    I bought a Lectric XP 1.0 probably around 2019 or so when the company was a startup. Comes right inside the Class C. It was $999 back then. The 3.0 version currently on sale is still $999. Hydraulic brakes, 48V Lithium ion battery, foldable, step-thru design. Integrated light system with the battery. IP65 rated. When "unlocked" becomes a Class 3 bike capable of 28MPH on pedal assist. Lectric is a great company. While my 1.0 still does OK, I might upgrade come the spring, as the newer features are compelling. When I fold the 1.0 up, it fits in the back hatch of my Toyota Matrix!

      They are very similar bikes, I got to put quite a few miles on one while I was making up my mind.
      You know me, I like second best 😉 😆

    Thank you for an awesome review , Im 56 yrs old and about your size except I have more lugage up front lol and Ive been looking at and watching so many videos on ebike and weather I want a regular ebike or a folding and so many different brands , Iam tossed between KBO and Jasion and kinda leaning for a folding bike so I can keep it safe and secure in my truck which is also a Tacoma double cab with a cap .Also I dont want a big fat tire bike but dont want small road tires either the folding bikes look like they may be not as stable as a nine folding bike wish I could test ride them some where . I really like what I see with your bike, decisions decisions .

      I have a bike rack for my Honda Odyssey Camper Van, but I would feel better with an ebike that could fold and fit inside for anti theft reasons.

    Nice bike, Brian! I had two questions as I watched your review.
    1) How much does it weigh? I was able to find it on their website (57lbs...nice!)
    2) Have you taken it off any sweet jumps? Maybe you could provide a video of that in a follow-up.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife

      I thought I did include the weight in the video… Thanks for looking it up.

    Twist throttle. Dang.
    I'd bought a Jetson Bolt Pro when under $300 from Costco. An inexpensive introduction to an e-bike. Since then I've wanted to get one that would allow us to bring two in our car. The Jetson has only a folding handle bar. It can fit on the back seat and a second could be possible but irritating to disentangle the two sets of pedals.
    There are two primary downsides to the Jetson. The battery isn't removable which, if charging from a power bank, works. If you need to take the whole bike upstairs into an apartment it isn't ideal. The other one is that twist throttle.
    I've forgotten what caused me to suddenly swerve on the Pro but I haven't forgotten hitting the ground. The twist throttle engaged as I went for an evasive maneuver causing the bike to shoot out from under me. I've since replaced the twist throttle with a thumb throttle. With pedal assist you don't need the throttle often. When you want it to get some extra speed starting up at a green light or up a hill it is just as convenient to use a thumb throttle.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  9 месяцев назад

      Good tip with the thumb throttle, crashing isnt fun!

    Another element we rarely think about is that bike racks that hold the bike from the frame cannot transport e-bikes. They are too heavy (even if you remove the battery) and the weight is not meant to be supported by the middle of the frame with road vibrations. I've been thinking of a folding one for a while now also because of that. Disk brakes are almost mandatory too for e-bike because of the extra weight that reduces braking distance otherwise.

    • @twloughlin
      @twloughlin 10 месяцев назад +1

      There are now bike racks made that can support ebikes from a rear hitch. With ebikes becoming far more common, companies are responding to the need for more capable bike racks.

    • @nixquev
      @nixquev 10 месяцев назад

      @@twloughlin they are "cradle" type racks that do not support from the frame but from the wheels. They are also limited to a maximum of 2 bikes so more than that many family members and it's a no.

    • @twloughlin
      @twloughlin 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@nixquev Fair points. I just did not want to leave the impression that there are no options out there to transport ebikes via a rear rack. I have a carrier that cradles the wheels and uses tie-down points similar to a motorcycle rack. It also allows you to lock the bike to the rack for causal theft protection.

    • @nixquev
      @nixquev 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@twloughlin I don't know about other brands but my Thule Rack (frame holder) also has a locking cable that also protects from theft. Honestly those are not really super secure but it's more about not it making it so easy it looks like an opportunity.
