    Great review - and thanks for not wasting our time showing every zip tie being cut out of the box. Saddles are super important - and super subjective. For some, the stock saddle may be perfect - the Brooks B67 is my current favorite all-day ride, but is always going to be aftermarket for these bikes.
    And for anyone who looks down on the cable disk brakes, I'll take a decent cable disk over a cheap hydraulic any day, every day. Much of the perceived "advantage" of hydraulics vanishes when you put a good set of cables, like the Jagwire compressionless cables on your bike.
    And, while we're being nitpicky... I wish KBR would add threaded bosses on the seat stays for the Euro/Asian-style frame lock (ring lock). The Radcity bikes have them - even the cheap Hyper E-Ride City bike has them. Abus has a strap-type lock adapter kit, but it's so much nicer to just bolt the lock directly to the frame. Not a deal breaker, but when I see features like that, it makes me think that the manufacturer is paying attention to the details an actual city bike user might want. I'd also like to see center stands - that's typically a cargo bike feature, but with the addition of a little e-power, even the city commuter e-bikes tend to get pressed into grocery duty, and a center stand greatly helps when you're loading the panniers.
    In that vein, I'd also love to see some sort of weather-resistance certification. (ill-fitting USB covers is kind of a clue, however) I think that in the U.S., bikes are so viewed as leisure toys for fair weather that protection from the elements is overlooked - one reason why so many so-called "city" bikes ship without fenders in the U.S. - something that would be unthinkable in many other markets.

    Just digging around in here looking at some EBike videos.. Good stuff.. There are a couple new POWERHOUSE bikes out under $2,000 that would be fun to see a quality vlogger like yourself test out.
    Attention Ariel Rider: Kepler test here!
    Attention Wicked EBikes: Freedom bike needs to be shipped here!👍

    Very good review. OTOH I would have liked to see some comment on handlebar components (placement, LCD functionality, etc). Another reviewer recommended a rear view mirror and I agree; however, is there room on the handlebar left side for this? Sadly where I live in NorCal we do not have the nice dedicated bike paths/trails like the midwest and East. Our country backroads represent a safety challenge. I can only enjoy these videos vicariously.

    Thanks in advance

    I have one of these. Your review is spot on. On pedal assist 0, button “-“ is a walk mode feature. This is not in the manual that I know of. The tires really make the ride great and quiet unlike fat tires. Can you answer one question. Which provides max amps to the motor from the controller, max throttle or pedal assist 5. I hVe a steep driveway.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 года назад

      If there is a difference, throttle is usually where you get max wattage. However, it should be easy for you to test by starting in PAS 5, then twisting the throttle to see if there is any difference.

    Battery arrived with no battery
    I ordered two bikes one arrived without a battery. I called customer service and they said every few hundred bikes has one missing a battery or front forks. There said they will send another battery and a bag for my inconvenience. The battery showed up but would not charge. I tried charging it multiple timers with no avail.I don’t believe there is any kind of quality control to have something like this happen twice. I called and emailed customer service and have yet to hear back. Also,never recieved the bag.

    Great review. I just got one two weeks ago. I am mid 50’s way out of shape. And am absolutely loving it. Hills are no issue anymore which is why I wanted one. My first ride was 12 miles, some throttle but mostly power level 2-3 with some 5 thrown in for fun. Corners and turns are a blast. My question is I am finding a slight vibration from time to time I feel in the seat that is obviously coming from the motor when I am going towards max power. Did you find that with your bike and or on other e bikes? Thanks for the great review.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 года назад

      Some vibration can be normal, but if it is uncomfortable or changes over time, that could be an issue with the motor.

    Another great review. Thanks. It is so unusual for any reviewer to discuss the gear ratio and spacing which is integral to the performance of the bike. Thank you for that. I have been thinking of the new Rad City 5+ but after this I’m thinking it may not be worth the additional $300, even with the hydraulic brakes. I always appreciate the commentary.

      I was a competitive triathlete in my youth, and turnover is fundamental to my enjoyment of pedaling. I don’t pedal as quickly with flat pedals as with clipless, but cadence is still a very important part of evaluating every bike I test.

    NEVER ride on busy road...
    without a mirror on your left-side handlebar.
    Doing so leaves your life, (literally) in the hands of the idiots on their cellphones, or reaching for their lattes.
    When I see driver's drifting into my lane, I simply motion my left arm for them to both go around me and wake up from their zombie-like slumber.
    Learned this from running out of gas/flat tires on my motorcycle.

    • @TheTechofTech

      Yes. Just using a bar clamp plus mount extension to get the height I need. Using software included with the cameras (GoPro Hero MAX, Insta 360) to frame the footage, then I do the final edits in FCP.

    Would you choose this over the Ariel Rider Rideal?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 года назад

      This is more comfortable by a wide margin due to its seating position. The Rideal is a bit more of a hot rod than this is, though. For me, I prefer the KBO overall, though I also recommend the Rideal for riders who are OK with its forward lean in order to get the more powerful motor.

      I have no direct experience with the Level, but it’s $300 more than this ebike. You do get hydraulic disc brakes and an 8-speed drivetrain with a trigger shifter, but the battery is smaller. Just depends on your personal priorities.

    I am on my 2nd battery for KB O. I'm going through all the hoops and will likely be sent back the same battery that will probably have the same issues. Don't buy one, don't be fooled by the 2 year warranty. They just want you to give up. So frustrating. These reviews are for new bikes, not bikes that actually get used and then the batteries stink, the brakes stink, the bolts come loose, Stay away from KBO unless it's free

  • @tedmccabe3819
    @tedmccabe3819 2 года назад +1

    KBO will not fix your bike if there’s a problem with it they do not honor their warranty they They will only advise you on what to do but if that doesn’t work you are screwed If you ask him for an address to send the bike to so that you will get it fixed by them they will not send you an address and completely ignore your text this company kBO is very untrustworthy.
