This guy deserves praise. Every single person on the internet rushed to talk about his downfall, but nobody is saying anything about his comeback.
People on the internet are way more interested in being "woke" than being correct. When they are right they get to go on social media and pretend that they are some kind of hero for typing a few words on their computer. When they are wrong they pretend nothing happened, never address it again, and aren't held accountable for the damage they did.
The internet was a mistake.
literaly every other comment i see on his videos after his comeback has been nothing but praise and welcoming him back. he's getting nonstop praise good sir. as he deserves.
The way I've seen it, most people that have came back after all the drama settled have been super supportive and nice, it's... nice lol
I’ve seen a few RUclipsrs follow up and say they were wrong about Jared. But the dumpster fire gets the internet clicks more than the redemption story. Even if they don’t admit it people like seeing others lives in ruin.
Humanity loves to focus more on the negatives more than the positive. It is unfortunate.

It's often overlooked and not too common to find, but those who do find it always end up happy for finding it.

I mean, Exdeath's origin story is that people used one specific tree to seal away demons, until the tree itself turned sentient and evil. Makes sense that his second form would be a whole BUNCH of demons all crammed together.
Which I guess means that he's a big allegory for pollution and garbage dumps. The environmentalist theme checks out!

Krile and galuf are not the same. Galuf is a physical beast, krile is a mage. I would love for this game to get the remake treatment with sidequests where you can actually save and fight with the dawn warriors as well as the final 4 survivors in the original. I want that werewolf and the blue haired swordsman in my final party with Faris and me

Did you know this game had a sequel? The anime, Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals takes place 200 years after the events of the game and focuses on Bartz's descendants. The anime actually had an American release shortly before the release of Final Fantasy VII. It's a 4 Episode OVA that's surprisingly entertaining. And directed by Rin Taro no doubt.

THANKS. I don't know why most youtubers are so strongly afraid of mentioning emulation or roms. Everybody emulates, we all do. Sometimes you just want free games. Sometimes you don't want to spend $100 just to play a SNES or GBA game.
Sometimes the game was unreadable until you patched it. Sometimes the game in question hasn't been manufactured since before your parents were born. Sometimes the game isn't available at any price. Sometimes the game was legitimately released for free by the developers so it was never on sale. Sometimes the game was available for a dollar at one point in time but when you went to buy it the price permanently inflated to over two hundred because there is no new supply of the old copies. There are so many reasons why, in a lot of cases, emulation is not only the best option but actually the only option.
Emulation is some sort of "Taboo" to most YTers. No clue why at all. Hell when I started my emulation times, the GBA was already stopped gaining new games as the DS was. Just as you said not everyone wants to shell out 100 plus dollars to get a GBA, SNES, PS1 etc. For maybe one game. It can be amazing as long as you know what emulation sites to go to. I sadly don't remember what sites I used as I stopped emulating games a long time ago, but still.
Sorry for dragging this out so long, but yeah it's a fun way to find new games as it led me to find one of my all time favorites that I think no one thinks about much anymore. Breath of Fire 2. Anyways, I'm done, have an awesome time!
Emulation is in a technicaly grey area. People wanna avoid suggesting piracy if there are legal alternatives. Sure the Playstation has loadtimes, but its still perfectly playable. Imo i would go the grey middle ground. Buy a official version (PS1>Steam, dont wanna have SE think these sorts of ports are accetable) and then just play a modded rom.
There is a difference if there are no legal alternatives, but it's not like SE doesnt rerelase, and piracy is NEVER acceptable.
@#1 ratbag It is piracy. Not like you cannot legaly get the game for a reasonable price. Its on the PSN for 10 bucks.
Two words: copyright infringement. Nintendo sees emulation as piracy and illegal because they think that's what cause the decline on sales. That's why nowadays there's fewer physical releases and only digital ones (which you don't entirely own by the way)
17:47 I think Exdeath's second form is not weird, to be honest. Exdeath is a tree used to seal evil spirits, so it makes sense, in my opinion, that these evil spirits end up showing up at a certain point. Sure, it could have been done better, but I think it's pretty nice.
And his boss fight in FF14 looks amazing (haven't played it because I'm not a fan of MMOs, but I saw a video and he looks badass).

Bjorick I’ll admit, I think you’ve got me on that one. I could look it up but that’s no fun. Unless it’s a trick question, because they didn’t use Spirit as a stat in the original FF2/4 on the SNES, but I don’t think that’s the answer you’re looking for. ;)

Over the years, FF5 has become one of my favorites in the series. I used to be all about FF6, but the job system in FF5 is so much fun, and I feel like it has so much replay value because of it.
I agree. FF5 has possibly the best job system in the entire franchise.

Some people are going to hate my comment, but that is what I like about FFX-2. Not my favorite game, but man, the job system is great. I would prefer FF5 system, but the change on the fly is so awesome. I could also get multiclass in X-2 with equipment and the grids, so there is that.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: It's amazing how much of a leap in graphic and audio quality there was between FF5 and FF6 despite being on the same hardware. FF6 almost looks like a 32-bit era game by comparison.
Oh I agree I have the anthology game and the difference was staggering it almost made me wonder why 7 wasn't 2d as opposed to the 3d graphics we got.
Yeah in fact it makes it much harder to go back to 5. I never quite got into pre-FF6 episodes, despite their qualities.
The Once And Future King It is rumored that FF4 began as a 4th famicom entry before being moved to snes, and I think it shows. The overworld sprites don’t feel like that much above an actual famicom, and even in battle they look like upscale 8-bit, with no more detail. The worst example for me is the eight legged kraken boss, who doesn’t even use a full 12 color palette.
FFVI deserves a justified remake and not just a trash port with "updated" graphics.

FFV is one of my favorite RPG's. There's some lovable characters in the game, and the job system totally rocks. It's such a warm feeling to remember the days that I played this, searched for special items with thief; laughed a lot with characters like Boko and Galuf.

The Job system sounds complicated. But hot damn now I want it in every RPG.
It gets simplified after a while. Then it gets fun. Like real fun
i find it a lot simpler than it sounds. after a while you just put rapid fire on all your melee fighters anyway. maybe dual wield or two handed as well depending on your tastes
Things I’ve learned from this video:
-RPGS with job systems generally feel more rewarding to play. Use FF5 as an example.
-Don’t make scenarios where your forced to use a specific class.

There is a mobile mmo called AQ3d, that had this system. Reminds me of DAOC or EQ with a job system and non auto play.

Exdeath's last form does make sense; I clearly remember someone tells you that they sealed a bunch of powerful demons and monsters in a tree, that tree IS exdeath
Yay, was going to comment this. The demons were sealed in the Moore Forest and they gathered in a single tree.
That's why the Warriors of Dawn couldn't really kill it which kept regenerating.
Also in the end the Void was consuming the monsters sealed in the Rift and they fused in Exdeath which started losing his mind.

@@rapidfire9999 You need to name your Butz as Sans and defeat 1337 skeleton pirates on the Abandoned Ship. No more no less or else it will not work. Play all the pianos. Then, before going to Mirage Island, you have to have Sans (Butz) summon Bahamut and use Mega Flare to end the battle. It HAS to be the last action you do. Then go back to Mirage Island and play the Piano.

12:33 I don't know why people have to shit on the story of Final Fantasy V so much. I thought it is a pretty good game with a solid storytelling, even though it may not be as "spectacular" as Final Fantasy IV or VI in a story driven department but at least V gets it high praises for its battle system in opposed to IV's repetitive game play and VI's broken gaming mechanics. I'm not saying that I don't like IV and VI because I really do like them, it just that many people rarely mention these two games pros and cons like they do with V so much. While I enjoy all three games, in my honest opinion I think that Final Fantasy V is probably one of most balanced game out of the three because of its great gaming mechanics with a solid story, while IV may have a much better storyline than both V and VI, whereas VI have a pretty great story too, but with better graphics and excellent soundtrack, even though the gaming mechanics are pretty broken but its not always a bad thing if you enjoy the game for a casual or pro player like yourself just like I enjoy Final Fantasy V. Besides, you really don't need a story driven game to actually enjoy a game.

Great review as always Jared, although you're explanation of Exdeath isn't really accurate. Exdeath isn't really nature fighting back. Exdeath is the embodiment of all humanity's sins and evil, trapped inside of a tree until it physically manifested. So it's not really so much revenge from nature as it is humanity's sins coming back to haunt them because they thought they could seal it away. Exdeath wanted the crystals shattered for his own endgame, not because of overuse. Let's just say the crystals aren't just a source of energy, but also act a barrier of balance and universal stability in the game.
There's definitely a theme of environmentalism and humanity getting too comfy in the game, but Exdeath is literally sin made flesh, not just for crimes against the environment but against ANYTHING.

Edit: Two years ago, I beat it again, without any walkthrough, but I hit the good ending again without remembering that there was such thing as different endings. So I watched Jerd's gameplay on the gameplay channel and remembered again.

Little lore: The reason he looks like that in his final form is because they used to seal all their bad guys that were too powerful into a tree in the Great Forest of Moore. Eventually the tree gained sentience as all the spirits gain a singular goal. Unable to pass on they beg for the end of their existence, to end their suffering, to return everything to the void. With that goal in mind the tree turns into ExDeath, a walking manifestation of their desires, trying to erase all existence, including their own, with the void. At the end when ExDeath is consumed by the void, causing him to lose his sanity in exchange for more power, what you’re seeing is all the spirits sealed within losing their singular focus and being torn apart into their individual forms. No longer being ExDeath but a mass of evil spirits forming a collective known as Neo ExDeath.

I was aware of the "they're all monsters in a tree" thing but not that Exdeath obsession with the void was because of the spirits anguish. And also the NeoExdeath thing.

I never knew about that! I only remembered the idea that ONE spirit was sealed in the tree. I didn't know it was an evil spirit dumping ground. That kinda strengthens the environmental message, too. I love when games manage to get off an environmental message subtly. *glares at Chrono Cross*
@@Nickle_King Yeah. Especially since the Emperor (who's official name is Emperor Mateus) wanted to become the King of Hell. Maybe Neo Exdeath is Square confirming to us that the Emperor finally achieved his goal after he kills himself at the end of FF2.
14:10 Tellah died in 4 though? He also fought beyond his limits in a one-on-one fight against the big bad...though the rest of the party wasn't being held down at the time and just sat there watching. I could understand if you don't count him as a major party member though.

@@SirDavid290 it's actually a play on the fact that bards can hide away from battle, leaving the rest of the party to deal with the battle (aka get OUT of the party)... And the fact that, generally since FF III, bards aren't really that useful in battle (aka GET OUT of the party)
