The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I Love The Ed Sullivan Show in 1959❤
Great Performance ❤
With the one and only
Louis Prima😁❤️
I wasn’t lucky enough to see Louie but in the 1990s (or could have been the 2000s) I saw Keely Smith with Sam Butera and the Witnesses in Las Vegas, she sang all the classic songs, and I will never forget it.
The first time I was in Las Vegas in 1991, Keely Smith and Sam Butera were playing at The Desert Inn. Unfortunately, I didn't go to see them.
@@davidsigalow7349 That may have been where I saw them, it sounds familiar.
As I understand it (not an expert), Keely Smith's robotic expression was consistently part of the act over the years, and he constantly makes efforts to do the most outlandish wacky things to contrast with that. Its all for comedic effect.
My mom was a fan of Louis Prima. She said his music always put a smile on her face. I did notice the woman in the background looked sad.
Yes, I'm watching this in 2024 because of King Louis in 1967.
Louis Prima. The patron saint of feeling good and Italian Americans.
A far cry from Italian on Italian crime shown in mafia movies.
Ohhhhhhhhh yesssssss!
Im 98yo and I was there. Great night...
Loved!!!
Me super encanta loui prima
Legend has it, the guys in the Witnesses always answered interview questions with "nah, I didn't see nothin'!"
When the Rat Pack finished their show at the Sands they would go catch the Louis Prima late show at the Sahara, that's how popular he was.
I wonder what the story was there? The lady didn’t look very happy. Louie and his guys were great! I love that style of his! My dad was a fan. 😊❤
It was an act she was playing. I believe there is an interview online somewhere explaining why she looked so serious/uninterested.
She always looked that way. It was part of the act. But looking at it today, it seems weird. In real life, they did have marital problems at some point.
@@whitestorm5762Oh, okay. I thought maybe that might be it. Thanks!
@@90293Mike Oh, was she married to Louie?
@@StephanieJeanneThey were married from 1953 until 1961.
"The Wildest"...i really like Louis Prima (and his perfectly Toupee😁)
🖤🖤🖤🖤
Keely Smith always looked sad that was her trademark when she was with Louis Prima in this song it it says when you're smiling lol
Some strong Mafia 2 vibes
So everyone is animated during this number except Keely Smith. I don't think she was happy with her marriage and arrangement of the entire act. Actions speak volumes.
I was about to say the same thing ! She seems to want to be somewhere else !
She stood out like a sore thumb- almost robotic, until close ups.
I think it was part of the act.
Definitely part of the act. I bet the next song would feature her.
Louis is all jacked up on "marching powder" while Keely looks like she could use some...
Emeril Lagasse on sax
Fur shur it was part of the schstick….they played it up to great lengths. The whole group, including Sam Butera, were a mainstay lounge act in Vegas for many years. She was a SUPURB vocalist. I Wish You Love one of her best. After she and Louie divorced she married her manager, I believe. They ended up seeing to Louie’s welfare. I don’t remember if he suffered with dementia and/or other physical problems.
xd
not a fan of having Keely standing there doing nothing while this egomaniac acts up
Well maybe she didn't feel well who knows it was so many years ago
It was part of their act 😊
Doesn't scat mean animal poop, like when hunters use it to track animals? Because that is super gross
Keely Smith was criminally wasted here on a nonsense scat song.
