    So glad I stumbled upon your channel. I'm studying Nihongo as a hobby. I know this is a cooking channel but this is fun and cozy way to learn it aside from the other channels totally focused on teaching the language. I love the subtitles and translations. Learned a lot of cooking and kitchen-related stuff. Will also try to make this yummy okonomiyaki.
    Thanks, Chef! Continue cooking irresistibly delicious Japanese food.

    • @CHEFSLABO
      @CHEFSLABO  2 года назад +2

      Hi letizia!!
      That case, how about napa cabbages? (a.k.a. wom bok or Chinese cabbage)
      If that still doesn't suit you, you can use very thinly sliced onion and carrot!!
      But you know what?
      The word "Okonomiyaki" means "Fry what you like" in Japanese.
      "Okonomi" =What you like
      "Yaki" = Cook, fry, grill, etc
      "(Other good example)
      Yakitori = Grilled chicken
      "Tori" = chicken
      So you can try many different things, and there is no law!!
      I tried the onion and carrot version before because I run out of cabbage,
      but it was quite good too!!
      Hope this reply helps!!
      Thanks for the comment😉👍

      @@CHEFSLABO Thanks for the tips Chef! Unfortunately I suffer from digestive problems, so there are a lot of ingredients / dishes that I cannot overeat. In particular, I cannot eat cabbage or any vegetable that is part of the cabbage world, I can make exceptions but rarely, especially when they are not elaborate dishes. I cannot exaggerate with the use of garlic, onion, ginger and hot spices. For your recipe, I thought about using carrots,zucchini, mushrooms or shrimp and squid. I hope they go well.

    I just made this recipe for lunch today, and again it was a hit. I am so thrilled to try all your recipes. I never realized how painstaking the process of cooking Japanese dishes really is until I started trying your recipes. The meal looked simple, but one has to respect and carefully follow the process of cooking to get a fantastic result. Thanks a bunch for this recipe, I know I will keep making this from time to time as it is delicious. Good eats! 😊 ✌

    Note. If you don't have thin slices of pork belly you can use uncured bacon.

    Is the white plate you use for flipping on the website?

      @CHEFSLABO  2 года назад +1

      Hi Robbie!!
      The white one I used for flipping isn't the one on the website.
      It's just a cheap plate I already have😅

      You can Wannnyy 👍
      But texture will be a slightly harder which isn't a huge matter.

    At my local Japanese restaurant where I live, I ask them if they could make me Okonomiyaki. They ask me what style. Osaka or Hiroshima. I asked them whats the difference? He told me that he liked Hiroshima over Osaka! He stated the Osaka is to "Mushy". He is right.

      Thank you for the recipes! Everything I have tried has been a great success and people always ask for the recipe (and I tell them where I got it, of course). Even for things I already knew how to make, your recipes always add something new or make it easier.
      I don't know if you take requests, but is there any chance you can show some onigiri next year?
