The awkward moment when Champs Kitchen has more subs than Ryotaro in a quarter of the time 😂 (I'd better watch out). The Okonomiyaki looked absurdly good!
Big thank you to Ryotaro for helping me celebrate reaching over 130,000 subscribers (although it was still around 120,000 when we filmed this video!) Sorry about the knock-out though!
Glad you knocked him out in the end 🤣. Your laid back and friendly attitude easily explains why you made that 120k in third of the time. Keep the mood up champ!
@@ChampsJapaneseKitchen That's actually not a bad Idea. I'd definitely watch that. Edit: Chris doesn't even have to help cooking, it's enough if he tries it.
@@ChampsJapaneseKitchen Yeah! I really like the part that you make adjustment to make it more healthier. It makes me being able to eat delicious food meanwhile losing body fat 😆
As a substitute for the yam I've landed on a combination of tapioca flour, which has a lot of mucilaginous fiber which is what makes the yam so slimey, baking powder, to replace the air that's added when you grate it, and a bit more water to make sure the batter isn't too dry
I've had this once at a Japanese shop here in the Netherlands and it was sooooo good and I'm totally in love with the taste! Definitely going to make this! Also, Ryotaro seems to be everywhere! XD
There’s also a teppanyaki place in Amstelveen that does seriously good Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki, both in Osaka style and Hiroshima style. Look up Ichii Amstelveen. 👍
Eee! This looks great! I love sending these videos to my father, because he's a lot like you in the kitchen and it's nice to have something like this to talk about, since I just moved several hours away. Thank you!
I’ve seen countless recipe videos for popular Japanese dishes over the years on RUclips and I gotta say I really really really enjoy and appreciate the energy and overall quality of your videos, Champ! It’s such a feel-good and informative experience that is topped off with a calming clip of washing dishes after a yummy meal which is rewarding/satisfying in its own way and is super relatable. I also don’t feel as guilty eating my favorite Japanese meals with your healthier options. 😂 Especially tonkatsu. Congratulations on your current milestone and I hope to continue to see your channel grow over many years! Omedetou-gozaimasu!
I just found your channel last week and subscribed immediately. I absolutely love your videos. I love Japanese cooking and your enthusiasm makes your videos so much fun to watch. And what a crazy coincidence! I’ve been watching Abroad in Japan for years and love Ryotaro as well as his new channel. I got so excited when I saw he was featured in this video! It would be so much fun if you did a cooking tutorial with Chris from Abroad in Japan! He could really use one. He’s always going on about how poor his cooking skills are. Microwaving cup ramen is about the extent of Chris’ culinary skills.
YOU DID OKONOMIYAKI?! Thank you so much! I loved the video and it was great seeing Ryotaro here as well. LOVED the "Player 2" in the animated intro. Keep up the great videos!!
This channel is so charming. I love Japanese food, I also boxed long ago. What I love most about the videos is the washing of dishes in the credits. I hate doing dishes, but this makes it easier for me to think of it as relaxing, instead.
I love all the healthy recipes on this Channel. They look very tasty too! But my favorite part of all the videos is the end where Champ washes dishes after the meal. It feels therapeutic. Calm.
This looks AMAZING! Cannot wait to try it! I just love your channel. You present your recipes in a way that makes them so simple and easy to follow. Thank you Champ!!!
I'm just eating this now after trying to make it for the first time. It turned our all right I think. I'm full, but I can't stop eating, it is just so good.
Awesome video! One of my favourite memories on my second trip to Japan was walking into a very small local restaurant where an older woman was clearly the one in charge and having her daughter assist on a very busy night. We were in Miyajima and got served an absolutely amazing Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. Since then, we have been making it at home as well.
Tried making okonamiyaki recently and from other recipes I've read, adding baking powder makes it fluffy. So, if you can't find the yam like I can't, try it with the baking powder hack, it works.
I'm very happy to know about this channel! It appeared in my timeline just yesterday and I watched almost all the videos in a row! Fantastic chef! Greetings from Brazil!
after I watched your first video, without even finishing it haha! I subscribed right away!! I ended up watching all your videos in just 1 day. Now I'm heading to the grocery to try the recipes
I prefer Hiroshima style okonomiyaki, but all of it is good. Every style, every topping - it's just out of control how delicious a dish it is. God bless Japanese comfort food! (also Ryotaro is TOTALLY correct: okonomiyaki *needs* kewpie mayo.)
I was introduced to okonomiyaki by a coworker who brought some to work about 5 years ago and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Your version looks delicious and 100% needs mayo! No healthy eater here
Ryosuke is such a great guy... at this point I just watch his videos because I feel so at home he deserves so much more attention best cooking channel on youtube
I love the energy and positive vibe of your channel. Also your food is easy to make and has ingredients you can easily find. Congrats on 120k my man. Keep cooking and making these banging videos for us.
It was so much fun cooking and boxing with you Ryosuke! Looking forward to making another unhealthy dish with you!
Risottoro, are you planning to learn how to make tasty food to hide poison in Chris' food?
If you can’t beat Ryoske you’ll never overtake Chris. All I can say is I’m disappointed.
Cool colabs
Looking forward to another video.
It was so cool you were on the video.
The awkward moment when Champs Kitchen has more subs than Ryotaro in a quarter of the time 😂
(I'd better watch out).
The Okonomiyaki looked absurdly good!
This was a lot more tame of a roast on Ryotaro than I was expecting from you haha.
Based Chris
Damn Chris def not holding back when it comes to Ryotaro hahaha
Chris cooking when?
I want to see Chris cooking too!
Big thank you to Ryotaro for helping me celebrate reaching over 130,000 subscribers (although it was still around 120,000 when we filmed this video!) Sorry about the knock-out though!
Thank YOU so much! Because of you I'm able to cook delicious food easily without a problem, it is truly amazing.
Can you make an Omurice next, please?! I love omurice, but want to see your way of making it!
It's ok apology accepted 🙂☺️
Glad you knocked him out in the end 🤣. Your laid back and friendly attitude easily explains why you made that 120k in third of the time. Keep the mood up champ!
2 days after the video was released 140000 subscribers
Ryotaro knows Champ?! Alright, when is the Abroad in Japan collab coming?
Maybe I have to make my version of fami-chicken before he will join me in the kitchen

Tough bird likes KARA-AGE fried chicken
I'm amazed that you managed to say Worcestershire sauce way better than most Americans. Congrats on the 130k (Nearly 140k).
Not only Americans. Nearly everybody outside the UK struggles with the pronounciation.
It's very noticeable for Americans cos of their hard R's and habit to say shy-er instead of shu-h
@@Piddemannen Ok, I get it. Americans are second to none. Even their pronounciation is worse than anybody elses. 🤣
I know right? I remember my 5th grade teacher way back when tried correcting me when i was right. She would go. " No.. it's Wershershersher" .. lol
At some point, I just call it woozy sauce.
Love it! I thought it would be complicated to make a Okonomiyaki, but you make it looks easy!
It's really simple right? And quite healthy!

Hey Champ, I recommend adding potato starch if you don't have Nagaimo. Around 20% potato starch and 80% flour is good!
Heck yeah, my Mum used to always make this for me growing up. congrats on the 130k!

I lost it when you clobbered Ryotaro. Now, it is time for Abroad in a Pan. Seriously, CONGRATULATIONS!
Wow it's so great to see Ryotaro!
Okonomiyaki isn’t that popular outside Japan but it is one of my favorite dishes of all time! I hope more people try it!
i wish it was so that more Japanese restaurants would sell it!
You're the best!!! Keep making wonderful videos!
I just tried okonomiyaki with my wife and son last week. It was so good! Can't wait to use this recipe to start making it at home. Thanks!
Oh dang Ryotaro invaded another channel. Also I'm so excited to try this recipe. Okonomiyaki is my favorite Japanese food!
