That Silurian was actually aiming that wall. He was constantly humiliated by it, but he had orders to ignore it. Eventually. that Silurian had been bullied one too many times, so it promised itself one day, one day it WILL kill that wall. But the Silurian had to make it look like an accident. This scene is what made me realize why The Doctor hates violence. I used to love action movies and always complain at Doctor Who episodes because the way I see it, they can just punch their way out. But The Doctor knows how violence will only branch out to a series of more misfortunes so he finds a way to peacefully solve the problem

This was the one where I felt that Matt Smith really found his niche as the 11th Doctor. Given the dark-and-dour elements of Doctor Who which were particularly sparked by the Silurians' debut in the classic series, it was a great example of how everything for Doctor Who can consequently work out for the best. Thank you, Chris and Matt. 👍🏻
Why does chibnall have to have a timer in every episode he writes 😂
This is moffet not chibnall. This is way before he took over
@@brandonwright9969 Chibnall was still part of the Doctor Who/Torchwood writers room. He wrote this episode.
@@brandonwright9969 No if you look at the writing credits Chibnall wrote this one. I was surprised because I think it's quite a good episode.
@@brandonwright9969 Not moffet.

Silurians are a very interesting adversary. They aren't evil.
If anything they have a right to be angry, they owned the earth before the humans.
Her moaning though...
Anyway, after watching this, I just realise, when she said "execute her." They are like many, and I mean many, Silurians that holding the gun weapon, and yet, there are not many shots been fired...
Well, they had surrounded them from all sides. Friendly fire would be a very real consequence if this were realistic.
I guess their leader really doesn't speak for every individual, huh...?
I interpret this to mean several soldiers didn't want to perform an execution like this. It wouldn't be right despite how they were wronged.
more than likely it was a failure of special effects but we can look at more fun interpretations.
ObiWan Kenobi Fair enough, yeah. I just like to fill in the blanks regardless.

Apparently on TV, execute = suppressive fire
I met Neve MacIntosh yesterday, she was so nice and I got her autograph at Preston Comic Con!
Wow! Lucky you!
This episode was actually very well done. Why can't we, as one entire species, learn to share the planet, stop trying to find ways in killing each other, and work towards advancing the planet. We're one race. Yes, it's in our blood to be defensive for our tribes, so to speak, or our countries in this term of things. Why can't we just work together, and be patriotic about the planet as a whole?
Because people are animals first, humans second.
Because years ago Muhammad commanded in his Quran to kill Jews.
But that will never go on camera. It's the best kept secret of radical Islam.
Our planet is still just a tribe within the wider galaxy.
@@BreebrixStudioyeah i wonder why he saaid that with many gr8 men in history said that

“I’ll use my very deadly weapon again.”
Man, Humanity really doesn't deserve having The Doctor in its corner. Humans are stirred to murderous violence by rival sports teams, let alone a rival intelligent species living on Earth.
"No second chances, i'm that sort of a man" - Nice to know the 10th is still in there somewhere...
He said that, but nearly always gave humans many chances. Such as this woman who constantly prevented him from achieving peace.

@@Isaic02 no it's a great point your making. He's always had a weekness for humans and endangered species. Humans survive because they kill, this is also seen in real life with America, India, and even isolated tribes in the Amazon. The will to survive is our strongest emotion.
I love how each time the camera angle changes so does the angle of the sonic screwdriver
I wonder if Alaya and Rostec are descended from/related to Vastra.
They aren't. They Vastra went into hibernation at the same time as they did, but in a different colony. So unless she's there mother or something, then probably not. But maybe they all have a common ancestor?
I thought she was their sister because in A Good Man Goes to War Vastra mentions the doctor found her trying to avenge her sisters on some random people (or something along those lines)
ObiWan Kenobi yeah but in the Whoniverse perspective it makes you wonder if they’re part of the same Silurian family.
ObiWan Kenobi which are only like 200 miles apart from each other so for all we know they could be distant cousins (literally)! 😂
@@obiwankenobi687 I know that gets mentioned, but did they ever make an actual episode of that happening?
This episode would have had more weight and meaning if the audience would have previously seen the Time Wars and the War Doctor. When the Doctor delivers the line, "Like I said, one warning". The Doctor knows he might have to wipe out an entire species to keep the entire world from going to war. Which is the same decision he made as the War Doctor when he decided to Time Lock Gallifrey.
He basically did, right here. I mean...think about what the Doctor actually did in this episode. What is the actual problem: Two species inhabit earth, one small but extremely advanced, on primitive but numerous. They both need the same land and humanity is very unlikely to share. What does the Doctor do - he gives humanity an extra century to even the playing field to their best ability, so that when these Silurians wake up they will be subject to utter genocide
@@iusethisnameformygoogleacc1013 The Doctor's biggest flaw, that was pointed out by many, is his lack of thought beyond the moment. Always preventing the massacre in front of him even though it would cause another or many others after he had moved on.

Is it just me or the Silurian make up a bit better here, she looks very pretty and the other Silurians looked impressive as well.
Also can someone explain something, does all female Silurian share the same face? Because the same actress played the two sisters in this episode, and later we see a different Silurian with Jenny but still played the same woman.
Vastra looks the same as the others because it was just cheaper to reuse actors. It doesn’t really mean anything in-universe. Fun fact, Karen Gillan and Peter Capaldi both show up in Fires of Pompeii before their main roles.
I think the Silurians are gonna play a big role in Chibnalls Dr who
Sorry. But that reaction to alyas dead body was hilarious 😂
I would like if they brought back the silurians as enemies one more time again, maybe they could bring Madame Vastra as an ally who will need to choose if she will help to his friend, The Doctor, or to her own people. That's a good idea for a story, itisn't?

Since when was the sonic able to do that 😂
Who is more Cold-Blooded the Silurians or the Human female killer?
I think they should eventually do a episode with the elusive slenderman. I believe it would be quite chilling.
As long as they treat it not as slenderman itself, but as an alien that inspired the myth of the slenderman
@@cement_eater sounds perfect :)
@youngbloodzz103 how about an alien using the appearance of slenderman and other internet horror stories like sirenhead as a form to instill terror in victims as it hunts them through a forest like hunting ground
@@JackRodgers-so9oh oooooo yes that sounds fantastic but what would it's weakness be????
@youngbloodzz103 good question maybe an ambiguous weakness where you don't know if it worked or not like say instead of the doctor waving the magic buzzy thing he tried to take the power out of the stories by denying them but the creature is a personification of fear so there is no clear cut way out maybe just run
I forgot how good Matt Smith's first season was. Shame the writing went downhill from there in his run.
I think the longer Moffat is a showrunner for any show, the more it gets convoluted. Like Sherlock for instance. First couple seasons were really interesting, and then it became really hit or miss towards the end. Meanwhile, they had an opportunity to revive it with Chibnall and that didn't turn out good either. So who knows. I think its due for a major revival again, just like they did with Eccleston. I wouldn't mind a funnier version with Richard Ayode or a similar to David Tennant style actor with Henry Ian Cusick.
@@chriss.9398 feel like the “soft retcons” of the 2005 revival were mostly a product of the show just not airing for a long time. Everything (like 8 being half human) became less defined in public memory. In another decade, I feel like most of moffat and chibnall’s dumber changes will just be forgotten about, maybe with a contradictory throwaway line that everybody ignores. Or maybe the show will get cancelled for another 16 years and it’ll come back fresh like you said
I don't know if anyone noticed this before but at the end of this episode the doctor promises the Silurians that the humans will have earth ready to share in 1000 years time, but we know from an earlier episode that 200 years before the Silurians were set to come to the surface that the humans fled earth because of a solar flare. so what happens when the Silurians come to the surface. do they die?
They probably wouldn't die they just will be mutated.

I read somewhere information that in one comics/story, silurians can't cry (in some different comics/story they could). So for this episode they used non crying version. It's bring new depth in the story how they are different from human beings.
Not a regular viewer, but threatening them with perpetual hibernation after they, a species barely hanging on to survival, are attacked, and one of their leaders is murdered. The Doctor comes across as something of a fascist in this clip.
I loved that scene

I miss the Silurians who clearly looked like men wearing rubber suits with flashing third eyes. These Silurians looked like generic reptile people you’d see in any other fantasy/sci fi series.
I miss the telepathic third eye they used to have. I've always considered the type of Silurians we see in NuWho to be human-Silurian hybrids created by some Silurian scientist. Then later they escaped, and either hid or fled into space on space in arks so they wouldn't be killed by the regular Silurians.
You could update the original look using modern prosthetics to make it convincing without completely selling out the concept and turning them into generic rubber forehead aliens.
But, y'know, Moffat and Chibs wanted the audience to "easily relate to them"... Thereby missing the whole point and assuming viewers are stupid in the process.
There were actual plans to upgrade the classic design but it fell through though you can find the sculpture of the planned make up online

I think doctor who got progressively worse after matts era
I think that Matt up until mid season 7 was great
9,10 and 11 were brilliant
I beg to differ. Series 6 on the whole is pretty weak, and is an example of why Doctor Who struggled in the Moffat era more so than the Davies era. It wasn't accessible to general viewers and they lost interest in trying to keep up with a overblown story arc. At the end of the day, Doctor Who is simply Saturday night (or now, rather Sunday) entertainment, where a family should just be able to watch and enjoy. But then you get weak 'monster of the week' storylines - like Series 7. And that's a whole different story...
Joe Horne maybe but I personally liked some of season six. The delve into rivers backstory was great because up until that point nobody knew who she was apart from that she knew the doctor. While yes I can see why people don’t like season 6, I personally feel that it was a decent one that filled in a lot of questions and really amped up the silence for the time of the doctor. Plus just before Matt regenerated, we are told why the silence wanted to kill him so badly.
+Marty Mcmarty River's storyline is mostly good but the big reveal at the end of A Good Man Goes to War feels like they are about to take it in a completely new direction and then it amounts to nothing. The Wedding of River Song WAS my least favourite series finale - but then Hell Bent came along.
Joe Horne well I think hell bent was mostly good if you cut out the Clara parts and the wedding of river song is okayish. I actually like the resolution to the doctor ‘dying’ I can see where you are coming from though
I hope the Silurians return one day
