Very educational as always. I am confused though about timing versus cylinder pressure (compression ratio, boost, volumetric efficiency). I always thought detonation would trump timing. I'm struggling to understand how reducing timing can fix an engine that isn't being fed enough octane for the compression ratio or boost level.
I know you are going to tell me every cam is a nitrous cam, but what considerations would you take cam specs wise for a 417 LS intended to see a maximum of a 300 shot hurting as little as posible performance while NA?
if you can add this much timing, why not just add more compression ratio? Theoretically, if you can run 50 degrees of timing, shouldn't you just add some compression?
E85 not worse in mpg if its stock vs price tahoe 140 to fill up for one week E85 70 doesn't waste it twice as much lol now cam or boosted well its not getting any better
Nothing like kicking back on a Saturday and watching some Dick Holdener vids. Love em!

how come i never see crank case vacuum pumps on boosted ls engines even though crank case pressure is an issue
Probably because vented catch cans cost less and do a “good enough” job.
PS 35,000 PSI is one of the recent diesel injection pressures of which I have heard.
Just get an aftermarket k member to install the Chevy motor. Been done for ages. They have headers and forums out there
Richard, in regards to timing levels, do you use the same timing through the rpm range ?
timing curve is different at different rpm-lower rpm uses lower timing

pick a cam that does what you want NA (power, rpm etc...) then add your 300 shot
That Jon kasse see through intake will make you wonder how an engine runs
It shows you how
Yeah I want make the 5.4 4 valve hit 500 without really really doing some work
there will always be work involved

that's not how things work-and you can't run 50 degrees of timing at WOT
Probably already been asked this but. Have you tested the hawg a.s cam? Guy on yt said it made 100 rwhp on 5.3. Or the mad max cam ? Thanks
So who grinds that cam? Need more information
I'd like to see a cam that made 100 rwhp on a stock 5.3L.

fuel mileage is much worse with e85-uses 20-25% more fuel
100 octane pump gas is the UAE, I believe, or some other Arab country.
hay bud i need a motor for my 88 stang do u anything for sale
no sir
