    This is a great video. I agree about the harness. Mine is a Sevenoak. It is the most useful piece of equipment. I have a canon rebel xs and t7. They are great cameras my main lens is a Canon 75-300mm and I have a Jintu 420 800 manual. I also us a Innorel monopod. I hope to have a sigma 150-600 some day but not holding my breath. I've been doing photography for over five decades both professionally and casually. Now that I'm retired I'm out most every day enjoying photography more than ever. Thanks for your videos.

    Thanks for the video. I agree a high megapixel camera is a bit of a mixed bag, enough to crop in if needed but those files are huge and takes more computing power to process. I have the R5 which I use but most of the time in crop mode so I am in that 24-26mp range which works out well but I can also grab a higher megapixel image when/if needed. I also shot a lot with the R7 and that 32mp sensor seems to be a sweet spot. Full frame is great in lower light but not always needed in good light. Cheers.

      Yea, that’s cool how you’ve found that R5 and R7 combo to work well for you! Pretty similar to my S1R S5II combo. Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻

    Great video Jeremy, really interesting to hear you talk about all your gear - I especially liked your backpack, something I'm going to look into. Thanks for sharing!

      Glad you liked it! I absolutely love that backpack, like I said, not for big primes, but if not for that I’d recommend it to nearly anyone. Also forgot to mention how comfortable it is on long hikes compared to others I’ve used

    Great insight into what helps you get the shot, Jeremy!
    About the S1R low light, it isn't badbecause it is high resolution, but because it is an FSI sensor, not BSI. BSI tech gave us the last significant bump in IQ, besides DGO/DRboost.
    So the 61MP sensor on the Sony, Sigmas and Leicas will perform about a stop better than the S1R. It also lacked dual native ISO I believe.
    BTW I have a question, if the price difference didn't matter, would you go with the 60-600 over the 150-600? As far as I can tell, it has a lot more versatile range, has better AF and stabilization vs the 150-600.

    • @JeremyNeipp
      @JeremyNeipp  10 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you! :) You're totally right, it's not solely due to the MP count and I shouldn't have simplified it down to that one cause, however, the high MP does have a large reason to do with why it's poor in low light. The S1 and S1H that released with the S1R perform drastically better in low light as an example... the difference being cut the MP count in half. But MP count is only part of the reason why it's a poor low light performer.
      And yes, if I didn't already own the 150-600 Sport, I would have bought the 60-600mm Sport undoubtably. I almost did buy it back when it came out and I got to test it, but it just barely missed the mark for me in being a worthwhile upgrade from what I had. The only two real improvements being the extra focal range and the better stabilization.

      @@JeremyNeippBoth the S1 and S1H had BSI sensors with dual native ISO.
      The "resolution affects low light performance" is a myth in the age of BSI sensors. DPReview once made a video disproving it. In FSI, yes the resolution played a significant part in light gathering. But not anymore.
      Thank you very much for the prompt response BTW!

      @@Wildridefilms I thought only the S1H had dual native ISO? I’d be interested in seeing this video though! Can you send me the name of it here in the comments? :)

      How come the canon R5 that is a FSI sensor equals or beats the Nikon Z7II/Z8 BSI sensors for noise from the comparisons I've seen? I feel the BSI advantage may be a myth. Higher megapixel cameras definitely have more noise. The more pixels you fit into the same space the smaller each pixel is, so gathers less light. That's how I see it atleast.

    Excellent video! We share some of the same gear and I have a question, do you think it is worthy to invest in original batteries for the S1R? or third-party batteries will give you the same results? A lot of mixed opinions on the internet on this topic.

    • @JeremyNeipp
      @JeremyNeipp  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I'm not sure on third-party batteries specifically for the S1R, but I've had very hit and miss results with third-parties on other gear, so personally, I always go for on brand camera batteries with my camera bodies since those are the most essential batteries to have perform optimally in my kit :)

    Great video, Jeremy! I'm always interested to see what other photographers are using. I was especially interested to see your bag. It's so hard to buy camera bags online. Haha! I really like the one that you're using. Can't wait to see what you do at the Golden Gate Bridge! :)

      Thanks! Yea I've tried about 5 different bags for extended amounts of time over years and I've loved this bag the most of any so far. Definitely recommend. And looking forward to it as well with some unique scenery! :)

    Hi Jeremy, Currently debating between S5ii, A74, R6ii and Z6ii. Will be used for both video and photo work. Main subject is Nature (scenes, birds, macro etc). Talking head videos, vlogs and so on. Do you think the S5ii would stand out as very capable for all those uses? Or would one of the others be more suitable? Thanks

    • @JeremyNeipp
      @JeremyNeipp  10 месяцев назад

      Between this cameras you mentioned I think the S5II is your best bet with possibly the A74 being a solid competitor!
