Moses Sparks speaks with absolute authority. What a treat to get firsthand insight into the specific value of each piece of equipment on a trip. Invaluable expert advice.
Hi Moses. I watched your video for Samy’s and it is very professional. I know you are a very busy guy and you already have a website to display your photos, but you should work with someone to establish your own RUclips page. It could work in conjunction with your photography page and be a vlog where you share episodic information about your work and travels not only with the public on RUclips, but on your website and Facebook page also. With the skills you have as a photographer and musician and your easygoing presentation style you should be able to slowly take over a large share of whatever market you are interested in. Find somebody to help you present your work on a consistent basis; you can’t lose with the skills you already have. Samy’s has already sponsored you for presentations and maybe you can talk them into an ongoing sponsorship with some tech support. Keep posting man, you do a great job.
Interesting talk. 👍 Generally, the moment I tell airline staff that my bag contains $15k worth of camera gear, they make room in the overhead for me because most airlines have internal policies to avoid being liable for the replacement cost. I do use a camera cube on some trips, though, to bring size and weight down to carry-on limits. It’s especially useful when I’m on a little 12-seat island hopper in BC - it gets stowed behind the co-pilot’s seat in the crew closet. 😊 Like you, I then swap out when I get to the base camp. The lens cube either goes into my huge Kuiu hunting pack if I’m backwoods, or into a CORSurf dry backpack with lens holsters in it for wet environments like the BC coast. For kayak/canoe expeditions, I put my 25 yr old LowePro 40L camera bag inside a waterproof rafting pack and swap gear to the CORSurf when shooting on the water. Good hunting! 😎
I'm somewhat new to wildlife photography, but not to hiking and camping. I spent many sleepless nights trying to figure out how to bring all the camera gear including camping stuff. Found the typical camera backpacks to be terrible when loaded compared to military backpacks. So I did what Moses and you did, but instead of the packing cubes inside the bigger pack, I put a smaller backpack, inside the big backpack. So when I get to camp, I take it out and can walk lightweight for a day and return to camp. Don't know why I shared this on your post, but it felt right. Good hunting!
@ Makes sense. 👍 I should clarify that I only put two lens holsters inside my waterproof CORSurf pack. I can have a 180-600 in the back and my big 400mm on my chest harness, with a wide angle tossed in for landscapes when the critters refuse to show up. The KUIU hunting pack is very much akin to a military pack, so we’re on the same page there. Cheers!
Great video quality! I've taken a Samy's class with Moses, I've shot with him, and I've communicated with him through social media. You won't find a more knowledgable or supportive photographer out there, I can't recommend his class enough.
Great video, interesting set up. Do beware of QD attachments. I've had one fail, dropping a A7RV and 100-400 lens onto concrete. And that was a quality QD from MAGPUL (supplier to the military).
Interesting. I have had issues with Chinese made QD pieces, but never with Magpul. It's important to keep the port clean, and I also make a point of putting a drop of WD40 on the insert once in a while.
It's the weight. The loaded pack weighs about 25 pounds and I don't like having to wear that load while going through Security, Customs, etc. Rolling it is so much easier.
Still don’t get it. If it’s your way to carry your stuff to distant locations - why worry about that bit of walking through airport and security. Weird.
@@nilswigginghaus231 I guess you don't do it as much as I do. I have stood in a customs inspection line for over 2 hours waiting to be admitted into a foreign country. Doing that while wearing 25-30 pounds on my back makes no sense to me. It's just unnecessary wear and tear on your body. My system makes it easy, and when I get to my location I am ready to work!
@@mosessparks8340 Maybe. I have been flying myself quite a bit with heavy gear. And I don’t disagree it can be discomfiting what you describe. However, I found it’s not as discomforting as carrying that stuff up hill, through a jungle or through blazing heat. None of that you have in an airport. But if you have the money to buy extra comfort and the room in your check in luggage to transport it - why not. Thanks for your insight.
Many thanks for the wonderful video. I am not able to find the particular camera cube which is mentioned in the video - can you post a link for the same
The bag that holds the cube…I cant find that listed in the notes. Is it in fact a Lowepro? Or a Think Tank? Would appreciate the model# if you have it. Thanks!

Glad you were able to make a transition in your photography & find a new passion in the work that you now do. Best wishes.😊

Really like how you pack for trips. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure!
What is the checked Kevlar(?) luggage in the video? The handles on the broad face of the bag are something I have not seen before and look useful!

Fantastic info. Love the insight. Hope to make one of your Samy's Camera seminars in the future.
We hope so too!

6:25 buddy isn't that the leofoto ranger tripod with the adjustable halfbowl top ?? Y did you call it the really right stuff tripod ??
Great video wondering why not just have the cube in the backpack to begin with?

Out of my league but an excellent video. (Where do Moses clothes go?).
In the Rolling Suitcase!

What is the name of the rolling case? Thank you
Lowepro RL400 Highline rolling case

Funny thing is the guy is showing a Leofoto tripod and a Leofoto head and the caption says Really Right Stuff...
Great catch! We actually don't carry that brand of tripod, so we plugged in a similar tripod you can find on our website and we at Samy's recommend!
They’re nice straps but can fail even if designed for the US military, I was lucky as I had my hand on the tripod mount when the swivel pulled through
Anything is posable, that's why we sell Accidental Warranties!
Your video content is awesome. Your video views are slow. The SEO part of your video needs to be modified more. Then you will get a lot more views.
Thanks for the tips!
