WHY THIS TINY CAMERA IS ALL I NEED (Yashica T4) // VLOG

- The Yashica T4 is one of my absolute favourite cameras ever. A tiny, plastic point and shoot camera that does not look professional at all. However, on the majority of days this small camera is all I take with me. Even though in my videos it might seem like I go out specifically for photography, in reality a big part of my work actually happens when I am just living life, going on with my day but bringing a camera with me wherever I go. Therefore, in this video I want to discuss the topic of why less gear is more - while hanging out with friends and spending a cozy day in Berlin.
Thank you to Vanessa, Anna-Kristine, Helene, and Basti!

The laughs in this video makes me feel good. And good mood is everything in these times.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! :)
This was so much fun!!! Love seeing more women as a community out doing street photography! 🙌
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! :) Yeeees, we need more (visible) female film shooters in the community!
All your friends are very cool! Great hangout. Photos that make you happy are the best
Tell Helene to start her own channel. She has an artistic eye for composition. We will all follow her 😊
Wow! Think more and more I should go back to film. So warm.
Do it! :) Just keep in mind that your wallet will hate you
Thanks! Another reminder that we amateur photographers are often on the wrong track. The moment of the image, composition, timing, is what counts. Very expensive equipment does little to improve that. NB: I am not talking about professional work.
I enjoyed watching your vlog, it's good to see people enjoying retro film photography 📸
I have a few retro film cameras including my Yashica T2 which I'm currently using.
I've added your channel and given a like 👍
Yay new Karin video ❤️
Yay 🤍
ok i gotta say that your work is impressive!
Was great to see you all having a great day out together and having fun!
My favourites were the Fuji Instax Mini film images; they’re excellent for days out like this and they give everyone involved a chance to see and appreciate them ‘on the day’ :)
What a charming video!
I really enjoyed this photo vlog/walk! Thank you
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! :)
That was such a cool video. You all created a wonderful day of memories 😊
It was so much fun to film and edit it as well! Thanks for your comment. :)
This is what photography is all about: Going out, taking shots and having a great time. I often find myself, carrying to much of my gear around and in the end, I only used 1-2 lenses. Well...at least I had a bit of a workout :)But, sure, limit yourself to only one lens can be a massive boost for you creativity
All in all, it must have been a great and funny day. I really like the pictures of the Berlin subway architecture. By the way: cute Look @ 7:00 -7:01 😉😇
Berlin must be a hell of a place for Street and like the others said, Helena is very talented ! Keep it up, Helena !
Hey Karin, I really enjoyed this video! So much fun! :D I really loved what you said about less is more. Now I want to shoot more with my film camera and try different film rolls. Berlin has so many areas to explore for photography, can't wait for better and sunnier days. Thanks for the motivation and wonderful vibes! :D
Ive bought a Ricoh RZ 1100. Gives me the same feeling as your Yashica. Amazing point and shoot camaras.
I'm a newer follower and I love the vibes of these. That photo at 8:17 was my favourite because of her clothing colour juxtaposed on the cool green curvy mirror! (also Anna-Kristine is 100% a photogenic gal!!)
Thank you, I appreciate it! :) Oh yeees, I love that photo of Helene as well. And yeeeees, I will definitely forward that comment to Anna-Kristine! ✌🏻
So fun!! If they could bring back one point and shoot, that would be my choice. Except like ... at 350 bucks or something.
Also, I am blown away by how fun that Ektar half frame camera is. I've seen 2 friends use it and fall in love with it.
Cool.
Great video
Yes, a new uploaded. Nice to see some "behind the scenes". Do you film the other vlogs often alone or are you then also out with friends?
Regarding the nice museum insel station, I think there are more very nice and new stations on the U5. Great line btw, it connects many important places for a tourist. I happened to have booked a hotel just 10 steps away from the stair of Samariterstraße, that was a very happy accident.
You go quite often to Berlin, any particular reason for that? You mention the random talks there, I've had several random talks in your city. Once I was even invited for some photos exhibition, it was in building of some left party. They were still working on setting up the whole thing but I was welcome to have a look. There where some very nice pictures of a travel that where printed from film on baryta.
Thanks for your comment, Uwe! It depends I would say. For street photography I like to go out alone and film most of my POVs alone. But in some videos I am also out with friends or my partner but don't show them but only film myself.
Yes, the U5 is a great line where you can basically hop out on each stop to find great places. I have a couple of friends who live in Berlin who I like to visit but I also love it photography-wise which is why I try to go as often as possible.
Cool to hear about your experiences from Berlin as well! :)
@@KarinMajoka thanks for the explanation, I was curious how this filming took place.
How was your photowalk in Berlin going by the way, will there be a next one?
You're lucky this summer, since the IC Amsterdam-Berlin due to works in Germany, it becomes a IC Münster-Berlin (I am somewhat of a train geek 🙈)
Honestly, I'm kinda not paying attention and you're just on in the background. But I happened to look up for the shot of the kid on the steps and that's just a gorgeous photo. You have a great eye, and Yashica really made some great cameras. Oh and €15 for that Arbus book is a steal!
Haha, I am guilty of that as well! Especially when scanning I love to "watch" aka listen to RUclips in the background. Thanks so much for your comment, I appreciate it! :)
Lovely video! I lived in Bavaria for about a year & a half & traveled quite a bit bit unfortunately never got to Berlin. A definite regret.
Never say never - maybe you will still have the chance to make up for it one day. Berlin is definitely worth it! :)
Isn’t that the core of photography? Enjoying yourself and the process, having a good time and just go with the flow without taking yourself too serious? It takes so little even if it’s just a point and shoot.
On a personal note many years ago I got a Yashica T4 as a gift and I didn’t like the cam too much rarely used it and it ended in the trash one day. Little did I know about the hype that it’s being surrounded today for obviously no reason. Lens is good though…
nice! next weekend going to Berlin, any specific tips for getting some interesting shots?
Awesome! I am sure you will enjoy it. What type of photography are you interested in? Street or rather just city photography?
@@KarinMajoka Street and old interesting building, will be staying in Kreuzberg
Kreuzberg is actually a nice area. A bit hipster but great food and good for street as well. I also like Kotbusser Tor or Ku'damm. Enjoy! :)
finally someone pronounces yashica right (3:35)
I never knew there is a right or wrong way haha. What would be the wrong way though?
everyone says yaSHEEca while its supposed to be pronounced as yaa-shi(very short)-ka (source : my japanese friend)
It's not that I am not interested in P&S camera's. My only worry is the lack of control. Unfortunately there are very few analog P&S camera's with aperture control. For that reason I use an Olympus OM-4 SLR and a Voigtlander Bessa R3A.
That is true, there aren't many P&S with all manual options. But I think that's kind of the point of those cameras as well: to get away the control and not care about that.
Filmy nerds. 😎
Film nerds in the making.
Convert em all to the dark side, well done Karin 😎
That's my mission 😎
I keep tracking this camera on eBay but I can't seem to pull the trigger considering where the prices have gone. But gosh does it deliver beautiful results!
I know, the prices have gone up an insane amount. I think it's a great camera and I am happy to have it - but I am also not sure if I would buy one for today's prices.
@@KarinMajoka I feel like my money might be better spent on a first medium format camera! I need to fall into that pit. Love the videos!
I agree! If you are looking for an alternative to the T4: I can recommend the Olympus AF-10 Super. Great camera with similar image quality but only a fraction of the price.
@@KarinMajoka ty🙏
Can u tell me how much you had paid for your point and shoot?
I have gotten this camera in a trade and did not buy it. They are crazy expensive these days, I know
Must of been filmed in summer 2022
Yes, it's from summer last year. :)
Nice female film vibes.
Stick with Leica
