I work in Cyber Security and got scammed too once ... at the end of the day it's not your FAULT for someone stealing your money. It will always be their fault for being scumbags cause even after you send out the money, they can still send it back, but they don't cause they STOLE it, they simply stole it. I have a saying for these moments :"Someday, somehow..somebody will have to pay for this. Maybe I won't know about it, that's fine, somebody will still pay".

I happened to open a butterfly lore mw on dreams and nightmares when it had just come out, waited a week for it to be tradable to sell it cuz I was broke and that was just truly a blessing for me and then I got scammed selling it to some guy on twitter who had fake giveaways up, a couple thousand followers, and his steam account had good inventory and looked like a professional trader's account so I believed it and lost what could of been 3.9k if I sold it on skinport. I was broken, feel you on this.

Had a similar thing happened to a friend of TimeIsButaWindow, lost a similar amount ($10,000). The only thing that you have to remind yourself is if it's too good to be true, don't fall for it. Even if it looks safe, there is still some false sense of security in it. It is not the end of the world man. Money is just material, it can be replaced. Though a huge loss, the real loss is if you don't learn from the mistakes of believing, and not moving on from a terrible experience.

A seed was planted in my head that night, long-story-short one day I thought, that I could double or even triple my initial win... Obviously 15 minutes later I had lost everything(approx.1000€). Now, this is far from the 10000k$ you lost but I immedietly understood how you must be feeling. Like you've let yourself down, that you know better than and yet you still screwed up. It might be because your friend list is visible to everybody, that way it is much easier to impersonate the people you know. Also they have no time limit to recreate steam profiles, meaning that they can end up looking really convincing. It would much harder to do this if your friends list was private/friends only.

I got scammed a while back too, thankfully all the skins i got stolen i won at giveaways and it wasn't much, so no 'actual money loss' from me, but still it's a really shitty feeling, ruins your month for sure, and anything you do to try and forget about it simply doesn't work. I really hate every kind of thief and hope they get caught and severely punished someday.
Big tip is also to take it slow, scammers will break the longer you keep your cool and want to make sure things are legit, they definitely picked a good opportunity to make you slip though!

As i can see, the money you sent they have been split it up to 2 different accounts and from there one of them instantly sold them to some website that i cant tell you wich site it is, and the other one trasfered it one more time over an other account and possibly sold it then... really sad to hear form your loss but i wish you all the best sparkles ❤❤

CS Degree as well and holy crap, the amount of scams, viruses, and social engineering these people can do can be very hard to pick up on unless you had classes or went out of your way to learn. Sad it’s not taught in core education so majority need to learn. Phishing is extremely prevalent nowadays so do research. One quick way I deal with sketchy requests from people that I know making weird requests is to either contact them via a different communication method or directly ask them to answer a personal question that only we know.
I had to recover an Instagram for a friend that fell for phishing and I had to help my grandma for fake tech support scams. Internet is a blessing and a curse if your ignorant

Had a similar thing happened to a friend of TimeIsButaWindow, lost a similar amount ($10,000).
The only thing that you have to remind yourself is if it's too good to be true, don't fall for it. Even if it looks safe, there is still some false sense of security in it.
It is not the end of the world man. Money is just material, it can be replaced. Though a huge loss, the real loss is if you don't learn from the mistakes of believing, and not moving on from a terrible experience.

This video has helped me crawl out of a bad place in my head. Over the past 2 months, I got sucked into a CS gambling site, all because of a really big, really rare win that I had. A seed was planted in my head that night, long-story-short one day I thought, that I could double or even triple my initial win... Obviously 15 minutes later I had lost everything(approx.1000€).
Now, this is far from the 10000k$ you lost but I immedietly understood how you must be feeling. Like you've let yourself down, that you know better than and yet you still screwed up.
What I'm getting at is, that sharing this feeling with someone whom I really respect in the community, has helped me alleviate the mental wound that loss had left. Look forward Sparkles, you got this!

A couple months back I got scammed off a 900$ knife, I was super inexperienced and still am. But if I lost 10k I'd full on break down due to that being a completely insane amount for someone like me, and most people. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, luckily your community is amazing.

You were literally hungover and everything must’ve been weird, at least next time you know to just not do these important transfers and stuff when you’re completely out of it. No one blames you and you shouldn’t really blame yourself, at the end of the day you have everything you’ve built right here and everyone is more than happy to support you
It might be because your friend list is visible to everybody, that way it is much easier to impersonate the people you know. Also they have no time limit to recreate steam profiles, meaning that they can end up looking really convincing. It would much harder to do this if your friends list was private/friends only.

I got scammed a while back too, thankfully all the skins i got stolen i won at giveaways and it wasn't much, so no 'actual money loss' from me, but still it's a really shitty feeling, ruins your month for sure, and anything you do to try and forget about it simply doesn't work. I really hate every kind of thief and hope they get caught and severely punished someday.
Big tip is also to take it slow, scammers will break the longer you keep your cool and want to make sure things are legit, they definitely picked a good opportunity to make you slip though!

As i can see, the money you sent they have been split it up to 2 different accounts and from there one of them instantly sold them to some website that i cant tell you wich site it is, and the other one trasfered it one more time over an other account and possibly sold it then... really sad to hear form your loss but i wish you all the best sparkles ❤❤

CS Degree as well and holy crap, the amount of scams, viruses, and social engineering these people can do can be very hard to pick up on unless you had classes or went out of your way to learn. Sad it’s not taught in core education so majority need to learn. Phishing is extremely prevalent nowadays so do research. One quick way I deal with sketchy requests from people that I know making weird requests is to either contact them via a different communication method or directly ask them to answer a personal question that only we know.
I had to recover an Instagram for a friend that fell for phishing and I had to help my grandma for fake tech support scams. Internet is a blessing and a curse if your ignorant
