Exactly what I was thinking, the vista overlooking the lake is too wide to just use a texture for the island, the lack of parallax effect would make it it too obvious. Otherwise there's nothing there to talk about.
There's another off map section in the first mission that you could argue was un used content. It's much bigger and full of environments that seems to be part of what could have been a mission. It's possible they used it for testing but I'm telling you there was way to much work put in to be just 3d backgrounds. Especially considering how early this area was possibly made in the Dev cycle.

There's so much bts you can find on Sierra 117. We called in Narnia. You butterfly jump up the final section above the structures. You coop spawn through the invisible wall and you find a wall of trees and bush. Walk through it and you enter Narnia. A phantom you can flip, a pit in the earth like an arena, untextered ground that makes it look like you're walking in the sky, underwater sections you can walk in. It was magic. Pure rose tinted glasses lol

One of my favorite things about the OG halo games was breaking out of the maps. Even though the game obviously didn’t intend for you to do it, there’s always a weird way to pull it off, and it feels like a game of its own doing it. The reward is a mundane area that you ordinarily don’t have access to, but it feels oddly rewarding finally getting there
Yo back about 10 years ago some pro glitchers invited me to a campaign asking for help doing this. But they didnt do what you were doing, they somehow had barrels or some object floating in the water they stood on and was somehow moving it forward like a boat.
There is also a whole area beyond the Brute chieftain's Phantom where the sniper rifle is in this mission. I used Acrophobia to quickly board the Chieftain Phantom right side turret. The Phantom will take off and wont go beyond the soft barrier, dismount and REmount the turret as it crosses the barrier, and jump off before it falls into the water after a short ride. Some of the water area at the end will not unalive you unless you fall far enough. But jump off and theres a whole area to the map's end. When you reach the poorly textured "crater" you're there!
it's always so exciting to see how you use which mechanics, and which points can be loaded and which can't, and where the death barriers are and how to get around them. Thanks for this great content. And why you do you not mount on the gun to stay in the ship?

I remember accessing a specific area of the campaign level Halo that nobody else I’ve ever seen access before or after… towards the beginning of the mission. No one has ever covered it as far as I’m aware.
It's crazy how you guys specifically pointed out those guard towers, I was 9 years old when I first got out of the map using the method at the last area of this mission when I first saw them!! I think similar towers exist on Zanzibar/Last Resort too in the far distance on the beach if memory serves me right.. I always wanted to visit them.

maybe they meant for us to cross the water somehow??? or maybe the level was supposed to loop back that way when you are at the part where you get the chaingun and there are snipers across the water; you would fight that way and then the part where you save johnson is mirrored and the building is like across the water from the beginning and you can see the final objective from the beginning
That is actually from the recording file. It actually makes zero sense as to why it’s there. How it recorded the game screen, while also overlaying a separate screen at an opacity layer, when I only have one input makes no sense. But in fairness, I edited the video and didn’t notice it until the third pass

@@TheShiltShow maybe you're a bit too old for your ears to pick up on it. It's nothing to do with your mouse, it's your capture card or software. You might not hear it but i do. Loud, very high pitched clicking sounds to the right. It's ear piercing, and painful every time. Happening because of whatever you used to record this causing the audio to go above the maximum threshold in random spots. Resulting in a sound, that usually people in their late 20s or older can't hear because it's just so high pitched.
@@TheShiltShow so, realistically, i couldn't be happy, when my ear drum is being assaulted by incredibly ear piercing audio bugs. It would've been enjoyable, if not for the buggy audio.

If you get on the gun, you hit the death barrier, if you get on it as it’s crossing the death barrier, then it works.
