Respect for Robert Johnson in 2004. It's the best Blues band line up EC ever had.
Chris Stainton and Billy Preston - could there really be two better keyboardists in a blues band? Wow - everybody shines, but I love those two guys. Hate that Billy has passed.
If you play racing games. Try to listen to his instrumental song called 'Reptile' when I heard it for the first time. The first thing came to my mind is Turismo game menu song:)
Well said. That really is what it's all about. Eric Clapton and Rory Block, in my opinion, are the two people who best popularized classic blues recently. And while I like many of Clapton's original stuff, I like his covers of blues classics best (not only Robert Johnson).
Hot Tamales are a famous product of the Mississippi Delta, where Robert Johnson is from. Obviously from Mexican heritage, but most famous in the Delta of MS than anywhere else.
Just another classic moment where robert johnson show's he can play every style of blues. This somg follows a very common ragtime progression and groove. The feel is unmistakablely the classic vibe of the blues that came from the mountain are around the carolina region along the foothills that slowy swept into the mississippi and beyond, and north east up to new york. You will find other populer artists who play in this style can range anywhere between blind boy fuller, on tracks like "what's that smells like fish" and "if you don't give me that what i want" and of the likes of blind blake. Im robert johnson's case m, and the common case; the progression varies over subtle alterations of the descending chords of C7, B7, Amajor with a high A note descending to the flat 7th for the A7, to D7, and then G7 - with a turn around of C, A7, G7, and i think with a lead into the bridge turnaround of D7, to G7?, and them with the bridge being C/C7, F/F7, either Aflat, or Fdom7, to G7. It's mainly always played in the key if C or of anything tuned up or down a couple steps of capoed and still played in what ould be the key of C shape. It's normally played at this fast tempo with the same classic melody over it. A case where it has been slowed down and the chords altered for a more romantic and soulful sound is in this case of "Nobody loves you whem you're down and out" - check claptons versions. Just thought i'd share something with you you may already know that i have come to understand.
Sometimes when too many good artists get together it comes out like a nice helping of mashed potato when you'd rather just have a single more flavoursome roasted one.
why man it not my fav clapton stuff but man he is paying respects to robert johnson. Most def wish he wouldnt stop trying to make the mans legacy live on and not go un heard.
Murry Walnut actually, part of my right of freedom of speech and opinion let's me state what I said and I stand by it. come back once you've learned to play Equinox in each key. ;)
People hating on Clapton need to upload their talent for us to enjoy, because it must be something else...
I been a fan of EC 21 years 9 concerts
A gentleman....a lord of music.....just a genius....brillant...whatever he plays....
Charlie Brown .
Love it real musicians digging their soul to play together with a big smile. Ain't nothing better than that
whatever He play I love it, such an elegance, smooth flow and effortlessness ! For many years more please mr. Clapton !!
Zoran Ramzo Kamenycky totally agree :)
Love how old musicians doesnt fake smiles of force being nice, but when the solo comes they does a good smile.
Respect for Robert Johnson in 2004. It's the best Blues band line up EC ever had.
Eric's talent extends to his vocals as fer as I'm concerned.
Chris Stainton and Billy Preston - could there really be two better keyboardists in a blues band? Wow - everybody shines, but I love those two guys. Hate that Billy has passed.
Yeah, this is for sure the 'A' Team.
Imagine sitting in on that jam 😅
Just listening to these off-the-cuff moments, I'm so envious of people who can 'do' music at this level.
Red hoootttt! Clapton always is and he does it with such ease. ❤️
Those are some tough lyrics to memorize. Geniuses to say the least.
They play faster in live. And I think it's safe to say that Eric is rapping in this song.
Mr. Perfekt . loved it since the Album came out...
A lot of people like to debate Clapton's status as a guitar superstar but he is definitely a world class singer which many of his "rivals" are not.
Who clearly has a strong blues quality to their voice than him? There are many similar, yes. But better?
People that this dislike Clapton are nuts He can outplay anybody
Eric non si discute, si ama
L'evoluzione artistica di Clapton è irraggiungibile
What a genius he is . !
Slowhand plays it all with such class.....
"Finesse" is the word that came to my mind. He has such a delicate touch, it's a pleasure to watch him play...
How many years of experience could be in that room?
About tree fitty
Muchos
All
I love Eric Clapton!
It's been a long while since i saw him on a Gibson.... And Nathan East
Lol the beginning of the song sounds like the end of an 8-bit sega megadrive game.
If you play racing games. Try to listen to his instrumental song called 'Reptile' when I heard it for the first time. The first thing came to my mind is Turismo game menu song:)
I was just thinking of Robert Johnson last night.
So much talent here
he´s singing better than ever
a word for Doyle Bramhall II, excelent
A word for you - dictionary. Excellent................LOL
oh! now do you get it? it's like taking a classic and rephrasing it to make it easy to understand in modern language.
Ha! Well said. That really is what it's all about. Eric Clapton and Rory Block, in my opinion, are the two people who best popularized classic blues recently. And while I like many of Clapton's original stuff, I like his covers of blues classics best (not only Robert Johnson).
Robert Jones???

LOL, good catch, sir (or madam).
I do like that name better, though, it really is faster and easier to type :)
VioletGiraffe It's 'sir' - but don't think I'm running away from that aspect of my sexuality! :-)

Is that Billy Preston on the organ?
Steve Reed I believe so.
Merci !!
Renaud
Finally playing a nice L5
Based on the tailpiece, thin body and neck inlays it looks like a very early Byrdland
Actually the body is not that thin, also I am not aware of P90 on Byrdlands, but maybe I am wrong
Sergio Adami is this the one he played with Chuck Berry?
@@buddyollie180 Maybe. We'll never know, I guess.
Sorry, but these guys just noodling before the song starts are better than 99.99% of the musicians alive today.
Steve Gadd was also participated
Red Hot!
When I heard this song just want me to dance!
LEGEND
The title of this video needs to be rename "They're Red Hot" which is the title of the song Eric is singing

I couldn't understand the lyrics it's a shame my english isn't good enough :(
