This is great Brian - thank you to both you and Sam!!! The ultimate wisdom in DIY is to know when to seek help from someone who can do it better than you can…. especially when it involves this level of expertise. Don’t ever hesitate to include this type of information on a DIY channel. It is extremely valuable.
Nice Vid Brian. Sam's REDD system is fantastic. I had my unit out for a trial at my brother in laws. It rained and no water seeped in. In mid-Novemeber, we are going on a trip in the near north Ontario. I am very confident the REDD will do the job.
This mod is awesome! Last weekend, I climbed out of bed at 3am, during a storm to break down my setup, which did not have Sam newest mod. While getting rained on, I looked over to Brian's site and saw his awning standing strong and not moving an inch. I am not gonna lie, I was a little envious. Needless to say, I was sold. I am excited to use the new system created by Sam on the next trip!
I wish I would have woke up as I would have given you a hand with all of your gear. But now with our RRED deployed we sleep without fear of awning damage from water pooling on the awning!
Many thanks to Brian and DIYOutdoorLife for helping us get the word out about our RRED system. It is definelty a game changer for straight pull awnings!
Great video and a great mod! Do you know if this system will work with the SAMOUT awning? We have 2 of the 8.2’X10’ awnings, they appear to have a very similar design to the ARB awnings. I saw Sam’s video on how he made the side bar supports which I love but I haven’t seen anything on the top support. Is there a video showing this design in detail, or will there be?
I have not had the opportunity to test our system on a Samout awning yet so I cannot say for sure. My concern is that with the cheaper offbrand awnings like the Samout and Napa that the material the awnings are made out off are not strong enough for the system to function properly but I will know more once I get a chance to work with them.
Brian great review. I love your channel watch all shows. But here is the thing. The awning is the problem with most small trailers Square or Tear. The price is quite high and the function is sometimes a problem. ( Look at Drew trying to put his awning down in a windy day, or Mat & Wendy) not fun. The DIY community has lots of great ideas. What If I told you that I have a idea of an awning that is self supported ( no poles or guide wires) can be 7' x 8' or 7'x 10" can adjust to accommodate a person 7' tall, can tilt so rain doesn't gather and can be set up by any one 5' tall? And cost under $500. I haven't seen anyone with this set up and can't wait to show all how easy it is to put together. So stay tuned. I almost have the prototype done. If a person is handy with doing mods this is a game changer.
I watched his earlier video on this, and he was going to offer the center piece for those that want to build their own, he never posted any more info about it. I would still be interested in the center "spider".
@@TalesFromAztlantis due to all the different types of awnings out on the market today and the differences between each type we have stopped selling these through the mail. Just had too many issues with owners trying to install them on off brand awnings and having problems. We still sell to customers who come to the shop so we can properly fit the unit to their awning for them. That is a lot less hassle for everyone involved.
Does sam sell these. I cant find any info on them. Indid watch a video he put out, but now cant find it. My Google search didn't turn up anything either

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this comment. I’m grateful that you watch the channel and that you get it.

Sam is so creative. Hat and jacket on, we sure could use some cool weather. Great video, Brian.

We're very happy to hear that the system is working out well for you up in Canada!
It really is a game changer, it’s nice to be able to use the awning and not worry that a rainstorm is going to ruin it!
That's a great mod Sam. I'll need to do this. And great video Brian - you two are great on camera together.
You had a cameo!
@@DIYOutdoorLife I did see that - definitely made me laugh. The arms up thing tied in nicely hahaha!

It was a lot of fun, thanks for coming by to hang out! I hope some people contact the Wizard of Modz and get this update on their rig.
Hi Sam, I would like this system for my Maxitrac awning. I assume its similar to the ARB. Let me know what you need from me. Thanks
Great idea I am ordering my Hiker w/o an awning as I have not found a system that can standup up the wind we get in the western slope.
Exactly. The euromax awning with upgraded stakes and guyed down was the only thing that could hold up over the years for us.

These look really nice; very rigid!
Huge upgrade, easy to use!
Great idea
Definitely gives me a peace of mind!

Do we get the matching puffy jacket when you go to Sam's place for an install? Pretty cute boys!
Come on down Dave, we will see what we can do.
