases you demostrate, you talk abaout using Locrian on the II , but you never really play the Flat6. The example of 16:18 has a Bb but its before the actual chord , so it sounds almost like one scale over the II and the V.
