    In this video taken on the 29th August 2024 on the Frankston Line at Edithvale station we have a Metro Passenger Siemens Nexas which lost all pantographs the night before in the wild winds that Victoria had. The line was suspended from Cheltenham to Frankston (which included Stony Point) to rescue the train. V/Line sent N Class diesel light engine N471 to do the honours.
    This rescue included a wrong line move from Mordialloc station to Edithvale.
    We managed to capture the arrival and couple up with a small move to clear where the overhead had been damaged then couldn’t hang around anymore.
    The train was split in 2 sets and moved to Mordialloc Siding in 2 separate runs.
    Hope you enjoyed the video.

    Top Video ! Showing a classic rescue of a disabled train and the relief Loco doing a wrong line move from Mordialloc. The signaller at Kananook Panel issuing the Train Authority for the Loco to make it's move.

      It was great to witness this. Kananook were quiet in one way but busy with this.
      Thanks for watching!

    So the brake pipe modification on a Siemens was actually used! I was involved in testing that back in about 2004/5. Locos, VLocity, X’Trapolis, and Comeng, all tested on the little test track at Newport (1 Road New Sidings extended). We used Steamrail’s Y-class as a loco, and missed out on being able to use a steamer by a day or so. The testing was also originally meant to be with a Sprinter, but since the V/Locity was new at the time we opted to use that. A 2-car VL pulling a 6-car Siemens did it, slowly…

      I’m assuming when they happen you can see them. This Edithvale one is here and there’s one at Tecoma (Thurs 05.09.2024)
      Thanks for watching!

    At 4:37, is that some sort of coupling-adapter they fitted to the Siemens? It's a bit too far away to see how the electrics and air would be connected to the loco.

    • @smarTarraY2000
      @smarTarraY2000  14 дней назад

      It’s a transition coupler. The couplers aren’t the same so it connects the 2. One sits at every end of the metro fleet for this purpose.

      @@smarTarraY2000The Siemens fleet only has one transition coupler, mounted on the T-car.

    local who doesn't know much about trains here, is this the "loco" that usually runs on the stony point line, or did they have to send a different one all the way down from the city (or even further away)?

      They sent this one. The one you are talking about is a V/Line Sprinter that runs on the Stony Point line.

    I wonder how much the CFMEU was paid? Labor's big build

      What does that have to do with a disabled train.

      you think the CFMEU controls the weather???

      @robmcfarlane3602 Other than the hundreds of millions to build a station whose infrastructure is so low quality it breaks in the wind, taking one of Melbourne's major lines out for a day?

    • @isthatrubble
      @isthatrubble 11 дней назад

      @@longframe486 I don't think they maintain the trains or the train electric system, there are seperate industries and unions for that. the companies cfmeu are involved with just built the stations as far as I know.
      a similar thing happened on the sandringham line a few days later, do you blame the cfmeu for that too? there aren't any new stations on the sandy line.
