    Those early 02-04 modules were known to fall asleep and not wake up till it was unplugged or the atc fuse was pulled, and giving a no comm or c0550 if there was comm. There's a tsb on it from GM with an update to the tccm to fix it or replacing the tccm with an 05+ one, I'd be willing to bet it's a Dorman reman part from the early models without the update. The tsb is 02-04-21-006E for reference.

    Love them Dorman Modules lol. There not scared to mess up anything on a vehicle. Its hard to imagine they make money with them crappy parts that get warrantied out all the time. Great video Ivan

    Thanks Ivan for all your hard work, BBB industries are brilliant, I used it the other night to get a wiring diagram for 2004 Jaguar x type Automatic with reversing lights not working, the level of detail is superb! cheers sandy

    In my line of work, we get reman parts. I often wondered, what was the repair to the module? I wish the reman people would give a report of what was repaired.

    • @mph5896
      @mph5896 7 лет назад +1

      Agreed, A repaired module in my opinion is much more optimal (but not practical) since you knew the previous issue.

      Yeah would be nice but then if the Raman firm told you too much who's to say you wouldn't do it yourself next time you saw the problem and that would then affect their income

    Nice work Ivan. As usual !!! You and Kieth work well together. Plenty of vision patients for the wife on the Island. Maybe time to relocate to the Island. Real estate a bit pricey..... 10 cars a day you could afford living there no problem. There can never be enough diagnosticians....... Thanks for posting the this video. And thanks to you for all the effort you put into these videos Ivan!!!!!!

    ~14:05 you unplugged the connector with key on/engine running. This likely set codes observed @16:14. I would clear those codes and restart the vehicle and see if they come back. Good video by the way. I liked learning about your troubleshooting mindset. fyi - BBB industries has stopped publishing wiring diagrams .... bummer.

    It always struck me as odd that the trend in new vehicles is to automate everything to buttons and switches. I like moving shift controls myself by hand, but evidently people who buy new vehicles like to pushbutton everything. Even the hatchback on our Subaru won't open without using a motor, it prohibits you from opening the hatch by hand.

      @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics  7 лет назад +7

      100% agree. That is exactly why I drive an older Japanese SUV with a manual transmission, manual transfer case, and manual locking hubs. Most newer "electronic assist" systems are just designed to fail and become more of an inconvenience later on in the vehicle's life!

    • @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics
      @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics  7 лет назад +5

      I despise ABS in any weather conditions. ABS is good for people who panic and mash on the brake pedal as hard as they can lol.

    • @killer2600
      @killer2600 7 лет назад +1

      I have to ask do you drive a manual transmission vehicle with hand crank windows and manual locks? If not then you should know why manufacturers "automate everything to buttons and switches." It's what the buyer wants. Sure us viewers of videos like these that do our own repairs cherish mechanical reliability and simplicity. But we aren't the buyers that manufacturers target with new product. We tend to buy used and retain vehicles for longer periods of time than the target market; and, the target market that makes auto companies the bulk of their money isn't interested in "manually" operating their car as their parents did decades ago. When they spend their money on a new car, they want something "new" on it.

    • @chungaleta1234
      @chungaleta1234 7 лет назад +1

      I recently spoke with a Mexican engineer working for Nissan Mexico. And he told me that back in the day when everything in a car was manual, 85% of drivers were male. Nowadays 50% of drivers are male and 50% female. Women started choosing cars with automated functions and manufacturers had to please their growing market since making cars only for men or only for women was cost prohibitive. It sounds pretty logical to me.

    Thank you for this video . I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXt with a 4.3 liter V6 engine. I had a heart attack in 2012, hospitalized 2017 & up until 2020 I hadn't driven my SUV. When it was returned to me the vehicle would rapidly rev up and accelerate. I've taken it to a mechanic who couldn't determine what causes this. Is the problem a disconnect between the engine, transmission & power train?

    HELP!!!! 2004 Chevy Trailblazer When i turn the key all the lights on the switch flash on the back off. If i turn the switch to anyother possition no light comes on on the switch. If i leave it on any of the positions and turn the key off and then back on i can hear the TCCM and the Actuator up front turn on and then off. Ground & Hot is good at the Actuator, TCCM and Control Modul under the dash. Yes, I also tested the communication wire at the Control Modul. Still no lights at the switch and i have a service 4wd light on the dash. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

    HAHA so what brought the module back...cliff hangar! Was it contact fretting between the terminals and during the backprobing the contact was regained, maybe a fitment issue hmmm, several other possibilities including or is it just another crappy Dorman product...makes you want to stay tuned in with some popcorn and beverage of choice. Nice stopping point Ivan! OK now that Part II came out I can disclose the C0550 is ECU/CCU and checksum test failed meaning Dorman module internal; failure DOA...no pulse...DNR!!

  • @mehmeh25
    @mehmeh25 7 лет назад

    Top quality dorman parts are always a 10/10! I wonder if the transfer case motor has an internal short that caused all of this. OR perhaps the actuator might be going bonkers causing some electrical noise hmmm the actuator might even be a dorman part as well.

      If your vehicle has post cat o2 sensors it'll throw a code. The lack of back pressure might mess up your idle and fuel economy as well. Wouldn't fly for the inspection requirements in my area.

    • @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics
      @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics  7 лет назад +1

      It would defeat the purpose of a catalytic converter but if that is OK then go for it lol

    • @gregwaters7830

      It is really sad that almost all aftermarket parts are so unreliable. I installed the driver window operator of my 2001 Silverado new OEM from Dorman and it lasted a week. O’Reilly’s was good to replace it but I still had to tear me door apart again. Is it possible to buy OEM parts that are as good as original but with all the original factory bugs worked out? I would gladly pay double for the best made in the USA by real conscientious people.
