I got scammed around a week ago through this method, lost 150+ dollars so it's not that big of a deal. My friend lost 300€ steam money and 600€ of real money cuz of this scam and because he didnt know what was going on. Atleast now i know how to react.
150 is not a lot? We are talking about a fucking game. You probably bought those skins for an IRL money so it is a LOT. You basically just lost 150$ irl cash just because of that.

thank you for this, i was blind and added a chrome extension that steals your steam api key, and i was unable to find the api reset page so i turned to youtube for a guide. there was nothing wrong currently but i was sure that after a couple hours or days, i would probably start losing some stuff. Good video steam will not contact you via steam chat they may send a fake email. They can remove your prime or well make it look that way you just have to go to steam and have them re apply it to your account. A account was messaging me and tried to do this to me recently. I didn't fall for it luckily I hope you all do not either. To help prevent this when you are done trading on sites just private your inventory. Be careful friends.
I was API scammed once and noticed that my items in trades I wanted kept be removed and watch your video and notice that the account I was trading to was completely changed and different I am now watching this video and you saved me from getting scammed 1000$ thank you so much
Just happened to me today, lost $250+ so it's not a big deal. Just did everything you said to make sure I'm safe. But the worst part is it was a buddy of mine who I played with for 2 years now. Insane that people do this so don't trust anyone.

Then changed password
You should do these steps when you got hacked if you did yes you are and you can turn them back on in a few weeks. If you didnt have any problems its enough to revoke it and thats it you cant get api scammed

This just happened to me yesterday I traded over $700 worth of items and steam won’t help. The least they can do is ban the guy so he can’t sell the items on a 3rd party website
I got API scammed for around $1000 worth of skins. I did not know this was a scam method now I know and hopefully everyone else will know soon. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU COMFIRM ON MOBILE YOU NEVER KNOW

guys, i did all the steps but it still shows trade /ban in my name and that message that u have to gift within 12 hrs ....its been 3 hrs now after the steps

luckily i figured it out right before trading my skins that it was a scammer, but they did block everyone on my friends list and uninstalled all the games off of my computer so that was fucking annoying

bro these people that try to scam are absolutely NUTS! I swear they need to be stopped ;-; someone right away said "do you know how to revoke ur API key" to me and I was like thank you for making it obvious

hey I logged in on a fake buff site and my tiems are trade banned for 3 days , and i cant remoove mobile auth because of steam server now ( bruh )
Dont remove it if your items didn't get traded away your fine. Delete the API key and you are good. You can enable everything back after you are certain that your items are safe. The authenticator disabeling is only there to trigger a 2 week trade ban. With it the scammer cant take shit

so i remooved the mobile aouth and got 15 day ban and also the api key and my question is if i enable the mobile auth it says that i wont get 15 days anymore banned for trading on steam , do i need to get a new api key or dont get api key ?

Absolutely crazy, I just wanted to trade my items to my alt account to play with them on there. And this is what happens, lose a ST bayonet rust coat. Oh well..........

No, it doesn't unless you haven't removed your api key afterwards

I have a question regsrding API scams: I was trying to generate an API key for selling stuff on buff, and noticed I already had one, even though I can't remember ever activating an API key myself. I'm guessing this is a bad sign, however, I can still send trade offers without them getting intercepted (I tried this with cheap items and checked that the steam level was correct while confirming the trade in the phone app). I'm therefore hoping I'm safe if I just revoke the API key and generate a new one? Seeing as everything works fine and my account seems somewhat safe at the moment. Would be nice to not have to go through all these steps and get a trade ban etc. Appreciate the help!

first i changed my password then I traded all my skins to my friend which was a success my friend got my inventory an then I checked my api there was some random no. I revoked it and after that I removed my mobile authenticator and at last I changed my email address and scanned my pc for virus I didn't followed the steps I hope my steam acc is back

revoke api, change password, disable and enable steam guard. To be extra save just run a anti malware program i recommend Malwarebytes :)
I have a question: someone created an api key on my account so I deleted it changed my password and now I can’t log into it anymore and my mobile app says:” Invalid credentials supplied” so I changed all my password, my email my phone…
Edit: I didn’t loose any money from trades or anything just looked at anomaly’s video and decided to check and yeah someone created an api key on my account

Write Valve support give evidance you must have gotten a few emails about changing your stuff. If you are still logged in you can take away premission and unauthorize all mobile devices and redo everything with your number. If you cant do that steam support is your last chance
