    Every good technician has a specific technique of diagnosis and that is learned by trial and error then you improve over the years so it becomes a blueprint in your head and becomes a specific route so you don’t cover the same ground again then you get to the problem quicker. I love watching your technique because it produces great diagnostics. This profession has become overrun with parts replacers and dishonesty. Keep up your great track record and I love your videos.

    Very interesting to follow the reasoning around electrical problems. I have a Kobelco 235 myself and have been spared from larger electrical problems so far, although the machine do have some smaller quirks... I have the 1000 page shop manual for it and most things seem pretty similar on any asian machine that I've run across, including electrics.
    Looking forward to "the rest of the story". :)

    On my jd 790 I had to unhook the stepper motor from the throttle...it would work sometimes Idle ...fast idle...E and Performance..and then it would just cycle up and down like you were revving the engine up and down. I had to just mash the buttons to get it to stop. Now I just set it with a vise grips but I want to run a throttle cable straight to the cab and just run it manually. I still use the buttons to run the computer for hydraulic speed.

    Many times you can not relay on modern voltmeters like fluke or similar because the are so high impedance input. An old electrician use a lamp instead to control voltage then you got a current floating in the circuit and that shows bad connections. Like your videos shows how it can be out in the field. Many owners of expensive equipment don't know too clean and hold it in good shape.
    Hope for more videos. Have an old jd 3130 with rattling hydraulic that give me problems.

    I had a similar situation on a Hyundai. If I remember correctly. The controller was sending voltage out of the ground. The controller it self was poorly grounded. Is it possible that when you activate the 2 throttle switches at the same time, you are sending ground to the controller. Through a separate circuit but one that is tied in on the ground s.

    Controlling the negative side of the load is called a "sinking" output and is typical of most cnc Machine Tool equipment computer-controlled or PLC output switching methods. to control the positive side would be a "sourcing" output.. when shorting for test purposes best to limit the current with a 1K resistor to avoid accidental dead shorts. Your test Prob probably provides that high impedance path for test purposes. Excelent videos

  • @Formulabruce
    @Formulabruce 5 лет назад +1

    If the controller drops the grounds through relays, and its shorted, or not grounded itself, could be an issue. Pushing two buttons at once could cause an open in the controller so it cant drop a ground signal . ( Just some thoughts to toss in there) Good luck, especially with the book ! I like the mnuals with exploded views of component locations .

    I changed the track pads on a Hitachi ex75ur-5 excavator before.
    Had to cut and chisel off every damn bolt, took me two days dude!
    Had a lot of problems so we took it on as a long term project.
    Just changed the stick cylinder and got the lighting circuit shorts sorted and then someone tipped it over, bent the swing bearing. Man I was pissed, it was scrapped after this as we couldn't find parts for it. Shame as the offset boom was so useful.

    Just toward the end of this video I'm thinking... This has all the hallmarks of a bad ground to the controller... The controller may be bad, causing loss of ground and burned pins but more likely IMO the controller lost a ground because of dodgy pins... I hate catching these videos late as i can't chime in with ideas, but equally i love that i can now go and find the follow up and see whether i was off the mark or not...

    You probably know this too, but a majority of 12/24v outputs that a controller runs utilize a low side (ground) driver so to minimize the possibly of a short taking the driver circuitry out. Not always the case, but almost always.

    I would trace down the wires that have been hacked...it’s possible they didn’t understand the system needed to be grounded to shift to high speed....That may cause the controller to feed back through the two buttons. Could be I’m way off...usually when someone has screwed with the wires...that’s a good starting point....Lookin forward to part 2...Thanks

    clicking doesn't mean its good (could have bad contact), when you push travel speed button and its switching, the wiring integrity from that cluster to control is ok? "switching" .so remember when you pressing that switch and something clicking on that controller? "internal relay built to the board"..if you dont have proper diagram, easiest way is (power probe) disconnect both ch-50 and solenoid connector and connect a gnd to the solenoid harness and probe the ch-50, either you will find open/short or good continuity . if you have continuity then back probe that wire and toggle that switch and check gnd signal is present. if no i would check pwr and gnd on controller and check amp draw on that solenoid before i call a controller

    I worked as a technical writer for a short period of time, and find that the engineering team expects that everyone that reads these are at the same mind set as they are. Would be much better if they refined their illustrations and text so that anyone could understand. In the case of the plug they don't give clear understanding as to which way you are looking at the plug, front, back, (plugged, or unplugged) right side up, or down.
