Hey man, I've just got scammed today... I've done all the steps, you are saying I could get my items back ? I also submitted a support ticket to Steam. didn't need to revoke the api key (it was empty)

Just got scammed for 100£ through a market purchase where my account wallet was rinsed by a purchase of a 0.03p dota item for 100£

but how do they even got access to the account in first place?

luckily i figured it out right before trading my skins that it was a scammer, but they did block everyone on my friends list and uninstalled all the games off of my computer so that was fucking annoying

I got API scammed for around $1000 worth of skins. I did not know this was a scam method now I know and hopefully everyone else will know soon. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU COMFIRM ON MOBILE YOU NEVER KNOW

This just happened to me yesterday I traded over $700 worth of items and steam won’t help. The least they can do is ban the guy so he can’t sell the items on a 3rd party website

Thanks. Just happened to me but i noticed very quickly noticing my friends blocked, profile pic did not change but the API code seemed to have been used. Probably onto it before they could do much.

Good video steam will not contact you via steam chat they may send a fake email. They can remove your prime or well make it look that way you just have to go to steam and have them re apply it to your account. A account was messaging me and tried to do this to me recently. I didn't fall for it luckily I hope you all do not either. To help prevent this when you are done trading on sites just private your inventory. Be careful friends.

can i still do this after a year? I didnt know you had to revoke the key, idk if it still counts because i contacted steam support saying that my account was compromised, but i never mentioned anything related to an API key because I didnt know what it was, should i still do this or no?

Ok so i did it BUT it just has me locked Out is this because i am on mobile so i cant change the password but i am trade banned

i deauthorized my mobile authenticator, revoked my api key but my skins are still in the scammers account. am i screwed?

I have a question: someone created an api key on my account so I deleted it changed my password and now I can’t log into it anymore and my mobile app says:” Invalid credentials supplied” so I changed all my password, my email my phone… Edit: I didn’t loose any money from trades or anything just looked at anomaly’s video and decided to check and yeah someone created an api key on my account

How can they change your steam profile name with the api thing? I thought it could onöy recieve informatipn fron your account, not change anything.

I just lost $400 to this method, along with the strategy of bots reporting my account to actually get me community banned. I wish I knew this was a thing before yesterday :/

I have a question regsrding API scams: I was trying to generate an API key for selling stuff on buff, and noticed I already had one, even though I can't remember ever activating an API key myself. I'm guessing this is a bad sign, however, I can still send trade offers without them getting intercepted (I tried this with cheap items and checked that the steam level was correct while confirming the trade in the phone app). I'm therefore hoping I'm safe if I just revoke the API key and generate a new one? Seeing as everything works fine and my account seems somewhat safe at the moment. Would be nice to not have to go through all these steps and get a trade ban etc. Appreciate the help!
