They were on the cover of every teen magazine, every girl and teenage girl had posters of the Bay City Rollers on their bedroom wall, they even had their own tv show. I knew every word of every song and truth be told to this day I have a CD in my car of their greatest hits, yes they had greatest hits, and I still play their songs while traveling down the road. WOW! Thank you so much! The pretty Irish boy in the stars and stripes jacket, on rhythm guitar, is my beloved Husband, Ian Mitchell...he passed away on Sept. 1, 2020. At 14, he was my favorite BCR and ended up being the love of my life. He also became a proud American in 2005.
My best friend from Middle school in TX, sent me this and your review made me smile! This song was produced by Jimmy Ienner, a top man in the industry...that is why it is so wonderful. It was recorded in Toronto, Canada, June '76 (from what I recall as the month) for their album...Dedication.
And the backing vocals...."Ahhh be with you." Well, my Husband's vocals can clearly be heard. Jimmy knew Ian had a sweet voice at almost 18 years old. In fact if this song came on while we were driving and listening to an oldies station, Ian would sing the backing vocals along with the song. Of course, by the time this happened, Ian was in his 30's plus, and his voice, a bit deeper...but still...spot on! Thank you again for reviewing this!

It's so nice to see The Bay City Rollers getting some love and appreciation. Thank you for sharing this video with us. Here in the UK they really started to gather momentum in 1974, with songs like Remember, Summer Love Sensation and Shang a Lang, then in 1975 they went stellar when Bye Bye Baby reached No. 1 in the charts. I think every single girl (me included) at school was in love with them and it became known as Roller Mania. Sadly, by 1976, the band was ridiculed by our pathetic media and BCR fans were made to feel embarrassed for liking them, which is unbelievable when you think about it and it ruined their popularity here.
I'm 62 now and around twenty seven years ago had the pleasure to meet Les Mckeown, who was the love of my life when I was 15, and he became a good friend. A lovely man, but troubled by addiction, and it was so sad that both he and Alan Longmuir, who, along with his brother Derek, founded the band (which to begin with was called The Saxons), are no longer with us.

At the time we lived/rehearsed in a house in Kilbarchan, Scotland while BCR were based in Edinburgh. That was until we learned that the Bay City Rollers were in town for a series of concerts and were staying at the same hotel.

I was a "roller" fan and saw them in concert in Portland OR at the Paramount in 1976. My walls were covered with posters and I bought magazines weekly. Bassist Stuart "Woody" Woods, lead singer (RIP) Leslie McKeown, lead guitar Eric Faulkner, drummer Derek Longmire and rhythm guitar on this video was Ian. Ian was only in the band a short time taking over for Derek's brother (RIP) Alan Longmuire. Thanks for giving these guys a listen, you brought tears to my 59 year old eyes as I sang along. With 17 total albums (ones released in US and in UK) there are several songs. I even cut my hair like them and my Mom sewed tartan down the legs of our jeans and on the bottom. Woody was my fav, so my nickname was Woody; to lingering delight of my classmates at our school reunions. Summer Love Sensation was always one of my fav's - but you cant go wrong with any of them.

Oi vey, just as I was leaving school this band was a mega teen sensation, never thought I'd see them here. Girls all over the country (and a few lads) had tartan sewn into their flares, on everything, and would just go insane over them. You're lucky to be able to hear the music, mostly they were drowned out by hysterical screaming, possibly being the last band that experienced that Beatlemania thing. I was never into them but their sound hits the nostalgia nerve and they were regulars on Top of the Pops. Their 'own' songs more accurately represent their sound. This is a cover of the Dusty Springfield hit.

This song has been covered by so many artist including The Bay City Rollers , The tourist ( the band where Annie lennox and Dave stewart started in music before Eurythmics) , Nicolette Larson , Samantha Fox and even in spanish by latin american superstar Luis Miguel. The original belongs to Dustin Springfield from 1963.

Amber, your musical insight is just getting better all the time. You hear so much that most people never hear!

I sure remember the good old days of "Roller-Mania"! It was a lot of fun, and so were The Bay City Rollers. This old Dusty Springfield song is probably my favorite by The Bay City Rollers. Glad you liked the song.
