A 70-200 is definitely too short, it's a great second body lens but for Masai Mara or Serengeti something like a 100-400 would be my main go to lens. And I am talking from experience, I am working as a Photo Guide and Wildlife Photographer, mostly in Africa and a tiny bit in Asia as well. Cheers

Thank you for sharing your experience and insights, it’s always great to hear from someone with hands on expertise in wildlife photography! I completely understand the advantage of having a longer focal length like the 100-400mm for places like the Masai Mara or Serengeti, especially given the wide-open spaces and the need for extra reach.
In my case, the 70-200mm was the only lens available to me in the country I was in prior to getting there. While it might not be ideal for every situation, this is what’s in my camera bag :). I’ve found it works well for closer encounters or more intimate compositions, especially when paired with a second body or extender. 🙂

@ Absolutely, it is fantastic and be in my bag too, but just as a second lens for a second body. Apart from that, great video, good to see you enjoyed your trip there 😎👌
